A. Behrends, whose resignation is effective on December 1st, 1960. Motion car ried. The Board signed a Contract with the Missouri Pacific Rail road Company whereby the agreement dated Oct. 1, 1959 was extended to March 31, 1961, covering right to enter onto the railroad's right of way at Mile Post 462-20, three miles west of Manley, Nebr., to excavate and grade ground slopes. Estil Jenkins Is Injured at Burbank, California Friday Report received here from Burbank, Calif., states that Estil Jenkins, former Plattsmouth policeman, was severely injured Friday while on duty as a police man at the California city. He was struck by a car driven by a 26-year-old lady and knocked down. The report states he suffered a fracture of the right leg and also suffered a ' brain concussion. He is hospital ized at Burbank at St. Joseph Hospital. 1 Obituary Anna S. Headley EAGLE (Special) --Cass Countv lost one of its early set- I tiers October 25th. when Mrs. Anna S. Headley passed away at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rud olph, following a short illness. Anna Umland Headley came to Cass County with her parents, Henry and Anna Umland, from ' Mascoutah, Illinois at the age of six years. The family settled on a farm about V2 miles west of Eagle, where the children grew up. When the Mo.-Pac. began to build a railway line through Eagle to Lincoln it passed throu gh the Umland farm. The loc omotive engineer noticed.a" young lady doing chores about', the place. He was a widower, a veteran -of the War Between the States. He often waved to the girls, and . in the course of time came to call more formally. In December;, 1888, Anna Umland and AmosB, Headley were married in Llh-v' coin, Nebraska. He was engineer.. of the' first train to enter Lin- coin, via Eagle. The young couple lived in Eag le for some time, but as a rail road man his work took him to many places. The family lived for a longer time at Cleburne, Texas; Oklahoma towns where they lived include Shawnee, Pauls Valley, Chattanooga. They returned to Eagle, where lived at Eagle, Lincoln, and Mr. Headley passed away in 1914. After that Mrs. Headley Seattle, Washington. The last 14 years she lived with her daugh ter and husband, the Joe Rudol- phs of Eagle. The Headleys had four child ren: Mrs. Rudolph of Eagle;' Mrs. Loran, Dewey Headley, and Mrs. Jones, all of Seattle, Washington. By an earlier mar riage Mr. Headley had a son, Charles, now living in Cherokee, Iowa. There are 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Headley became a mem ber of Immanuel Lutheran Chur ch, Eagle, in 1951. She last at tended in July, about the time of her 94th birthday. Funeral was at Immanuel Lutheran Church Oct. 28. Z Burial was in Eagle Cemetery beside her husband, buried there 1914. - A grand-niece, Susan Umland, -was organist. Pallbearers were Herbert Umland, Elmer Um land, Fred Schwegman, George Z Rockenbach, Claude Gerhard and Clyde Althous. Eagle's previous' Senior cit- izen, Mr. Wm. .'Norrls, passed aWay in 'June of 1958, just over 94 years of age. He also was a , member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
