Steven Massoth celebrated his seventh birthday Saturday when his mother entertained several of his little friends at a party. Mrs. John Gruber Sr. A group of descendants of the Weichel family held their annual picnic last Sunday at the Folks lure Picnic grounds on the Aus tin Finlay farm. The Weichel family owned the Finlay farm a number of years ago. The group was from Elmwood, Lincoln, Fairbury and several other small towns. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brown were Sunday callers at the Rich ard Brown home. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kroese and sons of Springfield and Richard .Meislnger were Thurs day supper guests at the Carl Meisinger home and helped Mr. Meislnger celebrate his birth-, day. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Finlay and Howard entertained at a family dinner Sunday at their home honoring Mr. and Mrs. Earl Howard of Long Beach, California. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Scholting and Mike and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Deloske and daughters all of Springfield and Mr. and Mrs. Austin Finlya and Howard and Larry Anderson surprised A. C. Hinkle Wednesday evening by fixing a complete chicken supper at his home in honor of his birthday. His daughter, Mrs. Deloske, baked a beautiful birth day cake. Mr. Hinkle received many nice and useful gifts. Larry Anderson entertained the group in the evening by playing several selections on his electric guitar. Fritz Schaefer of Creighton, who visited for several days at the Philip Hennings home, re turned to his home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nannen of Lincoln are parents of a dau ghter born Oct. 11 at St. Eliza beth Hospital, Lincoln. She has , been named Vicki Lynn and weighed seven pounds four ounc es. Mrs. Nannen is the former Bonnie Masters of Lincoln. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Masters of Syracuse, Mrs. Tom Davis of Colusa, California and Mr. Martin of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller and family of Omaha and Mrs. Glen Miller were Sunday afternoon callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Herman son left Monday for Dallas, Texas to attend the International Cement and Lime Workers Con vention. They will also visit Mrs. Hermanson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Heard in Nor wood, Missouri and tour the Ozarks. They expect to be gone about three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sawyer were Tuesday evening callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wildrick. Harry O'Hagan of Walnut Creek, California is visiting his sister Mrs. Rose Templemeyer. Where three judges serve on an elec tion board, statute requires that two of them be of the same political party a3 the person who received the largest num ber of votes for governor at the previous election. - The Journal said they must be of the party of the "governor in office." Gov. Dwight Burney is a Republican who took office after the death of Democrat Gov. Ralph Brooks. Rotary Club How did you happen to land in Plattsmouth? was a ques tion answered by Rotarians in a round-table program Tuesday noon. Each club member told the circumstances connected with his being 1 located in Platts mouth. Lyle Grove was program chairman. , Among guests were James Jennings, new elementary schools supervisor here, and two uncles of club member Dick Spangler, Frank Jean of Colo rado and Nelson Jean of Texas. The latter two are former Cass Countyans. Library News WEEPING WATER (Special) Mrs. Eugene Ludwick reports that there were 21 out-of-town visitors at the City Library dur ing the Congregational church centennial. Rev. and Mrs. John Pryor of Lincoln presented the Library with a framed picture of the Library taken many years ago. The Library has avery good assortment of magazines which arrives regularly and may be checked out for reading. Tractor Damaged Monday afternoon shortly after the , noon hour the fire department was called to the acreage of L. A. Dasher on High way No. 75 west of the city. It was found that a break in the gas line of a tractor being used by Mr. Dasher, had caught fire. Grell were Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Grell and son of Gretna. Lauris Hendrix received word Sunday evening that his brother, Vernon Hendrix of Memphis, Tennessee, had suffered a' heart attack but was slowly improv ing. Mrs. Ruth Taylor was in Alvo over the weekend with her bro ther and family, the Walter Vin cent's. She is employed at the Masonic Home at Plattsmouth. ; Mamie Stewart Paul and her friend left Monday afternoon for California. She purchased a trailor and took some of her things with her that has been stored with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Leming and. family and Aaron Howe drove to Neligh, Nebraska Sun day to spend the day with Mrs. Leming's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Reed.' . Mrs. A. L. Leming attended Church at the Congregational Church at Ashland, Sunday and had dinner with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Leming and then went to the Bryan Memorial hospital in the afternoon to see Curly Doran and take him a TV set. He was injured in a car-pick up accident north east of Alvo, this week. Mrs. A. B. Stroemer with Mrs. Archie Miller assisting entertained the Eastern Star Kensington, Wednesday after noon, at the Stroemer home. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rosenow and Mr. Rosenow's sister, Mrs. Esther Clark attended the Wes-le'yan-Wayne Homecoming foot ball game Friday evening in Lin coln.
