THE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA, SCIVU-WrfKLY JOURNAL PAGE SIX Thursday, January 19, 1961 Rcbekah Officers Are Installed Regular rreeting of the Re bckah Indue was held Monday evening with the following of ficers presiding, Ina Mae Sells, Noble Grand, Edith Akeson, vice Grand; Elva Aylor, secretary and Mary Nelson, treasurer; Helen Hurst musician. After the opening of the meet ing and the Introduction of the deputy president Pauline Elm borg the meeting was presided over by the deputy president and her staff and they Installed the new officers for the year. The following officers were installed: Edith Akeson, noble grand; Elva Aylor, secretary and Pearl Myers treasurer. The vice grand and chaplain will be Installed later. The Installing officers are members of the 6 lodges of the district of which Plattsmouth Lodge Bud of Promise Is a mem ber. The Installing officers were: Pauline Elmborg, deputy pre sident: Staff officers are Mrs. J. T. Tiller, Fred Leeder, Ernest Meing, Jessie Smith, Dorothy Stone, Margaret Wendt, Elva Aylor, Yvonne Boone, Mary Will Butcher, Fern Anderson. Escorts were Miss Helen Jen sen, Miss Charlotte Galagher, Mrs. Eleanor Marler, Mary Nel son, Lillian Miller, Florence Yarck and Ernest Hendrix. Elva Aylor, Mary Nelson and Eleanor Marler are members of our lodge. Thirteen quests besides the staff members were present from Omaha. Thelma Benson of Auburn was also present. After the meeting members adjourned to the dining room for refreshments. The tables were decorated with large snow men and the place cards were marshmellow snowmen. Also on each table were white money trees hung with dimes and a banner with the sign March of Dimes. Small containers cover ed with cotton to represent snow were placed on the table for a March of Dimes collection. $5.40 was donated. Joan . Moore and Virgie Fitchorn had charge of the dining room. Lunch was served by the com mittee Hallie Spry. Helen Hurst, Anna Eastridge, Sophia Wblever, Elva Aylor assisted by others. The following officers were elected: Chairman, Mrs. Fritz Kaffen berger; co-chairman, Mrs. Hen ry Kaffenberger; secretary, Mrs. Joe Stlbal; treasurer, Mrs. Fred Kaffenberger, Jr., and caller, Mrs. Ben Speck. At the conclusion of the busi ness session a game was enjoy ed. Mrs. Fritz Kaffenberger was the winner. Mrs. Fred Tschirren won the door prize. Fifteen members and seven guests enjoyed refreshments .ser ved by the hostesses. February hostesses will be Mrs. Bob Tschirren, Mrs. Fred Tschirren, Mrs. Chris Zimmer man, Jr. Johnson Family Has Enjoyable Trip West Mr. and Mrs. Clifford (Bud) Johnson and sons returned Jan. 3, from an eighteen day trip to the west. The first stop was at Mr. Johnson's sisters home, Mrs. Kenneth Sharp and family at Everett, Wash. They also stop ped at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Bud Means who live In Central la, Wash. From there they traveled south to San Francisco, where they saw the Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz Island. On to Los Angeles and later toured Hollywood, Disneyland, Long Beach. At Alhambra, Calif, they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Cuitis Earl and family. They spent Christmas Day at the home of Mr. Johnson's uncle, Floyd Johnson and family in Rose Mead. Calif. They traveled through Mexa cali and Nogales, Mexico. At Mesa, Arizona they stopped to visit with Mrs. Johnson's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Norman McGale and family. Enroute home they passed through New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Mrs. Robert V. Gunn, daugh ter of Mrs. Elizabeth R. Smith, new Treasurer of U. The couple has three children, Lowell of Plattsmouth, Mrs. Jay (Dorothy) Burch of Kansas City, Kans., and Mrs. Richard (Jessie) Herriott of Midville, Idaho. Also seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Snow Bird Birthday Croup at Emshoffs' AVOCA (Special) The Jan. Snow Bird Birthday Group met with Mrs. John Emshoff Sat urday noon for a covered dish dinner. Mrs. Ernest Emshoff was assistant hostess. These officers were elected: Mrs. Freddie Lutzemeir, presi dent; Mrs. Harry Jacobsen, vice president and Mrs. Ernest Ems hoff, secretary-treasurer. There were 12 present. They revealed their secret pals for the past year and drew names for the new ones. Games were played and there was a gift ex change. The 1961 hostesses will be Mrs. Harry Jacobsen and Mrs. Elmer Hallstrom. Present were Mrs. Fred Kirk hoff, Mrs. Harry Jacobsen, Mrs. Elmer Hallstrom, Mrs. Freddie Lutzemeir, Mrs. Robert Mc Donald, Mrs. Carr. Mrs. Howard Jacobsen, Mrs. Sophie Kepler, Mrs. Harry Kasten and the hos tesses. Navy Mothers Club Meets Navy Mothers Club met at Consumers Club room Friday afternoon. Meeting opened with presen tation of flags, opening prayer by the chaplain, Commander Mrs. Clara Essert presided. Letters from National Com mander, 1st Vice Commander and National Adjutant were read from Navy Mothers News, also questions and answers by Adjutant Edith Akesen. A number of cards of thanks were read from those receiving Christmas gifts. Club voted to give $12 to March of Dimes. Williams Kaffenberer-WMiams Rites At First Methodist Church Large white bows marked the pews, baskets of white and la vender chrysanthemums and pom poms appointed the altar of the First Methodist Church here Jan. 7 for the wedding of Miss Pamela Kaffenberger, and Mr. Ronald D. Williams. