OF WHEAT OROP IN NFBRASKA $1 to 6 Uiii.oi Cass County $1.7 Million LINCOLN The average value nf the Nebraska wheat crop in the? five years, 1954-58, was more than $105 per capita annually, making wheat vitally important to the economic well-being of the state, the Nebraska Wheat Commission said this week. The figures were announced this week by Robert Florell. Chief of the Commission. Florell said the value of the annual wheat crop was $153,394,000. He said the per capita value was figured on the basis of a Ne braska population of 1,450,000. The 1954-58 figures were the latest complete five-year figures available. Cass County's 1954-58 average annually was $1,723,010 in wheat. Florell said that 15 Nebraska counties raised more than $3. 000.000 worth of wheat each year, and 49 of the state's 93 counties raised more than a million dol lars worth of wheat annually. ' Cheyenne county led the state in per county wheat value, with pn annual average of $10,670. 663. Perkins county was second with $7,740,748; Box Butte coun Mrs. Leonard Jewell. Wheat Crop Annually ty third with $5,494,634; Kimball county was fourth with $5,435, 706; Deuel county fifth with $4, 471,760; Keith county sixth with $4,022,270. Adams, Lancaster, Banner, Chase, and Gage counties all averaged more than $3,700,000 annually, the report showed. "This report points up the fact that while wheat is a major crop in several western Nebraska counties, it is also a very signi ficant crop economically for many southcentral and eastern Nebraska counties," Florell said. "All Nebraskans can be proud of the great wheat growing indus try that has been developed in our state. Wheat is one of our great resources. This report re emphasizes the vital importance of keeping our wheat growing economy healthy." Zoning Ordinance Passed at Louisville LOUISVILLE (Special) A crowd of about 75 persons at tended the Zoning commission hearing at the Village Hall Tuesday evening. The village attorney read and explained a proposed zoning ordinance. Several citizens had attorneys representing them. The main concern of most of them was that they did not fully under stand just what the ordianance would do. After it was explained everyone seemed satisfied. The ordinance was approved and passed by the Village Board. Near Drowning at Louisville Lakes LOUISVILLE (Special) There was a near drowning at the Louisville Lakes Monday after noon. The girls, twin sisters, Mrs. Janice Reno and Joyce Campbell, 18, of Omaha were wading when they stepped into a hole. They were rescued by an unidentified man from Omaha. They were given first aid and medical treatment and were rushed by Fusselman am bulance to an Omaha hospital j here they were later reported I to be alright. Obituary Mrs. Grace Pugsley Mrs. Grace Pugsley was born at Plattsmouth, Neb., Feb. 3, 1877 and pa6sed away at St. An thony's Hospital in Oklahoma City Aug. 20, 1960. Mrs. Pugsley lived in Bayard and Scottsblufft Neb., for sev eral years where her husband was a practicing physician. Since coming to Oklahoma City, she has made her home with her sister, Mrs. J. L. Stamps at 1630 N. W. 19th St. Her husband, Dr. George Pugsley and her son. Dr. George Pugsley Jr., preceded her in death several years ago. She was a member of the Epsworth Methodist church in Oklahoma City and also of the order of P. E.O. in Scottsbluff, Neb. Mrs. Pugsley leaves her sister, Mrs. J. L. Stamp of the home, two grandsons, George Pugsley III, and Dennis Ray Pugsely, both of the armed forces, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Pugsley of Scottsbluff Neb., a niece, Mrs. Marion Fleck of Fargo, N. D., reared by Dr. and Mrs. Pugsley from birth, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Chas. E. Tay lor of Enid and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral for Mrs. Pugsley was conducted at the Smith iCerneke Funreal Home of Okla homa City, Monday .with burial at Bayard, Neb., by the side of her husband and son.
