The 16 members present were from Elmwood, Union, Bellevue and Plattsmouth. Chnpeau Ethel Strabel pre sided over the business meeting. The following correspondence was read. A call by the Depart mental Chapeau to a fidwlnter pounolre to be held In North Platte Feb. 18th. All members were urged to attend Letters were read from the National Jewish Hospital in Denver and the Keam?v T. B. Hospital thanking the members for the Checks at Christmas time and telling of the gifts pur chased for the children. The Salon members voted to send $2 to the Kearney T. B. hospital to buy treats for the Children on Valentines day. The members voted to send a check for $5 to the Historical Society in memory of Frank Smith for his interest and help in the publicity of the salon. Cass County T. B. Seal Chair man Minnie Schiber reported $1270.40 in seal sales to date, and she asked all who had not re turned their envelopes to do so as the money Is needed and accented any time. At the close of the business meeting games were played with the following winning prizes, Nettie Ruse, Sophia woiever, Mary Gobelman, An nette Fitznatrick. Mollie Gobel man. Elsie Schutz, Marguerite Feldhousen, Ethel Strabel, Hel en Vroman and Suzie Cook. Eagles Auxiliary Holds Meetings The Eagles Auxiliary held January meeting with Madam President Elvera Lahoda pre siding. Worthy President Robert Gall thanked the Auxiliary for help at the Christmas Party and dinner preceding the party. The New March of Dimes com mittee asked for help and Honey IiOu Cole and Dorothy Janecek volunteered. Faye Meisinger was Introduc ed as pianoist. Dues card was won by Gladys Kemp. Art Ehrmann, editor of the Eagle Magazine gave a talk to the Auxiliary. It was announced that the State Bowling Tournament would be held at Roseland Bowl, South Omaha, starting the weekend of April 15 and 16 and continuing the next two weekends. The auxiliary was asked to help the Aerie with the District Meeting which will be held Feb. 26. Dutch lunch was served. W T D C H! Johnson of Eagle celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with the members of their Immediate family. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have resided in Eagle for the past 12 years and prior to that lived on a farm northwest of Eagle. Mrs. Johnson was Dossie Barry prior to her marriage. Children are Mrs. Harvey Heier, Paul B. Johnson and Jun ior Johnson all of Alvo. Grand children include Harlan Car leen, and Marian Johnson of the Paul Johnson family and La Vane and Gary Johnson of the Junior Johnson family. Christian Women's Fellowship Meets WEEPING WATER (Special) The general meeting of the Christian Women's Fellowship was held on Thursday afternoon in the church parlors with 16 members present. Mrs. Lynn Rothe, president, ODened the meeting with group sinering and prayer. Mrs. Charles Freeman was in charge of a memorial service for Mrs. Edgar Burgen. Mrs. Henry KnauD played "Be yond the Sunset" during the memorial service. Mrs. William Klemme gave a service renort. She urged all the members to save old nylon hose and postage stamDs, other than the ordinary one, two, three and four cent stamps. These are used for missionary projects. Mrs. Rothe announced the workshop will be held at Omaha First Christian Church Jan. 31. Mrs. Ben Cannon presented the worshit) service as used as her topic, "Lest We Miss Our King dom's Goal." Mrs. Leo Chris tensen gave the missionary les son on the same topic. