Lt. and Mrs. Lee Thorln and aaugnter or Lincoln called at the home of Mrs. Thorln's grandfather, Mr. R. C. Wenzel, Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Elda Schroeder enter tained with a dinner last Sunday. Guests were her few weeks old grandson and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schroeder, Palmyra and another son, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schroeder of Eagle. The babe "Kevin" will be baptized Sunday Jan. 22 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mrs. Herbert Oberle, returned home on Monday from the hos pital after undergoing surgery several days ago. It Is hoped she will continue to Improve. The Trinity Aid Members met at the Lutheran Church Thurs day afternoon in Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ostran der and family of Palmyra call ed at the home of former neigh bors, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene West and family Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. William Heavey, of Omaha are the parents of a baby girl born Dec. 3 1960. She has been given the name Nancy Anne. Maternal grandfather is Mr. Henry Wulf at Eagle. Mrs. Heavey is the former Dorothy Wulf, graduate of Eagle Schools. Mrs. Elmer Herr of Humboldt visited her sister, Mrs. Howard Root and family on Thursday. Mr. Melvln Mayer of Lincoln visited at the home of his cousin and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Trumble last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Fischer, also fit Mr. and Mrs. Archie Miller, former neighbors, near Alvo on Wed nesday. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Scatter good visited her aged aunt, Bertha Miller, at the Rest Haven Home at Weeping Water on Thursday afternoon. Reverend A. L. Embree went to Grand Island today to attend a world service conference of the Methodist Church. He will return Tuesday night. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Johnson and Eddy were Mr. and Mrs. Iver Johnson of Spirit Lake, la., Miss Dosena Hendricksen of Omaha. The Messers Johnsons are bro thers and are nephews of Miss Hendricksen. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Egenberger and son Jeffrey were also present for the family dinner and get-together. Mrs. Ray Kobald and daugh ters Mary Ursula and Mary Clare of Geneva, 111., were here at the weekend attending fun eral services for Mrs. Kobald's grandfather, W. O. Troop. Ed Kelly of South Bend is a patient at Veterans Hospital in Lincoln. The wedding of Pamela Kaf- fenberger and Ronald Williams Jan. 7 at the First Methodist Vickie of Lincoln motored to. Church here occurred on the Columbia Mo., last weekend and visited Mrs. Ersklne 's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Wibbels and enjoyed a family dinner, (honoring the latter's 50th wed' ding aniversary) at the home of their daughter and husband. Mr and Mrs. Wayne Deles Dernier and family at Columbia. Mrs. Eldee McKay and Mrs. Orris Lanning, attended a bridal shower, for the latter's neice, Georgia Faye Thompson, at the nome of Mrs. Arthur Thompson, near Palmyra, recently. , , Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Trumble of Eagle received word of the birth of baby girl born to latter's daughter Con nie and husband Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker Jr. on last Mon day. The Platts mouth Journal stated in a recent issue the Navy Mothers Club agreed to donate $12 to the March of Dimes Drive, when mey met at consumers ior a regular meeting. The amount Is incorrect. It should have read $2 in the article, the amount donated. Mrs. Otis Sudduth of Denver, Colo, arrived by train early Fri day morning to see her moth er, Mrs. Ethel Hennings, who Is in critical condition after a long illness. Mrs. Hennings is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Bartek, in Omaha. Mrs. Sudduth departed for her home Sunday night. Henry Starkjohn, surgery pa tient at St. Catherine's Hospital In Omaha, Is progressing nicely and hopes to be home later this week. Mrs. Susie Sporer of Murray was admitted to St. Joseph Hos pital In Omaha Sunday for an emergency surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thlele accompanied Mr. and Mrs. K. R. Jones to Weeping Water Sun day afternoon to call on friends. Mrs. Pearl Myers and Mrs. Sophia Wolever were weekend guests of friends and relatives in Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Myers visited at the home of her bro ther Ernest Davis and Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Wolever visited with Mrs. Helene Redfern. Mrs. D. E. Whitehead, the former Kathleen Feldhousen, left for her home on Thursday at Wilmington, Delaware. She was here to attend her brother's wedding and visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Feldhousen. Mrs. Luella Kehne is in St. Joseph Hospital. She had surg ery Thursday and is getting a long fine. She is in room 244. John Vallery is still undergo ing tests at St. Catherine's Hos pital in Omaha and is prepar ing to undergo surgery. Mrs. Albert and her sixth grade pupils at Central School were guests Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Herre and daughter Linda. Linda is a member of the class and was hostess, arranging TV viewing of the Inauguration and assist ed her mother in serving lunch to the guests. George Thun entered St. Catherine's Hospital Sunday, and is in room 121 for observa tion and treatment. Mrs. Trumble left via train on Wednesday nite to spend several days at the daughter's home. Mr., and Mrs. Jesse Westlake visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Heebner at Weep ing Water last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. August Klemme of Weep ing Water visited several days at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. James Remaley, recently. Busy Homemakers Have Workshops The Busy Homemakers 4-H Club enjoyed a night at the My nard EUB Church basement with Rheda Boardman and Judy Cole as hostesses. Especial enjoyment was had by the girls who joined in var ious workshops. Three girls in a kitchen, made delicious cinnamon rolls. After the baking was completed the girls themselves judged the rolls. The younger girls had a work shop on making cinnamon toast and cocoa. The girls were happy to hear we will have a workshop at the next meeting on making white bread. Following the cooking, the meeting was called to order by President Mary Kay Hendrix. It was decided that the 4-H girls would have a roller skating party on Friday, Feb. 27, at Ne braska City. The next meeting will be at the Mynard EUB Church base ment with the hostesses, Mary Kay Hendrix and Judy Harvey. Following"" the meeting sev eral girls gave demonstrations. WATCH for Announcement of SCANLANS Big 1961 FRICIDAIRE OPEN HOUSE PARTY Platteview Club Has Drapery Meet Platteview Extension Club met January 19, at the home of Mrs. George Schroeder. Thirteen members answered roll call by naming their favorite drapery fabric. It was voted to give $1 to each of the following: Pennies for Friendship, Diabetic Camp, and March of Dimes. Thank you notes were read from some of the folks who were sent boxes of candy and cook ies at Christmas. Part of the sewing was re turned ready to be sent to Uni versity Hospital. The rest is to be turned into Mrs. Omar Per singer by Febr. 2. The lesson "Fabrics for Cur tains and Drapes" was present ed by Mrs. George Gray and Mrs. Boyne Parson. Lunch was served by hostess Mrs. George Schroeder. Next meeting will be Febr. 16 with Mrs. Omar Persinger as hostess. Mrs. Boyne Parson, news reporter. Happy Hearts 4-H Club Has Meeting EAGLE (Special) The Hap py Hearts 4-H Club held its meeting Jan. 12 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Eagle, with Carla Wulf as hostess. Demonstrations were: Making a cake, Clinola Westlake; Bak ing Powder Biscuits, Carla Wulf; Measuring, Trudy McCoy; Table Setting, Carole Schmidt, and Color and Design, Janice Dor an. Discussions were on Quick Breads, Lunch Cloth and Nap kins, also on what was accom polished by members In their projects. Members judged biscuits and muffins.
