Union Woman's Club Observes Guest Week UNION (Special) The Un ion Woman's Club observed Music Week and Guest Day May 4 at the Methodist Church with Mrs L. D. Mougey as lead er of the meeting. Roll call was answered by! each member Introducing the. Bursts she had brought. Mrs. Mougey then introduced Mr. Regler, suuerlntendent of the School for the Blind, and Mr Grim, teacher of Nebraska City with 12 of the boys and girls of the school. These young musicians were from the 1st- to 5th grades and were from Omaha, Weeping Wa ter, Wisner, Lincoln, Fremont, Of-allala and Nebraska Cvty. They were talented and pre sented a program of songs, pi ano numbers, accordion solos and cowboy songs. Later in the afternoon, Mrs. John Foster, district vice pres ident, installed the new officers who are: president, Mrs. George Stine; vire president, Mrs. Frank Hobseheidl; secretary, Mrs. Clarvnre Beccard, and the treasurer, Mrs. Gene Herman. Refreshments were served by Mrs. George Rieke, Mrs. Ri chard Mousey. Miss Iva Mougey, Mrs. Katherine Harrah, Mrs. Herman Comer and Mrs. Le Faris. The serving table was center ed with a floral piece of yellow snapdragons and white daisies, colors of the Woman's Club. Mrs. Rieke and Mrs. Stine poured. . lU-auty Course Grad Janet Spangler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Spangler, has completed her training at the Neraska Beauty School and has received her license to prac tice. ' ,4 " ' '" V Mrs. Charles Barbara Barta Weds Mr. Nickel In Saturday Ceremony, Manley In a Saturday morning cere mony, Miss Barbara Barta, daughter of Mrs. James Barta of Elmwood, became the bride of Charles LaVern Nickel at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Manley. Parents of the bride groom are Mr. and Mrs. La Vein Nickel of Murdock. Chantilly lace and tulle fash ioned the gown in which the bride appeared. The fitted bod ice was enhanced by long siev es that tapered to bridal points at the wrists and a Sabrina neckline daintily edged in spark ling iridescents and tiny seed pearls. A white orchid with white roses on a white prayer book was the bridal bouquet. Her attendants were gowned in alike pink, frocks fashioned of silk organza and lace. A satin banding outlined the demure scoop neckline of the fitted lace bodice and was repeated on the diminutiru sleeves. The bouf fant skirt of organza fell grace fully to street length and was topped by a satin band , ending in a tailored waist bow. Matching nylon tulle crowns with a wisp of an illusion com pleted their ensembles Maid of honor was Miss Patri cia Slattery of Omaha, and bridesmaid was Miss Patricia Neuhuas of Shickley. William A. Zoz of Murdock was best man and Norman Brochoff of Elmwood was groomsman. Ushers were Mar vin Schuleder of Ord, Frank Zoz and Lowell Dame of Lin coln and Frank Schultze of Un adilla. The couple will live on a farm near Elmwood. Mother-Daughter Banquet Held at Union Church UNION (Special) May 6, a total of 114 mothers, daugh ters and granddaughters gath ered at the Methodist Church for the Mothers-Daughters Ban quet. They were seated at three long tables and several card tables which had blue and white decorations. Large white spark ling hearts centered each table with blue tapers, small hearts and golden arrows and love birds. The program books also had the theme "Hearts in Tune." The three-course banquet was served by the men of the con gregation who also washed all the dishes. The program following the banquet was as follows; mis tress of ceremonies, Mrs. Russ ell Easter; Into My Heart, Mrs. Martin Nelson; A Hearty Wel come, Mary Easter; Heart Rend ing Tunes, Nettie Mougey lead ing group singing; Heart Felt Reply, Mrs. Keith Hostetter; Hearts Ease, a solo, by Lynn Paasch; Hearts in Tune, Mrs. Arthur Embree; All My Heart, a skit by Linda Morton, Irene and Iola Rich, Ellen Stine and Ellen Paasch; Gay Hearts, a solo by Mrs. Jim Attebery; Heart Strings, Mrs. Russell Eas ter and Grateful Hearts, a ben ediction by Mrs. Carl Cross. Organists were Mrs. Richard Schanot, Mrs. Mervin Behrens and Lynn Paasch. Awards and corsages were presented as follows: for many years of faithful service in the Woman's Society, Mrs. Wayne Ackley to the grandmothers who had the largest number of grandchildren at the banquet, Mrs. Kathryn Harrah and Mrs. Groves; oldest mother, Mrs. Eva Becker; youngest mother, Mrs. Tom Pike; member of the church longest, Mrs. L. G. Todd, 56 yearss and a baby member ship pin was presented to Sony Gail, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. . Kl if.---'-- Golden Years for Mr. and Mrs John Swartzfisher mi 50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY was celebrated by .Mr. and Mrs. John Swartzfisher of Chickasha, Okla., former Cass Coun tians. The couple born and raised here moved to Oklahoma many years ago. Mrs. Swartzfisher is the former Clara Braw. They are still active in farm life. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hennings accom panied by .Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hild of this city, cousins of the honored couple, were at Chicasha from Friday to Monday attend ing the celebration. Holy Trinity AVOCA (Special) Holy Trinity guild met with Mrs. Merle Meyer near Nehawka Monday; 16 were present, Fr. Elmer McFadden spoke on Parent Education which is a new diocesan project. Mrs. Ralph Meyer was named chairman ot this parish and re elected were; Mrs. Ralph Meyer, president; Mrs. Merle Meyer, vice president; and Mrs. Oscar Zimmerer, treasurer; secretary, Mrs. Otto Straub Jr. An audit ing committee of Mrs. Allen Burr and Mrs. Pat Kriefel was appointed. The summer bible school will be two weeks starting May 30 at Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Leon ard Schrieter became new members of the parish and Mrs. Schrieter became a member of the Guild.