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Victor , Swartz and Mrs. William Klemme. " "w Blue Bird News Bonnie Blue Birds met at the home of their leader Mrs. Leo Brink with 11 members present. Kathy Berlett, Barbara Brink and Mary Margaret Brink are new members. We made pincushions and re freshments were served. Naomi Circle At Davis Home Naomi Circle of the First Methodist Church met at the home of Mrs. Howard Davis Jan. 19 with Mrs. Frank Gm soiiy ana Mrs. Harry wnite as assistant hostesses. Fourteen members and one guest were present. Mrs. Pearl Mann, vice chairman, called the meeting to order at 2 o'clock in the absence of the circle chair man who was ill. Mrs. William Heinrich gave the devotions emphasizing pray er. Plans for the PEO dinner were discussed. Lenten study begins Feb. 15 with Mrs. Vern Waterman. Mrs. Dale Philpot gave the lesson. Refreshments were served by the committee. Couple Leaves To Make 'Home in West Mr. and Mrs. J. J. O'Connell left Wednesday night by train to make their future home in Castro Valley, Calif. The couple came to Platts mouth a few years ago from Minnesota and established the O'Connell's Department Store at 6th and Main Street. They have disposed of their store and property here to retire in the sunny west to be near their children. Rose Prohaska and brother have purchased the O'Connell's home. Miss McKinney Honored At Shower Miss Patty McKinnev was hon ored Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Dale Jackson at a mis cellaneous bridal shower. Games were played and prizes awarded to the winners. An umbrella decorated the gift table In .pink and lavendar col ors. Refreshments were served to the 25 guests present by Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. William Goch- enour. Miss McKinney will marry David Gochenour February 12 at the Mynard EUB Church. Mrs. Clazebrook Birthday Honoree Wednesday a surprise birthday party was held for Mrs. Howard Glazebrook at her home here. given by Mrs. Arvil Campbell. Ten guests were present. Games were played, prizes going to Mrs. Melvin Glazebrook, Mrs. Hurcle Garrlnger, Mrs. Alex Campbell, Mrs. Larry Campbell and Mrs. Howard Glazebrook. Mrs. Glazebrook received nice gifts. Refreshments were served with Mrs. Norman Kelll- son assisting the hostess. Good Luck Club Meets at Murdock MURDOCK The Good Luck Club met at the home of Mrs Wm. Zoz Jan. 18 with 13 mem bers and two visitors present. Mrs. Glenn Harger and Mrs. Orlin Burrill gave the lesson on Fabrics and Drapes. Lunch was served by Mrs. Wil lard Stock, Mrs. Grace Blessing and the hostess. Mrs. Robert Lichtenberger, reporter. Son Lt. and Mrs. Allan Harvey are parents of a boy born Jan. 22 at Offutt Air Force Base Hospital, weighing 8 pounds, 13 ounces. He has been named Al lan McGrath. Grandparents are Mrs. A. E. McGrath of Danville, 111. and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harvey of New York City. This is the couple's first child. The cele bration was held at the home of a son and dauehter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hamblen. Lowell Hamblen presided at the euest book. Mrs. Lowell Hamblen and Mrs. Newton Sul livan greeted the more than 100 friends who attended. Married Couples Club Meets at Seybold Home Eleven couples of the Married Couples Club of St. Paul's Church added uo to a full house in attendance at the home of Rev. and Mrs. G. E. James Raegan Jr.. Wash ington D. C. and Rev. Brunson Wallace of Ashboro, N.C., were speakers. Reagan spoke on Temperance, Dr. Soule on World Peace and Rev. Wallace on Intergradation. William McCord of Louisville was District Director. Attend Funeral Tuesday at York Tuesday, Mrs. George Stoll attended the funeral of a cou sin, Aaron Rauth, at York. He was the son of the late John and Bertha Batterson Rauth of Manley. Survivors are his wife, Ther esa; seven sons, two daughters, 15 grandchildren, a brother, Herman Rauth of Weeping Wa ter, and a sister, Mrs. John Rose of Auburn. A son, the Rev. Fr. Phillip Rauth of Lincoln officiated at the requiem high mass. A num ber of priests attended, includ ing Bishop Vincent Casey. A Classified Ad In The Journal cost as littl as 50 cents, Thola Hamblen Peggy Dasher cut the annlver- sary cake; Mrs. Kenneth Wohl- farth and Mrs. Ambrose Claus, granddaughters of the honorees, served coffee. The serving table was covered with a lace cloth over green; a centerpiece of yellow chrysan themums appointed the table. The anniversary cake was in the yellow and white colors. Mrs. Hamblen's corsage was of yellow chrysanthemums