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kaffenberger and Mr. and Mrs. William Wil liams, all of Plattsmouth. The Reverend A. L. Embree, pastor of the church, officiated at the 7:30 wedding service in the presence of 200 guests. Eileen Porter, organist, ac companied Gary Williams of Omaha, cousin of the bride groom, the soloist. The bride, given In marriage by her father, chose a white chantilly lace floor length gown. The tight fitted bodice had long sleeves of hand-clipped chantil ly lace, sequin and pearl trim Four-Mile Club Meets at Bierls' Four Mile Club met Jan. 10 at Mrs. Joe Bierl's with 16 mem bers answering roll call. Members voted to pay annual dues of $1, meet all county goals of the year and add another goal, that of "Helping some needy family, not only at Christ mas time, but all year." The club had Its tisual family Christmas - party, ' with 1 each bringing a covered dish and a gift for exchange and having a visit from Santa. The lesson for the month, "Fabrics for Curtains," was given by Mrs. Sterling Ingwer son and Mrs. Charles Grosshans. The club visited and delivered food and clothing to a needy family at Christmas time. The hostess served lunch, as sisted by Mrs. Sterling Ingwer son and Mi's. Hugh Stander Sr. Martha Haase Is Shower Honoree At Pohlmeier Home Martha Haase was honored at a miscellaneous bridal shower Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Ron Pohlmeier assisted by Phyllis Haase and Marlene Sitz man. The hostesses are the brides maids and maid of honor for Miss Haase who will be married to Mr. Gene Baumgart on Feb ruary 4 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church here. A table decorated with a large white umbrella and flowers was arranged for the gift table. Guests attending were 17 school friends of the bride-to-be. Games were played and prizes were won by Sharon Haecke, Sandra Kaslon, Dorothy Faris and the door prize was won by Helen Clifford. Refreshments of cake, Ice cream, nuts and mints were served with favors made of blue umbrellas. Son Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Fry are parents of a 7 lb., 4 oz. son born January 12 at St. Mary's Hospital Nebraska City. He has been named Bret Lee. The cou ple has another child, Donna age V2. Grandparents are Mrs. Jessie Fry of Plattsmouth and Mrs. Genevieve Carman of Cres ton, Iowa. Son Mr. and Mrs. Joe Grauf are parents of an 8 lbs. 8 oz. son born Jan. 17 at Immanuel Hos pital in Omaha. He has been named Kurt Lloyd. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Grauf of Plattsmouth, Ma ternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Heeren of Phoenix, Ariz. This is the couplers first child. BIRTHS Q sabrina neckline. The skirt was tier upon tier of lace. Her fin gertip veil of illusion net fell from a pearl and rhlnestone crown. She wore pearl earrings and matching choker, and car ried a cascade of white carna tions and lily of the valley. Mrs. Shirley Simmons was matron of honor gowned in light lavendar chiffon with bouffant street length skirt and matching hat. She carried white and la vendar carnations. Mrs. Kay Liddick, sister of the bride, of Omaha, Sharlene Kah ler, niece of the bridegroom, also the bride's attendants. They were gowned identical to the matron of honor. Rickey Lee Kaffenberger, brother of the bride, was ring bearer. Karen Sue Tesarek, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Ray Williams, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ray mond Groves, Leonard Williams of Plattsmouth and Bill Nelson of Council Bluffs, la., ushered. The bride's mother wore a beige and white dress with dark brown accessories and white carnation corsage. The bride groom's mother chose a black nylon lace and black accessor ies and white carnation corsage. , A reception at Eagles Hall Immediately followed the cere mony. White wedding bells with vendar and white streamers were draped above the reception table. Mrs. Melvin Flint, sister of the bridegroom, poured cof fee. Judy Micheal of Omaha, cousin of the bridegroom, served punch. Sharon Williams of Oma ha, also cousin of the bride groom, cut the wedding cake. Miss DeeVonne Kaffenberger, sister of the bride, presided at the guest book; Mrs. Arthur Tesarek, sister of the bride groom, Mrs. Albert Williams, and Mrs. Walter Williams were at the gift table. Mrs. Orval Kahler, sister of the bride groom, and Miss Shirley Fitch were hostesses. The bride chose a lavendar lace with full gathered chiffon over taffeta frock for her wed ding trip. The newly weds attended Plattsmouth High School, are employed in Omaha. Circle Three Meets