Devotions were read by Mrs. Ralph Hild. Mrs. Albert Graham presented the lesson, Lutherans In Liberia. It covered the period from 1800, when the Lutherans beRan their missionary work in Liberia, up until the present time. The February meeting will be held in the church parlors with Mrs. Ralph Parkening as hostess. Bridal Shower For Miss McConaha- A personal bridal shower was given Monday in honor of Miss Nancy McConaha at the home of Miss Judy Meisinger with Miss Janis Flelschman as co hostess. The sixteen guests were en tertained with games. The guest of honor, Dixie Wurlete and Mrs. Dean Biles were winners in the games played. Refreshments were served. Ruback Presides At Womens Civic Club Meeting Dr. Ryan Speaks To Central PTA Central P-TA members met Jan. 4 in the cafeteria for their regular monthly meeting, presi dent Les Hutchinson presiding. The boys quartet of the Platts mouth High School sang a selec tion enjoyed by those present. Tom Smith, Albert Wetenkamp, Larry Toothaker and Tim Fisch er are quartet members. They were accompanied at the piano by Eileen Porter. This was followed by a chalk talk and slides by Dr. W. V. Ryan on "care of the teeth." During the business meeting that followed reports were heard from committe chairman. The clothing bank reported fur ther funds were needed for clothing unobtainable through solicitation. A plea was made for more clothing and money, and also help with the repairing of the items. . ' A thank you note was read from Central Teachers in recog nition of the Christmas Trees for the school enjoyed during the holidays. The second grade won the at tendance banner. .... ' A silent auction was held af ter the meeting. Proceeds to go toward a PTA project. Teachers of the school served cookies and coffee from a decor ated table depicting the New Year. mm Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Donald Martin of Princeton, 111., are parents of a daughter Ann Katherine, born Jan. 11, and is the couple's first child. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Martin. Great grandparents are Mrs. Charles Martin and S. S. Chase, former Plattsmouth residents. The new father is a former Plattsmouth school boy, and is now a lawyer at Princeton. Son Mr. and Mrs. James Zoz of Lincoln are the parents of a son, bom Jan. 8. He weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces. Mate r n a 1 grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Holpine, of Lincoln. Pat ernal granparents are Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zoz of Alvo. He has been named John James. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Falk of Omaha have a baby girl born at the Methodist Hospital Jan. 13, weighing 7 lbs. 5 oz. She has been named Nancy. Mr. Falk, a former Plattsmouth resident, is the brother of Mrs. Les Hut chinson of this citv. The Plattsmouth Women's Civ ic Club members held their re gular meeting Monday evening at Consumers meeting room. Mrs. Howard Ruback, president, presided and welcomed the members and guests. Devotions were given by Mrs Warren Lillie, who also read a poem "G o d ' 8 P o e m" or "Friends." Corresponding secretary Mrs. Bill Knorr read letters from the Child Saving. Institute, thank ing the members for the cash gift at Christmas. Mrs. Knorr also read a letter from the sup erintendent of the School for the Blind at Nebraska City, thank ing members for the gifts of canay and the check to pur chase games for the students at the holidays. Miss Naomi Day and Mrs Don Warga were appointed to plan some activity for the blind students at a later date. Maxine Cloidt is to take care of the club's gift to the public library. Mrs. Clark Finney will have the program, "Art," at the Feb ruary meeting. Mrs. Wiley G. Brooks will be guest speaker. Mrs. Don Warga and Naomi Day gave a report of their vis itation to the School for the Blind, Nebraska City. They de livered the candy made by club members. The students were practicing for their Christmas program. "The American Idea" home furnishing program, presented by the Celanese Corporation of America was presented. Mrs. Boyd LInder showed color slid es with commentary by Mrs. Raymond Bourne. The slides showed 48 room settings, also a visit to the Celanese House, fea turing hanging gardens, land scaped terraces and enclosed patios. The dress length given as a Mrs. Urish Visits On West Coast Mrs. Lorine Urish returned home Saturday morning after a months vacation on the west coast. ....... At San Leandro, Calif, she was a guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Urish and dau ghters Mary aiifi Jane. Mr. Urish is a sou of the yisitorTJue fam.7 ily is fine and isent greetings to all their Plattsmouth friends. Mrs. Urish also visited in San Francisco and at Oakland. Also with Mr. and Mrs. Eddie For rest at Hayward, Calif., former Plattsmouth residents. She reports a fine trip and the weather was beautiful mak ing an enjoyable stay away from home. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Weiss of Ottertail, Minn., were here vis iting over the holidays with her mother, Mrs. Janet Simons and other relatives. Mrs. Simons has retired from the BREX Rail road shops after 17 years of service. door prize was won by Mrs. James McMilllan. Club members will have a bridge party Jan. 25 at Consum ers. Refreshments were served by the hostesses from a beautiful decorated table. A large snow man and pine boughs served as a centerpiece. Hostesses were Miss Maxine Cloidt, Mrs. Raymond Bourne, Mrs. Warren Lillie and Mrs. Tom Solomon. Regular Meeting Of Navy Mothers Navy Mothers Club met at Consumers Club Rooms Friday afternoon. Mrs. Clara Essert, commander, presided at the meeting, opening with the flag salute, prayer by the chaplain, Mrs. Mary Hennings, and the preamble. National - Commander's and Convention News from Navy Mothers News was read by Ad jutant, Mrs. Edith Akeson. Thank you notes were read from Mrs. Chovanec and from men receiving Christmas gifts from the Club. It was voted to send $100 to National Welfare to be returned and used for our local welfare. Mary Worsham reported on the trip to the Veterans Hos pital Dec. 8 for the games party. Ida Cotner read "Americanism By Choice." Mrs. LeRoy Covert was hostess and served lunch. CALENDAR Friday, Jan. East Of Plattsmouth State Bank Junior Auxiliary Elects Officers The American Legion Auxlli ary members met Friday eve ning at the Gas Office with hostess Sharon Schalk, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Russell Schalk. Highlight of the meeting was the election of officers. Those elected to serve were: President, Judy Baumgart; vice president, Suzanne Solomon; secretary, Judy Rhoden; treasurer, Can dice Carper; flag bearer, Bar bara Loper; historian, Mary Ann Dingman and chaplain, Bobble Raines. Members voted to have a val entine exchange at their Feb ruary 12th meeting. Fourteen attended the meet ing including Mrs. Ted Ohnout ka and Mrs. Robert McClana han, leaders. Lunch was served by the hostess. New Residents At Masonic Home Mr. and Mrs. John M. McLean, 1112 South 31st Street, Omaha are entering the Nebraska Ma sonic Home here today for res idence. The couple has many Platts mouth friends as they have been active members of the Episcop al Church, Plattsmouth Lodge No. 6 AF & AM, also Home Chapter 189 Order of Eastern Star. He is a past master of No. 6 AF & AM. Mr. McLean in years past was owner of a shoe store on South Sixth Street of this city, and later was a shoe salesman in Omaha, now retired. It is interesting to note Mr. and Mrs. McLean were born in England and both were natur alized at the District Court here in 1920. Four Mile Club At Stander Home Four-Mile Extension Club met Jan. 8 at the home of Mrs. Hugh Stander, Sr. with 15 members attending. Mrs. Joe Bierl and Mrs. Sterling Ingwerson were assistant hostesses. Mrs. Leonard Born and Mrs. Everett Parrlott presented the lesson "Put it in it its place." Refreshments were served.
