Dorothy Van Ackern gave the devotions. Phyllis Miller, Eleanor Cool- man and Sadie Burcham pre sented the lesson, "philosophers who put things together. Plans were made for a Mis slonary Tea to be held May 7. District president, H. Lively of Omaha, will be the guest speak er. Blossom Yelick was hostess. Leone Tllson will be hostess for the next meeting. Childrens' Day Sunday at Methodist May 7-14 is National Family Week. The Methodist Church will observe Childrens' Day Sun day, May 7, with a program by the Sunday School in the church from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday School will be at the usual time 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. The Sunday School Depart ment has prepared a musical program for the observance and Reverend A. L. Embree, pastor of the church, will give a short sermon. Mrs. Lloyd Fitch, is the Sunday School Superintendent. Parents of the children and members of the churcn are in vited to attend. Services will be dismissed at 11:30. State President At Chapter Meeting The Alpha Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter met at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Fitch. The State president, Mrs. Margaret Howard of Omaha was an hon ored guest. Mrs. L. B. Todd was presiding officer. Meeting was spent going over the years accomplishments. Election of officers was held, and plans for the installation banquet were discussed. The Chapter has agreed to be host to the state convention here in May, 1962. Officers elected' for 1961-62 are as follows: President, Margaret Kroese; vice president, Mildred Newton; corresponding secretary, Marie H a 1 1 h; recording secretary, Mary Beverage; treasurer, lone Gleason; historian, Lucille Mc Lean and Chaplain, Rose Pro haska. Two Honored At Baby Shower A pink and blue shower honor ing Mrs. Donald Pechacek and daughter, Theresa Marie, was held Sunday, April 30 at the home of Mrs. Charles Thoma- son. Games were played and prizes were won. Gifts were received from a lace covered table, centered by a stork. Refreshments were served by the hosteses, Mrs. Kenneth Mei singer and Mrs. Thomason. Camp Fire Croup Elects Officers The Oki-ci-ya-pl Camp Fire Group met ft the home of Mrs. Ted Ohnoutka May 2. Officers were elected as follows: President, Teresa Weber; vice president, Dianne Farrell; secre tary, Patty Long; treasurer, Patsy Brink and scribe, Judith Ohnoutka. Guardian of the group is Mrs. Ted Ohnoutka. Her assistant is Mrs. Leonard Farrell and the sponsor is Mrs. Otto Weber. The group discussed the equip ment they will need to take for the overnight camp at Camp Harriet Harding. The remainder of the after noon was spent in going over the Flying-up Ceremony in which the group will take part at Camp. In this Ceremony the girls prog ress from Bluebirds to Camp Fire Girls. Refreshments were served. Women's Fellowship AVOCA (Special) The Wom an's Fellowship of the Congrega tional Church met with Mrs. Earl Freeman Thursday in the church parlors. Mrs. Spencer Lezer opened with a devotional she had written and used for the World day of prayer using as her theme "For ward Through The Ages." Mrs. Calvin Carsten opened the business meeting. It was voted to buy tile for the base ment floor. Tommy Conis Baptized Sunday Tommy Conis, three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Conis of this city, was baptized in the Greek Orthodox Church at Des Moines, Iowa, Sunday, April 30. Mr. and Mrs. John Conis of Ames, la., uncle and aunt of Tommy, were sponsors. George Conis, grandfather of Tommy, was present for the bap tismal service, as well as his brother, Sam Conis of Denver, Colo. George Conis was host to about 40 guests at a dinner at a steak house in Des Moines, fol lowing the baptism. Using spring flowers of tulips and white blossoms, the tables were colorful and beautiful. Pastel colored nut cups held tulips, mints and nuts. Candy fa vors by Feldhousen Drug. Mun- cie, Mrs. Jon Black, Mrs. John E. Carmack. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Dwaine StodoLa (Edna McCartney) Plattsmouth, are parents of a daughter at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City, April 30. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Jim Grosshans of LeMars, la., are parents of a 6 pounds 2 ounce daughter, Julie Ann, born April 24. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gross hans of Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Strawhacker, Rock Rapids, la. Mr. and Mrs. K. W. Grosshans and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Wiles of Plattsmouth are the great grandparents. Son Mr. and Mrs. DcWayne White head of Wilmington, Del., are parents of a son born May 3, weighing 8V2 pounds. Mrs. White head is the former Kathleen Feldhousen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Feldhousen of Platts mouth. The baby is the White heads' first. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hammons are parents of a daughter born May 2 at Shawnee, Kans. She weighed 8 pounds, one ounce. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Toman, Murray and Mr. and Mrs. Connie Hammons, Fair Play, Mo. Great grandmother is Mrs. Mary T. Toman, Platts mouth. The Hammon's have an other daughter and a son. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Gary Mikkelsen are the parents of a 9 pound 2 ounce daughter, Gretchen Vir ginia, born April 28 at Meth odist Hospital. This is the couple's first child. Grandpar ents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mc Peck of Harvard, Nebr., and Mr. and Mrs. Max Mikkelsen of Ken esaw, Nebr. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. John Williamson are the parents of a 5V2 pound daughter, Jonna, born May 3 it St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Williamson and Mrs. Catherine Spidell. Great grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Chet Spidell of Plattsmouth and Mrs. Tomandle and Mrs. Williamson of Seward. The couple has an other daughter, Jeannie. Son Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wcekley are parents of a 9 pound son born April 25. Club Woman's Collect recently set to music, and several songs by Nebraska composers was given by Miss Beverly George accompanied by Mrs. J. A. Cap well. Mrs. Dale Philpot served as toastmistress introducing guests Mrs. Elmer Ross, Cass County President; Mrs. Elmer Stoll, President of Nehawka Woman's Club; Mrs. George Sarver, Pres ident, and Mrs. Charles Dickens, of Plattsmouth Civic Club. The President's message given by Mrs. W. L. Heinrich included highlights of the State Federated convention in Grand Island. The soeaker of the evening was an address "Aren't You Lucky" by Mrs. Earl Whitaker, Omaha, accounting technician at SAC Headquarters. She made her listeners aware of the, neces sity of being alert and keeping I abreast of what is going on in our national defense program. The evening closed with the Cass County President. Mrs. Elmer Ross, installing the new officers: President, Mrs. W. L. Hein rich; vice president, Mrs. Dale Philpot; recording secretary, Mrs. Ernest C. Giles; corre sponding secretary, Mrs. L. W. Visiting and sick committee reported flowers and a get-well card had been sent to Beverly Sell, a sympathy card to Helen Hamilton and a sympathy card to Mary Potts and flowers for her husbands funeral. The Auxiliary served a dinner for the family on the day of the funeral. New Rituals and Rules and Regulations have been pur chased. At the first meeting in April a hat contest was held with prizes going to Arlene Kohout for the prettiest and Fanny Hickey for the silliest. An Easter gift was sent to a Muscular Dystrophy boy and a letter of thanks was received from the boy's mother. It was announced the Auxiliary would have two bowling teams in the State Bowling Tournament at Omaha. A ceremony honored Past Presidents Dorothy Janecek, Anna Schubech, . Irene Smith. Honey Lou Cole, Marjorie Willis and Arlene Kohout. Sophia Wol- ever represented the Charter Members. At the second meeting Mildres Dooley, Mathilda Shipley, Ila Jane Gochenour and Grace Eraas were initiated into the Auxiliary. The unit needs three more members to quadruple its quota. Nominations of officers was held and election was to be Thursday, May 4. A STARRING OTHER TOGGERY MOTHER'S DAY GIFT SUGGESTIONS JEWELRY Winters teen PTA Installs Officers Wlntersteen PTA held their April PTA meeting April 25, 7:30 p.m. at the school house. Installation of officers for the next year was held. Mrs. Ruby Gochenour was elected presi dent; Mrs. Dale Jackson, vice president; Mrs. Clifford Mc Graw, secretary and John Engle treasurer; Delegate to the Coun cil, Mrs. Kay Whitehouse. A basketball court is to be erected on the school grounds. Also a motion was made and sec onded for the repairing of the piano during the summer month. Enrollment for kindergarten children for the next year will be Mav 2 during the morning from 8:45 to 11:30. All parents that will have children in kinder garten are asked to come and register. The savings stamp program will be held again next year. The PTA will buy the stamps. Mr. McGraw, proeram chair man, introduced Mrs. Rosen crans. The children from Mrs. Rosencrans first and second grade, gave a bounce the ball selection. The golden book was won by the first grade, for having the most parents present at the PTA. The meeting adjourned and re freshments were served by Mrs. Clifford McGraw and Mrs. Rob ert Schrynemaker. Injured Girl Is Birthdv Honoree Laura Eledge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Eledge, fell and broke her elbow and Is at home now. Her mother had a surprise birthday partv for her May 3. Guests were Peggv Liddick, Karen Porter, Esther Ford, April Dasher, Linda Bowman, Linda, Gloria, Bonnie Thornton, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Rouse and Sus an, Mr. and Mrs. John Thomsen and girls, Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt Haley and family. Countyans To Help Carry Daisy Chain Four Cass County girls are among one-hundred-ten coeds have been named to carry the Daisy Chain, which lines the path of the May Queen and her court, during the University of Nebraska's annual Ivy Day festi vities Saturday, May 6. . The ceremonies will open at 9 a.m. at 11th and R streets. The May Queen and her court will be presented at 9:30 a.m. Members of the Daisy Chain and their organizations include: Susan Wood, Weeping Water, Alpha Xi Delta; Roberta Knaup.
