They formerly lived in the Murdock vicinity. Dale Murdoch was able to be i p in a wheel chair for the first time last week. Mr. and Mrs. Rax Peters were flown to the States by helicopter last week for a much needed vacation. Since 1954 Mr. Peters has had assignments with the government in Amman, Jordan, Tripoli, Benghazi, Lybia, West Pakistan, and Sudan, to combat one of the serious agricultural problems. Mr. Peters was in strumental in delivering 200,' 000 bushels of grain to these countries to help relieve under nourishment. They will return in a few days for another year of service. Under the new ad ministration the government has c.istributed 3,500,000 bushel. The Big Jets played Louisville on Wednesday evening. Murdock lost 6 to 7. Carol Burrill spent a week of her vacation visiting a friend Melva Estabrook of Sebeka, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pinkow- ski and their three small chil dren of N'aperville, Illinois have been visiting at the Louis Wehr- man and Fred Neuman homes. Both families are related to Mr. and Mrs. Pinkowski. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Backemey- er and Kenny are on their vaca tion in Minnesota. Mariel Ann Stock celebrated her 18th birthday by being com pletely surprised at a slumber party given by her cousin, Bon nie Stock, last Thursday eve ning. ; Rev. and Mrs. Boerger and family returned Tuesday from a two weeks vacation at Wood ruff Wisconsin. Mr. Bill Oliver was able to re turn to his work this week after a week in the hospital W. O. Gillispie returned home Friday fiom the hospital, he is reported much improved. Mrs. Lillian Gakemeier re turned Friday to her home in Chicago after spending a week with friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Swarts of Ashland called on Mr. Herman Gakemeier who has been 111. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rase and family enjoyed a picnic last Sunday at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Rase of Louisville. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hiem of Audubon, Iowa visited friends in the Murdock area Sunday. Mr. Hiem is the former Supt. of Schools in Murdock. Mrs. William Streich and Mrs. Lydia Streich celebrated their birthday at the Joy Miller home near Elmwood, a family picnic was ?n;ioyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Mark RIkli and family of Oklahoma are visit ing irienas and relatives in Murdock. Mark Rikli is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wiil Rikli. Douglas Williams spent last Sunday with Jimmy Mills. A. Carlson of Waverly. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stock went to Milford Sunday to get Bruce who had been attending the E.U.B. camp at Riverside Park this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Boiler and family called at the Oliver Boiler home in Greenwood Sun day forenoon. Mrs. Oliver Boiler had been taken in Marcy's Am bulance to the Bryan Memorial hospital during the night. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Trulling- er and family of Omaha enjoyed a barbecued supper and cook out with Mr, and Mrs. John Jones and family Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Weston, Cindy, Carla and Clay and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heier and Jimmy spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weston and Eugene helping the elder Mr. Weston observe his birth day. Home made ice cream and cake was served. Mrs. Melvin Sturm called on Mrs. Cirl Parks Friday after noon Rev. Peter Ackerman and family, the youngest of which are twin daughters 8-months-old, of Great Bend, N.D., were overnight guests with Mrs. Gus- sie Jockens. Mrs. Ralph Greene and her two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Xeckler of Weeping Water and Mrs. J. S. Deerirg of Phoenix, Ariz, were luncheon guests of Mrs. Greene's daughter, Mrs. Max Lamb of Lincoln on Tuesday. Mrs. Hubert Bishop returned home from Denver last Satur day. She brought a friend's 9-year-old Mary Theresa Hinter riter, to spend the rest of the s 'mmer at the Bishop home. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Means of Omaha drove down to get her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Arm strong and take them for a week's stay in their home, July, 9th to July 16. Lillian Huffman and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heesch of Shenan doah, Iowa were Monday visitors at the home of Mrs. Minnie Huffman and Roberta. The Edmund Steiner family and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Chen ey of Lincoln attended the Steiner family reunion last Sun day at Burchard Lake near Bur chard. While her husband attended the FFA convention in Lincoln last week, Mrs. Glenn Nicklas and 4 boys spent the time with her mother, Mrs. Mary Williams and sister Helen Schneider. We are glad to report that Mrs. Wil liams has improved a great deal since her illness. Last week Mr. and Mrs. Russell Reeder of Cambridge were here to visit a few days. Sharon Fredenburg, Joan and Sharon Charling, of Elmwood, and Doris Halbert of Raymond returned Monday from Fort Robinson where they had spent the week vacationing. They en joyed bathing, boating, fishing, hiking, riding etc. Returning from a 10 day trip, last Friday, were Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Robb. They visited their daughter, the M. C. Busselle family at Aurora, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tyson and Lois Brown families of Eaton, Colo, and the Harry Linders at Love land, Colo. Thursday overnight guests at the Methodist parsonage were Mr. and Mrs. Casper Kahn and son Denny of Sauk City, Wiscon sin. They are uncle and aunt of Mrs. Hansen. