S. Department of Agriculture ento mologist stationed at the Uni ver ity of Nebraska. Calvin Jones says face fly pop ulations are increasing again after a temporary decrease due to cooler weather. They could migrate throughout much of Ne- raska this year. Face flies can be controlled with DDVP syrup baits for dairy animals and toxaphene in back- rubbers for beef animals. Re search is in progress to deter mine ways of controlling the in sect through feed additives and spraying of pastures, but most likely no new control method will be approved in the near future.
