EDITORIALS Tornado Season Arrives Every year, about this time, sporadic tornados .sweep through various sections of the United States, killing hundreds of people and devastating property. The bifincing tornado, with its ro tary motion, is the most destructive force known to mankind. Fortunately, in many instances, its approach is announced by the peculiar funnel-shaped cloud, which when detected, gives those in its path an opportunity to escape. Apparently tornadoes develop their power in somewhat open country, but they often develop terrific force and wreak their havoc in comparatively thickly-settled areas. In time perhaps men will become smart enough to understand and predict the appearance and course of a tornado, but, unfortunately, that time is not yet. vv.
