V-M V..UUII VJIYLo Circle Meets At Rodehorst Home Cleaners Circle of the Meth odist Church met at the home of Mrs. Wayne Rodehorst March 23. There were 17 mem bers and two quests present. Chairman, Mrs. Charley Chrls trnsen, opened the meeting with the poem "Our Personal Garden." Devotions were given by Mrs. Cecil MrKnight; Mrs. L. J. Hutchinson presented the lesson from the study book "Safe In Bondage." Mrs. Rodehorst told of plans for sunrise services Easter Sun day for the Junior department of the Sunday School. The spring rummase sale is planned for April 18 at the church. It was voted each member bring a tea towel to the next circle meeting to replenish the kitchen supply. Union Good Friday services will be at the Methodist Church at 2 p.m. The business meeting was ad journed and program chairman, Mrs. L. J. Hutchinson, conducted several games. Prize winners were Mrs. Fulton Harris and Mrs. John Schreiner. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Wayne Rode horst, Mrs. Fred Tesch and Mrs. Donald Grove. SATTLER Funeral Home Dial 3123 Daughter Mr., and Mrs. Don Pechacek are parents of a 8 pound, 4 ounce daughter, Theresa Marie, born March 30 at St. Joseph Hospital. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Koubek of Platts mouth; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pechacek of Omaha. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Koubek of Plattsmouth. Mrs. Pechacek is the former Joan Koubek. March Meeting of Kenosha Club The March meeting of the Ke nosha Club was held at the home of LaVonne Bell with five mem bers and three children present. Roll call was answered by giv ing a personal figure analysis. Plans for Mrs. Spangler to at tend the council were made, and further details later on the visit to a rest home. The lesson "Line and Design" was given by Elizabeth Snod- grass and LaVonne Beil. April meeting will be at the Snodgrass home. Ruth Toman will have the lesson on adolesc ence. Poetry Awards Our Lady of Loretto Court No. 709 Catholic Daughters of Amer ica held the regular business meeting at the Blue Flame Room at the Gas Office Tuesday evening. A workshop will be held in Columbus April 23. The April social meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. John Berg mann April 11 at 8 o'clock. Poems entered in the Poetry Contest sponsored by the court were read. On Thursday morn ing Mrs. Harold Lebens and Mrs. Helen Woolcott presented the awards at St. John's School. Winners in the 7th and 8th grades were Mary Jo Lebens 1st; Linda Morehead 2nd; Steph en Willett 3rd; Mary Weber, honorable mention. In the 4, 5 and 6 grade division 1st award Kathy Sedlak; 2nd, Mary Lynn McClanahan; 3rd, Patricia Smith and honorable mention to Mary Helen Svoboda. The winner's poems were sent to the State Chairman to com pete for state honors. Take Regent Exam The following Plattsmouth High School students today were to take the Omaha University Regents Scholarship Examina tion: Joseoh Arn, Glen Barnard, Karen Kiel, Suzanne Murdock, Barbara Wiysel and Donald Ye lick. CORINNE BOLDRA, Lessee Visitors Here From Brady Charles Egenberger, and son Terry of Brady, Nebr., were'vis itors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Carmack, lor several days. Chas., a former Plattsmouth boy is a nephew of Mr. Car mack and son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Egenberger, long time residents of Plattsmouth. While here they also visited with other relatives, and form er school friends. Mrs. Lochman Presides At Extension Meeting Mrs. Joe Lochman, vice pres ident. presided at the March 14 meeting of the Merry Workers Extension Club when thev met at the home of Mrs. Ralph Park- enlng. Thirteen members were pres ent, and one visitor, Mrs. Edna Long, a former club member. Treasurer, Mrs. Lyle Hild, re ported S6 had been sent to the Heart Fund. Cancer Fund and the Red Cross. The annual Club Soring Tour this year will be Anr.il 12. with the group going to "see "Ciner ama." The Sprin? Tea will be held May 2 at Weeping Water; the Merry Workers will serve. "Line and Design in Clothing" was eiven by Mrs. Robert Kiser and Mrs. Henry Vinduska. The afternoon was concluded with refreshments served by the hostess. Next meeting will be April 11 at the home of Mrs. E. G. Ruff ner. Mrs. Ernest Bond will give the study program lesson on "Health and Personality of Your Child." Housewarming Given Eggerts' The Henry Eggert family were pleasantly surprised Saturday evening when friends called at their new home, 209 South 16th St., for a housewarming. The party was no-host with the ladies bringing and serving re freshments. The men of the party enjoyed playing cards while the ladies visited. The group presented Mr. and Mrs. Eggert and their four children with a TV Chair. Those giving the party were Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Lamas cus, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Svo