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Clements of Lincoln attended the funeral services of Mrs. Renswold. The relatives were served lunch at the Guy Clements home. Mr. and Mrs. DeLor Swarts re turned from their 4-day trip whin they visited the Harry Lindei's at Loveland, Colo, saw Estes Park and mountain scen ery which they thoroughly en joyed. Earl Horton returned home from the hospital Saturday af ternoon where he had minor surgery. He entered the hospital on Thursday. Helping to celebrate the birthday of brother-in-law Rob ert Schriner were Elda Lenz, Or ville Lenz and family; and the Louis Kowski's. Sunday dinner guests of the C. A. Bronn's were their son and family Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Bronn, Perry, and Steven of Bennett. Afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Streich, and Mrs. Valjean Stall and sons, last Saturday evening. Mrs. Esther Wenzel Hughes of PhoenlxVille, Pennsylvania, arrived via plane, last Tuesday to visit a few weeks at the home of her father, Mr. R. C. Wenzel and other relatives. Mr. Hughes and daughter Betsy will come in a couple of weeks from Pa., and the family will remain until the middle of August, with Mr. Wenzel. Mrs. Elda Schroder left on last Wednesday evening via train for Lusk, Wyoming, to visit her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Leon ard Seeman and families, and will also visit her sister and hus band, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schro der at Grant, Nebr., during her two weeks stay and vacation. Dr. Sampson of Lincoln could not deliver the message at Eagle Methodist Church last Sunday as planned and Prof. John Rosen strator, Emeritus of Nebraska Wesleyan gave the sermon. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Westlake and sous, Messr. and Mines. Clinton and Clarence Westlake and families attended the wed ding ceremony of a nephew and cousin Mr. Charles Dean Heeb ner to Miss Mary Roben at Ne braska City on Saturday after noon. A reception was held at the Steinhardt Park, following the ceremony. Mrs. Heebner, will teach, at Ralston, Nebr., this fall and Mr. Heebner will continue his employment, with his father, at Plattsmouth. The couple will reside nt Plattsmouth. Mrs. Jesse Westlake remained overnite Saturday evening at the home of her sister, Imo Heebner at Nebraska City and on Sunday Miss Heebner and sisters Mrs. Westlake of Eagle and Mrs. Ma tilda Markland of Weeping Water motored to Harlan, Iowa, and visited an ill cousin at the new Baptist Rest Home and also visited at Oakland, Iowa. Mrs. Westlake returned home Monday via bus. Clinola and Helen Westlake left on Monday afternoon for Camp Jefferson, M.Y.F. camp near Fairbury, Nebraska, ses sion until next Sunday, July 30t?s. Other guests were the visiting daughter (Doris and family) Mr. and Mrs. William Denny, and daughter Barbara, of Des Moines, Iowa. Barbara re mained for a two weeks visit with relatives. Her parents re turned home, Sunday afternoon. Rev. and Mrs. Paul Schmidt and family, of Nebraska City, Nebr., visited at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Wulf, on last Friday. Barbara Denny, of Des Moines, Iowa, visited at the home of her cousin and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Kunz, and family near Elmwood, Nebr., during her two weeks visit and vacation in Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. Eldee McKay and son Ellis attended the Pal myra Boy Scout "Court of Honor" meeting at the Legion Hall last Friday evening. Out-of-state relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jetters of Baltimore, Maryland, (a sister and husband of Mrs. Robert Walker) visited at the Walker home Sunday aft ernoon, and overnite continuing on their trip to visit other rela tives on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Kirwin and family of Lincoln called at the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker Sr. on last Sunday eve ning, and also visited the aunt and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jetters, visiting at the latter's sister's home. Mr. and Mrs. Eldnn Sorensen and family of Ruskin, Nebr., vis-1 ited at the home of her parents. Mi. and Mrs. Charlie Scatter good, on last Sunday. Lynn and Lil.i Rae Sorenson, who had en joyed a week at the grandpar ent's home, returned home with their parents Sunday evening. Mrs. Don Shockley of BJand, Missouri, visited at the home of her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Page recently. During her stay, a sister of both, Mrs. Frances Brinkman. of Syracuse nrovidins transportation motored to Pinej Bluff, Wyoming, and visited their sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Orris Lanning, Je3.se and Clinton Westlake attended the Cass County Extension Club Council meeting Monday after noon at Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Stanek and his parents, of Lincoln, called at the hom; of Mr. and Mrs. Her man Folken Wednesday evening to visit the latter's mother, Mrs. Lutjmeyer, who made her resi dence at the Stanek apts at one time, prior to her convalescence, at the daughter's home in Eagle. The Cass County Church School and County officers are meeting at the Nehawka Meth odist Church on Friday evening, July 23'h. The County Conven tion will be held at Nehawka, Nebr., this fall for all church schools. Mrs. Florence West Oay and 2 children, son and daughter, of Des Moines, Iowa, arrived via train on Friday at the home of Mrs. Laura West. The latter's son, Mr. and Mrs. Richard West end two daughters, of Granite City, 111., arrived for a visit at the mother's home on Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rudolph of Malcolm, Nebr., visited at the home of his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Umland Sunday. The guests also called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer on Sunday eve ning, enroute home. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Morton, of Alvo, Nebr., visited at the home of Mrs. Bettie Underwood last Friday afternoon, and all enjoyed a .fishing outing during the day. Mrs. Underwood was a dinner guest at the Morton home, on Saturday. Mrs. Buttle Underwood attend ed a family gathering with rela tives and friends, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hobart Henson's near Wabash, Nebr., on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schroder and twin sons, visited last week end, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Sankup near Western, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Don Wulf and family of Papillion, Nebr., vis ited Friday evening and Satur day, of last week, at the home of his father, Mr. Henry Wulf. , Union Items Phone 2441 Mrs. L. C. They came from Texas, Arizona, Lincoln, Omaha, Weeping Water, Nebraska City, Union and Alvo. Mrs. Lavern Crunk and chil dren of Kansas were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Martin.
