Sand gave a report on "Prep aration and Care of the Soil for Bulbs" Wednesday evening to members of the Nehawka Flower Club. He also told mem bers how to prepare and care for bulbs for indoor planting In the fall for winter blooms. The PEACHES $2.00 Bu. Roll call was "Name a Flower or Plant Used for Med icine." A report was given on the flower show held in June and members were asked to make a suggestion on ways to improve the club's annual flow er shows. The members have been weed ing the flower beds at the school and also in parking along the streets. Floyd Joerger assists with this work. Mrs. Harry Knabe is a new member. Lori Warlick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Warlick, was two years old Friday. Girls Stater Gives Report at Nehawka NEHAWKA (Special) Bar bara Behrns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Behrns, gave a report of Girls State to members of the American Legion Auxili ary Tuesday afternoon. The meeting was hold at the auditor- i mm. Sandra Stapert and Ann Nutzmnn played accordion and piano solos. Fornoff Held Saturday George W. Fornoff Saturday afternoon at 2 clock funeral services were held at the chapel of the Sattlcr fun eral home for George W. Forn off, long time resident of Cass county, who died Thursday fol lowing a long illness. Rev. G. E. Seybold, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical and Re formed church, officiated at the service. Mrs. Arnold Meisingcr was organist. Interment was at Oak Hill cemetery with Victor Meising cr, Edgar Meisingcr, Verner Meisinger, Otto Meisingcr, Frank Bierl, Walter Fornoff, serving as casket bearers. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Meisinger and Mrs. Edgar Meisinger serving as floral bearers. 4-H News From Nehawka NEHAWKA (Special) A demonstration on "French Seams" by Mary Lindsey and a demonstration on "My Sewing Box" by Burnice Garrett were the highlights of the Modern Miss Clothing Club meeting. It was held at the home of Thel ma Ketelhut and Mary Lind sey July 8. The vice president, Lois Whit tington, called the meeting to order. Cheryl Pollard led the 4-H pledge and Sandra Turner led the flag salute. Eight members answered to roll call answering-: What I'm Making This Summer. Margie Miller gave the de votions, "My 4-H Club." She was assisted by Cheryl Pollard, Sandra Turner, Lois Wessel, Ha zel Miller, Thelma Ketelhut, Georgia Johnson, Jackie Dod son, Lois Whittington and Mary Lindsey. Mrs. Lindsey gave some "helps" on sewing and style revue for the County Fair. Mary and Thelma served refresh ments. Next meeting is July 18 at the church. Sandra Sta pert, reporter. Nehawka Babysitters -NEHAWKA (Special) The Nehawka Babysitters met with Joyce Fornoff July 13. In the absence of the president and vice president, Joyce Fornoff, news reporter, conducted the meeting. Georgia Johnson gave Glenwood Seems Successful in Keeping H-Way 34 Glenwood, Iowa, our neigh boring city, seems to have suc cessfully won their battle to re tain highway 34 that now runs through that city and on to the Missouri river bridge and into Nebraska at this point. While not settled, it seems that the Iowa hiehwav com mission has checked their first plan, that was to move the highway some distance from the Mills county seat. The highway commission at Ames voted unanimously in tavor of a motion by Commis sioner Harold Teachout of Shenandoah for a different route than that announced pre viously, that would have moved the highway five miles south of Glenwood. Representatives of the com mission however stated that construction will start in 1963 64 on the proposed route so that 34 will be where it is now lo cated for some time. a report on "Ways to Interest Children."
