Monday, the children, scrub bed and polished, wearing new clothes and broad grins seem ed terribly pleased to be back among their friends and class mates. Even the youngest group, the new. kindergarten class (among them son Dan) appeared to be enjoying the brand new exper ience, though understandably a little nervous. The grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marler, Larry, Di anna and Donna Gilsdorf, who spent the summer vacation at th Marler home, left for a trip to Dakota with their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gils dorf of Lincoln who came for the children Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lan caster were expected home sometime this week, probably Wednesday, after a three-week vacation on the West Coast. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Nottley were Mrs. Mary Scull apd son, Dale Da vis. Mr. Davis just returned from England where he had been on duty with the Air Fore for' some time. Young folks who attended the recent three-day 4-H camp at South Bend were David Morris, Roger Howard, BUI Spangler, Bill and Tom Schlichtemeier, Ralph Richter, Chris Spangler and Cathy Rice. Also attending, as counsellor, was Mrs. Virgin ia Spangler. Mr. and Mrs. Fay Jose have been in Canada for two weeks vacation with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Jose left Canada 10 years ago to make their home in Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howard of Los Angeles, Calif , are spend ing their vacation with Mr. How ard's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Howard. Letters of congratulations are still being received by United Presbyterian Church here. The church recently celebrated its 100th birthday. Crede Harris, who will be 95 next month, is believed to have been the old est person at the Centennial celebration. Dr. John Gllmore and daugh ter Jo Ann of Santa Monica. Calif., are visiting friends in Murray and . the Murray area. Mrs1. Ed Howard, Roger and Linda recently visited Mrs. How ard's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lee of Dwigiit. Kan. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marler Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lloyd of Avoca. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Worthan were in Avoca on business on Monday morning. Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Worthan were Mr. and Mrs. Gomer Worthan and daughters and Mr. and Mrs- Dick Ehlers and children. Mike Hobscheidt called Sat urday and then went on to Sid ney to the rodeo. Mrs. Bert Worthan, Richard and Allen stopped in for a short visit Sunday. Mr. and Mrs- Charles Span gler, Bill, Debbie and Henry were dinner guests of Mrs. Wil liam Halmes recently. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Puis and family of Little Rock, Ark, have been' visiting in the Char les Martin home this week. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Puis and family, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Puis, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Puis and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Puis and family were at the Martin home Thursday night for a pic nic supper. Saturday guests of the Charl es Martins were Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Marler and three grandchildren, also Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dill. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cud aback of McCool Junction were guests Friday through Sunday at the Earl Lancaster home. Mrs. Woodrow Roth of Engle wood, Calif., the Cudabacks' daughter, was also here, return ing home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bickett are in Des Moines for a week's vacation. Vant of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Evan Armstrong were Monday eve ning visitors of Orville Sandy and on Saturday evening Mr. Sandy was a supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nelson at Ashland. Grace Circle met Tuesday at the Methodist Church. Mrs. Jake Hammer gave the lesson. Lunch was served by the hos tesses, Mrs. Woodrow Fulmer, Mrs. Ruth Leadabrand and Mrs. Wm. Greene. A miscellaneous bridal show er was held t the Methodist Church Friday evening honor ing Miss Janet Thomsen who is a former resident of Green wood. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Welch and boys spent Saturday and Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Welch and boys at Concordia, Kan. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Carpenter, Carolyn and Marilyn spent Wed nesday fishing and swimming at Linoma Beach. Grady returned home from the hospital Sunday. He had surgery on an eye. A. W. Velder returned to work after a month's absence alter surgery. Frank Hohenshell had surgery at Bryan Hospital Wednesday. He is getting along fine and ex pected to be home sometime this week. Diane and Sharon Gustafson are staying with their grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Gustafson since their father, Harve Schroeder's car accident in Lincoln the past week. Gustafson and family left for their home at Niceville, Fla., after spend ing nine weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Gustafson. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wright were Saturday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Wright in Lincoln. The supper was in honor of Mrs. Louis Wright's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright called at the Louis Wright home Monday. Their son, Danny, re mained with his grandparents 'while his parents went on to Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Howard and family returned home from i 10-day vacation in Colorado Tuesday. Boy Scout Troop 34 were on an overnight camp-out at Aus tin Finlays farm at Louisville. Mrs. Wayne Howard and chil dren stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Finlay while Wayne camped.
