Elmwood Churches KLMWOOD (Special) Chrls ti. ui - Special music Sunday was i,v the Rev. William Bavis and Mrs. Chester Irons who sang. A Fellowship supper was en joyed Sunday night, by all mem bers. Methodist Special music Sun day morning was the Intermedi ate choir accompanied by Nancy Miller. The Intermediate and Senior MVP were guests Sunday i veiling with the EUB youth. Next Sunday morning the Junior choir will sing. Catholic Summer school be gins Monday, May 29. The two Mercy Sisters will stay at the Albert Seiker home. KUB-The Youth Fellowship of the EUB Church of Elmwood sponsored a roller skating party, Friday May 19 at Elmwood rink. Melvin Luetchens, a senior at Wcstmar College, LeMars, Iowa, was guest speaker last Sunday at services In the Immanuel church near Murdock, and the Evangelical United Brethren church at Elmwood. The Em manuel church members signed the Recommendation for Li cense for Melvin, who expects to receive his License to Preach at the Annual Conference to be held in Hastings in June. The Youth of the Elmwood EUB church sponsored the film One Love, Conflicting Faith," with the youth of the Methodist church of Elmwood, and the peo ple of the Murdock church as g u e s t s. Refreshments were served after the film. BIBLE SCHOOL ALVO (Special) Bible School will start Wednesday, May 31, and will be at the school. ' Mrs. Thomas Boardman Miss Heard Weds Thomas Boardman At Louisville LOUISVILLE (Special) Mar riage vows were exchanged May 13, by Ncrma Jean Heard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon ard Heard and. Thomas W Boardman, son of Mr. and Mrs Lawrence W. Boardman all of Louisville. The double ring ceremony was read in the Methodist church at 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. William McCord, before a candlelighted altar flanked by baskets of white gladioli trimmed with blue rib bon. Tapers were lighted by Kathy Heard, sister of the bride and Heulen Heard, cousin of the bride. Cindy Sue Patton, niece of the bride, was flower girl, and Alan Johnson, nephew of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. Music was furnished by James Heard, brother of the bride. He sang "The L ord's Prayer" and '"Because. ' Given in marriage by her la ther, the bride wore a dress of pure white silk organza with jewel encrusted appliques. The long sleeved bodice, featuring a sabrina neckline, narrowed to a slender waist and the volumi nous skirt extended into a cath edral train. Her fingertip veil of illusion was held in place by a jeweled tiara. Attending-tUe bride were Mrs. Janelle Eastriclge, sister of the bride, who served as matron of honor, and Sandra Doty, a friend, as bridesmaid. They wore identical full skirted dresses of white embroidered nylon over blue taffeta with matching shoes. Their hats were of blue net with velvet bows. Paul Powell, a friend of the bridegroom served as best man and the groomsman was Robert Larsen of Omaha. Ushers were Bernard Johnson of Nebraska City and Gary Greebe of Spring field. Following the ceremony a re ception was held in the church parlors for 150 guests. Punch and coffee were served with the four tiered wedding cake from a table decorated in pink, blue and white. After a wedding trip the couple is at home in Elkhorn where Boardman is a service man for People's Natural Gas. ALVO PUPILS TOUR ALVO (Special) Tuesday morning, Mrs. Luncak, the 7th and 8th grade teacher, and Mrs. Mettlen, the 5th and 6th grade teacher took their rooms on a trip to Lincoln, touring the Capi tol and Museum. Mrs. Harold Timblin, Mrs. Jake Dougherty and Mrs. Wilson Howe took cars and went with the group on the tour. Plattsmoufh Mrs. Frank Hurlbut Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Maugham were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snejkel of Schuyler and Mr. and Mrs. George Schmidt of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Grady were Mothers Day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rosencrans and sons of South Bend and Grady received a Mothers Day long distance greeting from Mrs. John Gakemeier of Fari bault, Minn. Miss Mary Knolle and Paul Herman of Lincoln spent Sun day with Miss Knolle's grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Mar vin. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jewell and son were Sunday supper and evening guests of Mr. Jew ell's parents, Mr and Mrs. And rew Jewell of Fremont. Mrs. Mildred Comstock spent Mothers Day with Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Bates and family of Lin coln. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Haertel and family spent Sunday eve ning with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Damme of Cook. Mrs. Hardy Gustafson receiv ed a long distance Mother's Day greeting from her son Bill Gus tafson of Niceville, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bell and Lloyd spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Duane Lastroh and family in Lincoln. Mrs. Richard Schuelke was also a guest. Mrs. Ina Armstrong joined a family Mothers Day at the James Armstrong home in Fre mont. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Armstrong and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Armstrong and family and Mrs. Ferris and Mrs. Clara Armstrong of Lincoln. They all enjoyed a picnic dinner at the State Lakes near Fremont. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wright were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright and son of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wright were Sunday af ternoon callers. Richard Hoback of Avoca who was injuried in a car-train wreck last week at Greenwood has been released from the hos pital and getting along fine. Dan Griffith of Omaha spent last week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Mayhard Griffith and famr ily. ' Orville Sandy was a Friday evening supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Holmes at Ashland and a Saturday evening supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Armstrong. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nelson of Ashland were Sunday evening visitors of Orville Sandy. Jack Reighard returned to the Navy in Hawaii after spending a month of leave at his home. Mrs. Walter Woitzel called on Robert Graham, Mrs. Ben How ard, Mrs. Vernon Greer and Her man Bornemeier all who are patients at the Byron Memorial Hospital, Sunday afternoon. Henry Kirk suffered a heart attack Tuesday and he was taken to the University Hospital Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kirk re ceived telephone calls Sunday, from their daughter, Mrs. Fay Montney of Billings, Mont, and son, Edwin of Pleasant Hill, Greenwood Club Notes GREENWOOD (Special) The Happy Homemakers Extension Club met Wednesday, May 17, at the home of Mrs. Albert Hill with 8 members and 2 visitors present. Mrs. Osyth Stradley gave a talk on "Your Postoffice and You." Plans were made to repaint picnic tables in the park. Next meeting will be with Mrs. Ken Carpenter. The Rock Creek Homemakers Extension Club met at the home of Mrs. Harland Vinson with Mrs. Frances Hutchinson assist ant hostess; 11 members were present. They spent the afternoon soci ally and playing games. Ruth Circle met Tuesday at the Methodist Church with Mrs. Mabel Lambert as hostess. Mrs. Walter Woitzel gave the lesson. The Eastern Star met Wednes day at the home of Mrs. Walter Marolf. The Mother and Daughter sup per was well attended Thursday evening. The Theme of Hearts and Flowers was carried out with the table decorations. The toastmistress was Mrs. Ed Spradley and pianist was Mrs. Wayne Wright. Toast to Mothers was given by Gloria Hansen and toast to Daughters by Mrs. Elmer Lead abrand. There was two accordion num bers by Mary Wall and a piano solo by Mist- Alia Fulmer. The speaker was Mrs. Robert HollLngsworth and song leader Mrs. Vernon Hall. Calif., and Mr. Kirks sister, Mrs. Elsie Wilds of Brideport to in quire about Henry's illness. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Howard were Miss Nancy Lewis and Harvey Heimer of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lamb of Papillion spent last Monday evening at the Wayne Howard home. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hammer and family attended confirma tion service at Ceresco Sunday. Mrs. Hammer's nephew Glen Swanson was confirmed at this service. They were dinner guests at the Roy Swanson home after services. Mrs. Jake Hammer and Brian visited with Mrs. Dewey Parks one afternoon.
