Rebekah District Meet at Nehawka NEHAWKA (Special) Dis trict 3 of the Rebekah Lodge to day had a special meeting at Nehawka. Afternoon and eve ning sessions were at the audi torium. The 6 o'clock banquet was at the Methodist church, served by the Junior Woman's Club. The state assembly president. Miss Helen Peacock of Pawnee City, presented a school of In struction. Alberta Warden of Nehawka Is the district president, Joy Ketcl liut is Noble Grand of the Local Lodge. Some work was done on the annual report which will soon be due at Department headquarters. Mrs. Mary O'Rourke renewed her membership after a few years absence. Friday evening Mr. and Mr3. John Downing, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Reighard, Mrs. Mildred Comstock, and Mrs. Osyth Stradley attended the Cass County meeting of American Legion Posts and Auxiliary Units at Louisville. Mrs. Comstock was elected as County Auxiliary vice-chairman for the year. After the short business meeting, it was turned over to Mr. Atchi son to show his pictures taken on his recent trip to Hawaii. Nineteen ladies were present. Organizations At Greenwood GREENWOOD (Special) The Cemetery Association will meet Friday afternoon, May 5, at the home of Mrs. Nlles Coleman. This meeting Is for election of officers. The ladies of the Womans So ciety of Christian Service took a tour April 28 to Omaha and vicinity. There were 21 and two men drivers, Raymond Eveland and Clarence Bucknell. They stoped at Neighborhood House then to Hilltop House and to Wesley House, a new and very modern building for senior citi zens and to near by C r o w e 1 Home which still has eideny neonle there. Lastlv we drove to Fontenelle Camp for the youth of the church. School Notes From Nehawka NEHAWKA (Special) The last meeting of the PTA was a dance at the school for the school children and parents Thursday evening. The high school students served punch from an ice bowl, with red roses frozen in the bowl, and cookies. Preceding the dance, the Band Mothers elected Mrs. R. R. An derson, president; Mrs. Dwight Cook, vice president; Mrs. Vance Balfour, secretary-treasurer. Retiring officers are Mrs. James Chriswisser, president; Mrs. Andersen, vice president, Mrs. Cook, secretary-treasurer. There will be a band concert the week following the close of school, the date to be announced. The Fairview Woman's Club met with Mrs. Eldon Menden- hall with 13 ladies present. Af ter a short business meeting Myrtle Wood showed pictures of her travels around the worm. Her comments and remarks a- hnnt par.h countrv were very in teresting and educational. Lunch was served by the hostess. Golden Years Lunch Held at Eagle EAGLE (Special) The Gold en Years Luncheon was held at the Eagle Methodist Church Monday. Pictures taken of the guests at the previous luncheon, were shown on slides. Afternoon visitors Sunday at the Orest Cook home were Mr. and Mrs. John Turner of Lin coln and Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Turner of Ashland. They were all supper guests at the Bud Cle ments home. Sunday dinner guests at the Richard Pratt home were the Merle Buell family of Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Herry Arnold were Sunday visitors at the Le Roy Cooks in Tekamah. Other visitors there were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Arnold of So. Dakota and Miss Harriet Arnold of Lin coin. Mr. Fred Pratt was hospitali zed Monday and expects to have surgery Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Borne meier were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stroemer in Alvo. The Beins family are busy re decorating the house they re cently purchased. It was the Dudley place. The Beins family come from Cedar Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Gonzales called on the Ralph Davidson's in Lincoln Sunday afternoon. The new home being built by Swain Neilsen is progressing very fast and also the one being built by Vickers of Alvo. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rosenow drove to Harvard Sunday to vis it the Ted Koeher family. The Lester Rosenow family also were guests. They called on Mrs. Souchec in Hastings. The Happy Homemakers Ex tension Club met at the home of Mrs. Robert Wall with 13 mpmhprs and 1 visitor present. A lesson on "Color and Clothes" was given by Mrs. A. W. Velder and Mrs. wiinam Leesley. The Dorcas Society met Fri day at the Christian Church with Mrs. Ina Armstrong as hos tess. Mrs. Armstrong also gave the devotions. The Grace Circle met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Glen Mar- olf. 12 members and 5 cimren were present. MYF Senior Group met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mar olf Sunday evening. The Hi Neighbor Club went on a tour In Lincoln Thursday. They visited the State Capitol building, State Reformatory and the Morrill Hall where they also saw the Dlastic woman. The group had dinner at a cafe. Mrs. George Rouse entertain ed the Deal-A-Deck pinochle party Thursday afternoon at her home. Mrs. Mildred Com stock and Mrs. Jack Wiles were guests. Hands Hurt WEEPING WATER (Special) Ray Norris suffered a pain ful accident on Thursday after noon. He had gone the length of his yard and started back ,ith tv.o lawn mower. It ev idently was not working right and he turned it on the side and In some way got his hand In the blade. He had on new leather gloves but it still cut and bruised the first two fingers of his right hand and it took fourteen stitches to close the wounds. He went back to tne oocior on Monday afternoon. NFCf Meeting The regular monthly meeting of the National Farmers Organi zation (NFO) was held at St. Patrick's Hall Manley, Monday evening. The meeting was called to or der by the president, Reginal Colbert. A short business meet ing followed. News releases from headquar ters at Corning, Iowa, were read. Mrs. Kenneth Hauschild and Mrs. Ted Wilson served lunch. Mrs. Lester Hoback suffered a painful accident on Mon day morning. She was helping Mr. Hoback with the washing and caught her hand in the wringer. She was taken to the doctor and it took quite a lot of stitches to close the cut in her thumb and the fleshy part of her hand. Mrs. Lynn Hoback of Avoca spent Monday at the Lester Ho back home to help care for her. A Classified Ad in The Journal cost as little as 50 cents.
