To Control Ants, Find Their Nests LINCOLN The secret to controlling ants in the home is to locate nesting areas and treat them with chlordane. Several kinds of ants may in vade homes, states Robert E. Roselle, Extension entomologist at the College of Agriculture. Most of the ants enter the home from a nesting site in the soil. However, a few kinds cu? nest in decaying wood or between walls of homes. Nesting areas may be sprayed with chlordane which is avail able as a 2 per cent household spray or as a 4 per cent liquid concentrate which is mixed at the rate of 1 tablespoon to 1 gallon of water. The 2 per cent solution may be used for application in in fested areas or runways inside the home. The liquid concen trate may be used in water to treat ant hills or other infested areas in the lawn or garden and around the foundation of homes. The 2 per cent solution should not be used on living plants as it will kill them. A dedication in a scientific book reads in part. "To my wife, without absence this book could not have been written."
