Omaha Credit Association Sets Record for Loans Loan activity of the South Omaha Production Credit Asso ciation reached an all-time high during the months of January and February, officials reported Friday. The amount of loans made during these two months total ed $2,118,600, an increase of 53 percent over the same period last year. 172 loans were closed, up 25 percent from 1960. The association now h a s a membership of 890 farmers and stockmen and the total capital and reserves exceed $900,000 for the first time in its 27 year his tory. The PCA reports total loans outstanding of 637. This is the largest number of loans held by any of the 40 PCAs in the eighth Farm Credit District which in cludes the states of Iowa, Ne braska, South Dakota, and Wyo ming. Don Hovendick, general man ager of the association, credits the part of the increased activ ity to a slight easing of the cost price squeeze affecting farmers in the area as the result of good crop yields in 1960 and better livestock prices than expected, with these factors contributing to more optimism among the members. Mild weather this winter helped, he added. The association makes farm operating, livestock, and equip ment loans to farmers in seven Eastern Nebraska counties. Of fices are maintained at Omaha, Tekamah, Fremont, Wahoo and Weeping Water. rso New Leaa in Station Robbery No new lead has been found in the recent theft of money from Kent Oil Service. Station. The only discriptions officer have to work with is the height of the subject and a shoe im print band at the scene. Sheriff Tom Solomon said the print was made by a "military type shoe."
