A basket din ner was enjoyed by the rela tives, at noon. Airman and Mrs. Bruce Schu lke and family visited at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schulke recently. They had resided in Hawaii for three years, he has been trans ferred to Offutt Airforce Base at Omaha. They will live at Plattsmouth. A family gather ing was enjoyed at the parents home honoring the birthday of Mrs. Edward Schulke. Those present were the sons, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Schulke and family, and Barry Schulke, Alvo, also Mrs. Carolyn Brooks Packard who left this week for Thermo polis, Wyoming, where she will teach in the Public Schools at that city. She is a former Eagle resident and graduate of Alvo Schools. Mrs. Carl Johnson Sr. received word that her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Barry of Oroville, Calif, have arrived home safctly, after visiting in Nebraska recently. Her other brother, Emile Barrys of Alvin, Tex., are visiting rela tives for several weeks. Charles Bogenrlef and daugh ters, of Elmwood visited at the home of his sister and family, the Wilbur Stolls Sunday. Mrs. Bogenrlef and Infant son will be home from the Syracuse Hos pital soon. Mrs. Carrie Schmidt recently. The latter assisted at the Polk household, one day a week. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones and family of Chanute, Kansas visited at the home of Mrs. Bet tie Underwood last weekend. The Jones family are relatives of the late O. E. Underwood. Last Sunday, a combination of honoring birthdays and "going away" festivities was held at the home of Mr. Harold Wall and daughters Sharon and Glen da. Present were, Ray Wall, Owen Wall, Harold, Glenda and Sharon Wall of Eagle and the latter's friend, Mr. Ralph Lange- meier of Lincoln. Sharon left for Atkinson, Nebr. on Monday, where she will teach Home Ec. In the Schools. Glenda left for Scottsbluff to visit at the home of her friend, Larry Ott and his parents for a week. Birthdays honored were those of Harold and Owen Wall and Ralph Langemeier. John Vickers entered Bryan Memorial Hospital Saturday and underwent surgery soon' after his entry. He Is recovering satis factorily. Mrs. Fred Muenchau returned home from the hospital on last Friday after a couple of weeks medical attention. W. L. elite's brother-in-law Mr. Elmer Bennet's funeral ser vices were held Sunday after noon at the Alvo Methodist Church. Mrs. Raymond Manners and Mr. Melvin Adams of Eagle sang with Mrs. Vera Sutton of Alvo, at the organ. Geo. Rockenbach received word of the death of his aunt, Mrs. Anna Rockenbach last Thursday at Alvo, Oklahoma. Several other relatives reside near Eagle. Robert Hanika Robert Hanika Completes 'Basic' LACKLAND AFB, Tex. Air man Robert C. Hanika, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold D. Austin, 324 Lincoln Ave., Plattsmouth, Nebr., has completed his initial course of Air Force basic mili tary training here. He has been selected to attend the technical training course for Radio and Radar Maintenance, at Keesler AFB, Miss. Airman Hanika is a graduate of Plattsmouth High School. Basic airmen at Lackland are selected for specialized training at technical schools on the basis of their interests and aptitudes. They are reassigned to the school after five weeks of basic training. At the technical schools they are given additional military training along with the technical instructions. Upon completion of special technical training at an Air Force Technical Training Cent er, airmen are assigned to oper ational units of the USAF Aero space Force. Sylvia Beckard, Dale Snokes Wed At Syracuse EAGLE (Special) Last Fri day evening at Syracuse Luth eran Church, Dale Snokes, son of Mrs. Margaret Snokes, and the late, Harry Snokes, of Eagle, was married to Sylvia Beckard of Unadilla, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beckard. Miss Colleen Beckard of Lin coln was maid of honor and bridesmatron was Mrs. Ivan Beckard. The bridegroom's brother, Dwight Snokes, Lincoln served as best man. Dale Rodaway of Cheney was groomsman. Ivan Beckard of Unadilla and Noel Kemper of Lincoln cousin of the groom were ushers. The bride wore a gown of lace and tulle over taffeta. The bod ice was styled with a scalloped Sabrina neckline. Her veil was held by a hairbraid crown. Mr. Snokes is a graduate of Eagle Schools and is employed at Cushman Motor Co., Lincoln. A basket dinner was served at noon. Ed Meisinger, president, call ed the meeting to order with 89 members and three guests attending. Guests were Dr. and Mrs. A. B. Lentz and Judy Ol sen. The Secretary and treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Doro thy Meisinger. During the past year, two deaths, five marriages, and 14 births were recorded. The oldest member present was Henry Engelkemier. The youngest member was Kevin Bond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Er nest Bond. Louis Puis, of San Francisco traveled the farthest to attend. Juckcit Construction Co., Linco!, Obituary Mrs. Andrew IJockenbach EAGLE (Special) Mrs. An drew Rockenbach of Alva, Okla., died Aug. 1.1, at the age of 95 years, 9'2 months at the Alva General Hospital. She was Anna Barbara Rcitter before she was married to An drew Rockenbach who proceed ed her in death in 1047. She was born Oct. 19, KS65 in Germany. She was a sister of the late George Reitter who proceeded her in death seven years ago. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Clara Wlebener of Alva, Okla. two sons, Edward of Roswell, N. Mex., and Elmer of Belle Plains, Kans., and an adopted daughter, Dorothy of Douglas, Kans. Services were Aug. 19 in the Friends Church. The Rev. Fran ces Ross officiated. Burial was in the Alva Muni cipal Cemetery. Those attending the funeral from Nebraska were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Plymale of Millard, and Caroline and Freda Rcitter of Lincoln.
