Petersen returned home Sunday after en Joying a vacation trip at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Krueger at Tuscon, Arizona and visiting friends in San Antonio, Texas. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Long and family at Alva, Oklahoma. Ruth Ann Patton is staying for a time with Mrs. Arvin Pat ton and children while Mr. Pat ton is working in Iowa. Henry Knaup and Mr. nnd Mrs. David Baxter were Friday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Horn and Johnnie. Dorothy Potts Jack Miller, Jim and Sharon Stock visited Mrs. Robert Miller and their new niece, Cheryl Marie, on Monday evening at the Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln. While there they also visited with Mrs. Edgar Burgen. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harshman were afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Layal Fleming. Arthur Thomsen, superintend ent of the Weeping Water school, has been selected as one of the delegates from Nebraska to attend a National Educators Association Convention. It will be held in Los Angeles, Califor nia from June 26 to July 1. Mrs. Thomsen and their three child ren will accompany him on the trip. Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Lorensen of Humboldt and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Lorensen visited Lewis Lorensen at the St. Mary's hos pital in Nebraska City and found that he is a little better but still confined to bed. The Junior Class entertained at a Maverick Hoe Down cn Friday evening in the school audiorium. The high school students and the faculty were guests. The brain surgery that was performed on Mrs. Edgar Bur gen on Friday morning seems to have been successful. She has been a patient at the Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln for eleven weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gard ner and family of Lincoln brought Mrs. Carl Tapper and Billie Karen of Santa Barbara, California to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Slein kamp on Saturday. She will visit with relatives in this vicinity for ten days. The Gardners were dinner guests. Mr. and Mrs. John Hopkins were Sunday dinner guests with Mr, and Mrs. Stein kamp and Mrs. Tapper and Bil lie. Billie Karen Tapper spent Sat urday night and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Dale Steinkamp and family of Louisville. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Steinkamp and Mrs. Carl Tapper went after her on Sun day afternoon. The Volleyball tournaments were held on Monday night in the school gym. Elmwood and Eagle played and Elmwood was the winner; Alvo and Murdock played and Murdock was the winner. Due to the snow and bad roads the tournaments will be held at a later date. School was dismissed on Monday noon due to the snowstorm. Mrs. Victor Plunkett spent from Monday until Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Fulton and boys of Ames, Iowa and helped with the new baby, Phillip. Richard Nickels and Carol Nickels were Sunday evening lunch guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Upton and family. The Plymouth Guild met on Friday morning at the home of Mrs. Richard Harmon. Joan Domingo spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meisinger and family. She help ed Mania celebrate her ninth birthday on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Livingston and Mr. and Mrs. S. 11. Harmon were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup and Rodney Knaup. A representative of the Gide ons spoke briefly on Sunday morning during the worship hour at the Christian church. The work of the Gideons in dis tributing Bibles is apparant to all who have even picked up a Bible in a hotel, motel, hospital or prison and have seen in scribed on the Bible the name of the Gideons. An offering was taken for this worthy work. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Ham mons and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hyde and boys of Louisville were guests for a fish fry Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Schroe der and family of Louisville. Marcia Meisinger and Gayle Rector passed out treats on Fri day to the pupils of the third grade and the teacher, Mrs. Wil liam Davis, in observance of their ninth birthday.