With Mrs. Egenberger Election of officers was held when Circle 3 of St. Paul's Evan gelical and Reformed met at the home of Mrs. L. W.. Egen berger Jan. 17. Mrs. Earl Marler was elected chairman; Mrs. Frank Bierl, vice president; Mrs. Verner Mei singer, secretary and Mrs. John E. Schutz treasurer. Twelve members attended the meeting and plans were made for the coming year with Mrs. Marler presiding. At the conclusion of the busi ness meeting Mrs. John Parken ing was awarded the door prize A game was played and the winner was Mrs. Verner Mei singer. Hostesses were Mrs. Egen berger and Miss Laura Meising er. Square Dance Club Met Friday The regular meeting of the Plattsmouth Square Dance Club was held Friday evening with a large group in attendance. Guests for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. E. Hoffmann, Les ter and Cleo McCann; Hank and Velra Probst of Syracuse; Elvo and Geneva Pratt of, Cook; Ray mond and Ruby Lancaster of Murray and Wilmer and Mariet ta Harshman of Nehawka. The host committee for the evening was Donald and Mered ith Grove and Wayne and Eunice Fass. Circle One of St. Paul's Guild Elects Officers Circle One of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church met at the home of Mrs. Fred Herre for its afternoon luncheon and meeting . Hostesses were Mrs. Herre, Miss Sophia Kraeger and Mrs. Elmer Haffke. There were 19 members and four visitors present. Mrs. P. A. Meisinger read the devotional. The business meet ing was taken over by the chair man. The following officers were elected: chairman, Mrs. Richard Wohlfarth; co-chairman, Mrs. Otto Pitz; secretary, Mrs. Clara Fornoff; treasure, Mrs. Enno Ahrens; telephone calls, Mrs. P. A. Meisinger, Mrs. Orval Muller and Mrs. Louis Naeve. It was decided to continue with Penny a Day and Pay Birthday money. Next meeting will be Feb. 12 at the home of Mrs. Fred Lug sch. Hostesses will be Mrs. Fred Lugsch, Mrs. P. A. Meisinger and Mrs. Anna Roberts. Mrs. Enno Ahrens won the door prize. A get-well card was signed by all and sent to Mrs. P. A. Hild who Is at the Clark son Hospital, Omaha. Marcia McQuin Honoree at Partv Marcia McQuin was honored Sunday on her 14th birthday which was Saturday. The hon oree and her guests were treat ed to a bowling party by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell 'McQuin. Later the party went to the McQuin home where the hon oree opened her gifts and re freshments of ice cream and cake were served. Attending were Mary Joan Smith, Pam Aspedon, Sherrill Jose, Susan Boldra, Clair Juli an. Joan Fairfield and Marica's sister, Mary McQuin. Elmwood WSWS At Fredenburgs' preview of the next three months was given at the WSWS meeting of the EUB Church held at the home of Mrs. Don Fredenburg, Jan. 12. Mrs. F. C. Ebinger and Mrs. Lester Rosenow led the group as they explored the topic, "In to All the World. What does it mean?" Assisting in the pre sentation were: Mrs. Lawrence Stubbendick, Mrs. Harlan Kunz, Mrs. RayVogt, Mrs. George Bornemeier, Mrs. Frank Shroe der and Mrs. Elda Lenz. The business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs Dale Flelschman. Fine reports were given by Mrs. Joe Kunz, Mrs. John Stolz, Miss Minnie Kunz, Mrs. Harold Wilkin, Mrs. La Moyne Spohn and Mrs. Ray Vogt; chairman of the various committees. Lunch was served by Mrs. Don Fredenburg with Mrs. Ed Rosenow assisting. Birthdays honored were those of Mrs. Joe Kunz and Mrs. Gussie Jochens. The ladies of the society were especially happy that Mrs. Bertha Oehlerking could be present. She is at present mak ing her home with the Herbert Oehlerkings. Eleven members answered roll call with "A Good Idea," there were three guests pres ent, Mrs. Lillian Edwards, and Mrs. John Weiland of Omaha, and Mrs. C. C. Cotner. During business meeting elec tion of officers was held, same officers being elected for an other year. Lesson was read by Mrs. Edith Akeson, "Care of Christ mas Plants," and "All American Roses for 1961," followed by round table discussion. A social hour followed games were played. Prizes won by Mrs. Earl Shanholtz, Mrs. Stella Cof felt, and Mrs. Lillian Edwards. Hostess served lunch. AUCTIONEERS MEETING Rex Young and Ed Morris and all board members and officers of the Nebraska State Auc tioneers Association were call ed to York, Nebr. Jan. 15 by Dale Hanna, the president, for an important meeting to try and legislate some bills about the auctioneer business. A legislative committee was appointed composing of Dean Fleming, Frank Diercks, Dwain Williams, Rex Young, Henry Rasmussen and Dan Fuller to meet with Senators in Lincoln in February. Going-away Party Friday evening neighbors and friends honored Mr. and Mrs. Frank Topliff at their farm home with a surprise going away party. Mr. and Mrs. Topjiff have lived and farmed in the Eight Mile Grove District for several years and are now mov ing to Plattsmouth. There were 36 present who presented the surprised couple with a clothes hamper. The evening was spent In vis iting and playing cards.