as was Mr. Hamblen's boutonniere. The couple was married at Plnebluff, Ind., Jan. 27, 1901. They moved to Plattsmouth In 1937 on a farm west of town. They are members of the First Baptist Church. They have two daughters, Mrs. Jay (Dorothy) Burch of Kan sas City, Kans., Mrs. R. L. (Jessie) Herriott of Midvale, Idaho and one son, Lowell Ham blen of Plattsmouth. They have seven grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. The great grandchildren present for the oc casion were Betty, Beverly ' Kar en and Denise Wohlfarth and Gary, Cheryl and Dianna Claus. .:Many lovely gifts, flowers, cards and congratulatory mes sages were recieved by the hon ored couple. Dr. Schlesinger To Speak Here. Dr. Allen B. Schlesinger will nresent two lectures Thursday, Jan. 26, as a "Visiting Scientist" under sponsorship of the Na tional Science Foundation. The Chairman of the Creigh- ton University Department of Biology will speak at St. John's Seminary, Elkhorn, and at Blair to the senior high school. The Creighton scientist is Associate Professor of Biology. He Is also slated to be guest speaker at the Plattsmouth Ro tary Club luncheon Tuesday noon, Feb. 2h Martin Rutt Chapter To Meet Feb. 5 A meeting of Martin Rutt Chapter of Daughters of Ameri can Colonists will be held at the home of Mrs. Charles O. Lewis, with Mrs. Lawrence Dilger, co hostess Sunday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. The program will be "National Defense" by Mrs. Dale Philpot, National Defense Chirman. All Officers and Committee Chairmen will give annual re ports. Election of Delegates for the State Assembly in Lincoln, March 18 and election of Dele gates for the General Assemb ly, National Society, Daughters of the American Colonists, Wash ington, D. C. on April 11 and 12, will be held. Platriinouth Narivea At Presidential Inauguration Among those attending the Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D. C. last week were Lieutenant Comander and Mrs. Allan E. White, son and daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Harr E. White of Plattsmouth. LCDR and Mrs. White attend ed the inauguration, witnessed the parade, and danced at the Inaugural Ball at the Statler Hotel as guests of Congressman Kenneth J. Gray of Illinois. 1 The Whites were also guests at a reception tendered by Con gressman Gray, and at another given by Senator Paul Douglas of "Illinois. At each they were privileged to meet and talk to many of the nation's outstanding leaders in business, science and politics. Atlantic Fleet Amphibious Force Cleaners Circle With Mrs. Nelson The Gleaners Circle of Methodist Church met at the: the I home of Mrs. Mary Nelson Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ' The meeting was opened with the Lord's Prayer. Devotions were given by Mrs. Wayne Rodehorst based on the Bible verse John 3:16. Mrs. Lowell McQuin present ed the lesson from the new study book "Safe In Bondage" by Robert W. Spike. Mrs. Charly Christensen, chair- man was in charge of the busi ness meeting. Literature was distributed about the World Day of Prayer February 17. It was announced that a Len ten study course to be, conducted by Mrs. Vernon Waterman will begin Wednesday, February 15. The book "Basic Christian Be liefs" will be studied. Ruth Circle Meets With Mrs. Clymer GREENWOOD (Special) The Ruth Circle met Jan. 17 at the home of Mrs. Ralph Clymer with 11 members present. The chairman, Mrs. Mabel Lambert presided. Following the business session the program topic "Looking Backward and Thinking For ward" was given by Mrs. Wayne Landon. The club was favored with a organ solo by Mrs. Miller. A mailing list for the March of Dimes was given to each member. Plans were made for the Bloodmobile to be in Green wood Feb. 10 at the Legion Hall. The club will be assisted by the Greenwood Woman's Club and will be in charge of can teen. Anyone in the Greenwood area who wish to donate blood may come to the Legion Hall Feb. 10 or contact Mrs. Alber Hill or Mrs. George Rouse.
