Chip Dreamer had a wire re moved from his knee that has been there since last summer, as the result of a lawn mower accident. He was at the Bryan Memorial Hospital for the oper ation. Donald Skinner was In the hospital at Lincoln for a few days for treatment and observa tion. The Adult Sunday School Class had a coffee at the home of Betha Kosin, honoring Mrs. Maud Keller and Betha Kosln, Wednesday afternoon. Betha Kosln spends the winter with a nephew In Illinois and Mrs. Keller goes to California In the near future to spend the win ter with sons and their families. Mrs. Ruth Taylor spent the weekend in Alvo with her brother and family, the Walter Vincent's. Guests of Rev. and Mrs. Carl Spencer and children were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sanford and family of Brock, they attended Sunday School and Church In Alvo Sunday morning. Mary Batenhorst spent the weekend with La Von Howe at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Howe and fam ily. Miss Batenhorst rooms with La Von at Cedar Rapids, Nebr aska. ' Ray Rosenow. son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rosenow traveled to Chicago with the Marching Band from Wesleyan to play at the Football Game Sunday. The Kame and the Band were on TV, Sunday afternoon. Karen Howe appeared on TV, Tuesday evening as an em ployee of a Lincoln bank. Mrs. Ray Rosenow entertain ed a group of friends at her home at Lincoln, Sunday after noon, honoring Karen Howe with a personal Shower. The EUB Church at Elmwood honored Joyce Miller and Merle Backemeyer and Karen Howe and Jerry Backemeyer with a one- gift shower at the church, Friday evening in Elmwood. Mrs. George Bornemeier with the assistance of other ladies of the Chuuch gave the shower. Mr. and Mrs. Art Taylor were business visitors in Plattsmouth on Tuesday afternoon. Carol Nickels was a Thursday overnight guest of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Upton and family. Mrs. H. B. Ellis and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Mogensen were Fri day evening guests of Mr. and the two young couple were also honored guests. The Alvo Community wish to extend sympathy to the Ken dall Dimmltt , family - on the sudden death of Mrs. Dimmltt's mother, Mrs. Henry Boydston of Ashland. Charles McKinney and Mrs. McKinney's father and a couple of his friends from Ashland drove to Crawford, Nebraska last Thursday to go deer hunt ing. They were each successful in getting a deer. They return ed Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Leming of Louisville were at the Veterans hospital near Lincoln Sunday visiting with Mrs. Leming's father, Soren Peterson. On their way from the hospital they stopped in Alvo to visit Mr. Leming's mother, Mrs, A. L. Leming. Mrs. Vera Rogers of -Omaha was with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Rogers Sunday and stopped at the tele phone office to see Mrs. A. L. Leming awhile. Mr. and Mrs. La Vern Mick were with Mrs. Mick's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stewart, Sun day. The Micks live at Lincoln. Esther Lannine, Olive Westlake, Lucille Westlake and Ula Westlake of the O St Home maker's mrolect club, attended the Cass Co. project club Coun cil meeting at Weeping Water, Nebr. Monday afternoon. A bridal shower was given at the home of Mrs. Lester Bird, at Lincoln recently, honoring Miss Marilyn Bird of Lincoln, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bird, of Eagle. Miss Bird is em ployed at Lincoln. Her fiance, is Larry Walberg, who is a senior at the Uni. of Nebr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Walberg, of Eagle. Both are Eagle School graduates. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wall and family of Lincoln, visited his father, Mr. Jesse Wall, Sunday. On Monday morning, Mrs. George Thompson, of Palmyra, called at the home of her aunt Mrs. Mary Lanning. Mrs. Laurence Mogensen and family to help Mrs. Laurence Mogensen celebrate her birth day. . Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ludwick were evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Ludwick of Paplllion. Mr. and Mrs. Harlon Stock were evening euests of Mr. and Mr Leonard Harvey of Platts mouth. Mrs. Hy Kirchhoff attended a Dartv on Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Alvin Hillman of Otoe, honoring those who have birthdays in November. Mrs. Fredrick Behling was a new member. The party will be at Mrs. Kirchhoff's next year. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cooper were Tuesday supoer guests of Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Cooper and Garv of Omaha. Mrs. Fred Cherry visited for a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wann in Pueblo, Colorado. Mrs. Cherry's daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs.C. L. Pachek of Rockv Ford, Colorado came to the Wann home to visit with her. Mrs. Dale Meisinger spent two months in California with her husband while he is in the service at Ford Ord. Pvt. Dale Meisinger will be stationed in Germany for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Buck Jones and family were Monday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Copper. Pfc. The Crusader Class of the Christian Church is sponsoring a Bible Study the second Sun day of each month. Mr. and Mr. Lynn Rothe presented the devotions Sunday evening and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hyde were in charge of the study. Each month different couples will be in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kobler of Louisville and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Freeman of Avoca were Thursday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Freeman and family. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Burger are the proud parents of a daughter born Nov. 12. She weighed 11 pounds, 14 ounces and has been named D e b r a Lynn. The baby was born at the Syracuse Memorial hospital Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bortz of Belaire, Kansas and Mrs. Owen Burger Sr., of Tapeka, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Burger have a son Kevin. Mr. and Mrs. George McDan iels of Manhattan, Kansas were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shrader. Mrs. Mary Domingo and Mo gens Johnsons and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lowe and family of Un derwood, Iowa were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ogan of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Eiden miller and Rev. Fred Gardner of Fort Pierre, South Dakota were Thursday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lud wick and Georgia. Mrs. Mary Thorns entertained at two tahtes of pinochle on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Ross Kinton won the high score prize; Mrs. R. O. Baker, low and Mrs. Vern Harter, traveling. Mrs. E. E Moore, Mr and Mrs. Eldon Moore and Mrs. Ralph Ransford of Eagle attended graveside services at Oakwood Cemetery in Weeping Water on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for Karl Gerathewohl of Bea trice. Funeral services were held in Beatrice. Mr. Gerathewohl died suddenly of a heart at tack. His wife is the former, Ruth Moore, daughter of Mrs. E. E. Moore. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Philpot were Tuesday evening lunch guests of Mrs. Adam Cook. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Mather and Fonda were Saturday after noon guests of Charles and Wanda King of Sterling. Mrs. Henry Knaup, Mrs. Em ily Olive, Mrs. Grace Harter and Mrs. Gordon Wlllcoxen have called on Mrs. H. I. Rookstool the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Frye and family of Syracuse were Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stratton. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stratton and family of Beatrice were afternoon and supper guests at the Stratton home. ' Mrs. Herman Aronson and Eric were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Mather and family. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Cole and Mrs. Lulu Mae Cole of Lincoln visited with Mrs. George Ellis on Friday. Mary Ellen Roberts of Omaha spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Roberts. Mrs. W. P. Wright visited Mr. Wright at Rest Haven on Frl day afternoon and reports that he is getting along fine. He is able to walk aound the room and be up quite a good deal of the time. Mrs. Victor Wallick was a Friday dinner guest of Mrs. William Morris and family in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Wallick have moved into the apartment over the drug store for, the win ter months. Mrs. George Ellis will make her home with them this winter. Mr. and Mrs. John Ahrcns and family and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Shumaker of Auburn were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ahrens and family. Mrs. John Ahrens reports that her husband was quite sick the past week with a kidney stone.