boda, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ker sten and children, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kahout and son, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. William Knowles and son, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Montgomery and four sons, Mr. and Mrs. James Lamascus and children, Mr. and Mrs. Raplh Rhodes, all of Plattsmouth. Also Mr. and Mrs. Karl Raess ler of Chicago, 111., Mr. and Mrs. Claud Jolly of Bellevue, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Mankey of Bellevue. Birthday Party At Murray Saturday A celebration was held Satur day evening March 25 at the Russell Spangler home near Murray honoring W. O. Burbee who was 80 years old. The occasion also honored Ray Chriswisser, his 76 birthday being March 26. The sons and daughters and their families and the grand children and their familes at tended. Cake, Ice cream and coffee were served. the was Sciuare Dance Club Cains New Members The regular dance of Plattsmouth Promenaders held Friday evening at the Lions Building. Five new couples joined, the club membership, making a total of 23 couples. The new members are Ralph and Bonnie Younker. George and Mary Lou Born, Giles and Norinne Bishop, Bill and Deloris Schroeder and Ronald and Sharon Pohlmeier. Host couples for the evening were George and Mary Lou Born and Bob and Bernie Martens. Tuesday, April 4 A meeting to plan a reunion of the Plattsmouth High class of 1931 will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Gas Company Office here. All class members who can attend are urged to do so. Thursday, April 6 Dads of Camp Fire and Blue Bird girls will meet in the Blue Flame Room at the Gas Com pany at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6 Eagles Auxiliary will meet at 8 p.m.. honoring Charter Mem bers and Past Presidents. There will be an Easter bonnet contest with prizes for the prettiest and funniest. Mrs. Mabel Murray is in St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Room 471. She had surgery Wednesday and will be hospitalized about a week. She is the mother of Mrs. Arnold Meisinger. 8 & 10 Salon Celebrates 12th Anniversary Monday Cass County Salon 441 Eight and Forty celebrated their 12th anniversary Monday evening with a dinner served by Mrs. Al McClanahan. The tables were set In the meeting room of the 40 & 8 Club; rabbits and Easter eggs served as table decoraltnos. The committee in charge of the party was Mrs. Charles Ault, Mrs. Mary Nelson and Mrs. Joe Zastera. Members were present from Elmwood, Louisville, Belle vue, Union, Weeping Water and Plattsmouth. Following the dinner the meet ing was conducted by the chapeau Mrs. Ethel Strabel. A letter was read from the Kearney TB Hospital thanking the Salon for the money sent for Valentine treats for the children. It was moved to send $10 to the bed fund for the National Jewish Hospital. Mrs. Oliver Schiber, Cass County TB Seals Chairman re ported a total of $1,280.40, from the sale of TB seals. Mrs. Schi ber was very happy with the final total. She thanked Mrs. John Schutz and Mrs. Eugene Vroman for their help in opening the envelopes and counting the money. Mrs. Harry Gobelman, Pres ident of Cass County TB Associ ation, . announced the annual meeting to be held in Weeping Water and urged all board mem bers to attend. Mrs. Gobelman, Area B Demi Chapeau, announced the area meeting to be held in Union sometime in May. April meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Abbie Wise man In Weeping Water. Mrs. Wiseman thanked the members for the cards while she was ill. Mrs. Donald Harper of Omaha and Miss Carlisa Barnard were hostesses. Filfteen guests played games and prizes were won by Mrs. Carolyn Winters. Plattsmouth: Mrs. Shirlee Bowman, Fort Crook; Mrs. Phyllis Miller, Plattsmouth; and Mrs. Naomi Wever of Omaha. The manv lovely gifts were opened by the honoree and later refreshments were served. Mrs. Draper is the former Loretta Thornton of this city. Mrs. Cass Dies At Masonic Home Mrs. Emma E. Cass, 75, died at the Nebraska Masonic Home March 28. She had been con fined to bed for the past four years. She was born August 31, 1885 at Obbieville. Ind., the daugh ter of Joseph and Mary Lou Sexson Freeman. She married Arthur W. Cass Dec. 10, 1910. They had two adopted sons, Joseph Cass of Fort Bliss, Texas and Richard Cass of Cheyenne, Wyo. who survive. Mrs. Cass was a pleasant and cheerful person and had many friends even though she suffer ed a stroke at the age of 25. In 1944 she was severely burned by hot coffee on the legs and has been in the wheel chair since that time. She and her husband made their home in Lyons, Nebr.; he died there in Feb. 1938. She came to Plattsmouth 11 years ago, and entered the Masonic Home through Pilot Lodge No. 240 AF & AM of Lyons. Funeral services will be at 3:30 Friday at the Caldwell Linder Chapel, with the Rever end A. L. Embree, pastor of the Methodist Church here, offici ating.
