Otto Harms of Nlles, Mich., left Wednesday to visit relativ es In Los Angeles, Calif. He spent the Christmas holidays with Mrs. Anna Harms. Mrs. Jim Anderson entertain ed about 15 children Sunday to honor the birthdays of her dau ghters, Sherl and Debbie. Miss Wright told of her work at American Univer sity, Washington, D. C, where she is studying government first hand on a scholarship and Miss Yasuda told of her native land, Hawaii. Both girls attend Wesleyan University, The members were allowed to ask questions and en joyed the talks. Mrs. Stiffler gave the financial report up un til the end of December. At the next meeting, Jan. 14, Mrs. Mary Amelang will begin the next series of study lessons dealing with the Christian Mis sion in Africa. Hostesses will be Mrs. Alverta Ahl and Mrs. Patti Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ward of Central Point, Oregon and Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Ingram were Sat urday evening supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Harms and Sharon of Plattsmouth were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Terryberry. In the afternoon they were all callers at the Lawrence Smith, Jr., home in Murdock. Mr. Ted Brunson and sons, Forrest and Teddy of Mankato, Minn., spent from Wednesday until Friday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Forest Brunson. They flew here by plane and re turned home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Glen (Dick) Ward came down from Lyons, Nebr., Friday and spent until Monday visiting relatives. They went from here to Lincoln to visit for a few days and then in the western part of the state before returning to their home in Central Point, Ore. Sunday visitors at the Rich ard Payne home were Mr. and Mrs. McCalaham in Milford. They brought Margaret Payne home. She had been visiting there this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Keckler and family left Saturday for their home in Gardner, North Dakota, after spending the past two weeks with his mother, Mrs. Tressa Keckler and other rela tives and friends here. Bill phoned his mother when they got home and said they saw stalled cars and slow traffic on the way home. Mr. and Mrs. James Whaley and family of Emporia, Kansas spent the New Years weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Whaley in Louisville, Nebr. They returned to Emporia, Kan sas by the way of Omaha on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Ragoss and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Heim were among the guests at a din ner party held Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Stones near Murray. Mrs. Tressa Keckler and her house guests, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Keckler and children were din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Har old Keckler and family in Ash land Sunday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Vaughn and children were shopping in Omaha last Thursday and also called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Vaughn and son and Mrs. James Vaughn. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Doer mann were among those helping Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Thompson of Talmage celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, Sunday They remained as overnight 1 guests and on Monday attended to some business in Humboldt and also called at the Stanley i Oestmann home in Sabetha , Kansas before returning home. Capt. and Mrs. Meisinger will make their home in Ala bama while he is stationed there. Mrs. Lawrence Erhart entered the Syracuse Community hos pital Friday and underwent surgery on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stander and family of Weeping Water, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Stander, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stander and Dick spent New Years Eve with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stander and family in Omaha. Richard Streeter's mother, Mrs. Ethel M. Dickson of Om aha, died Tuesday at an Omaha Hospital at G3. She Is survived by three dau ghters, Mrs. Rayma Fisher of Omaha, Mrs. Eleanor Swanson of Torrence, Calif., and Mrs Wanda McBee of Stockton, Cal if.; two sons, Richard of Louis ville and Garland of Palmdule, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Her man Cohen, Scarsdale, New York, and Mrs. Elsie Aldrich of Dallas, Tex.; 13 grandchil dren and two great - grandchil dren. Funeral services were Friday at 2 p.m. at Kremer Funeral Home with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha. Mrs. Mary Amelang attended the Missionary Meeting at the Weeping Water Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon. The guest speaker was Letah Doyle, a missionary who had just re turned from India. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ward of Central Point, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ward were Sat urday afternoon callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Livingston near Weeping Wa ter. They were supper guests that evening at the Ralph Wel te home. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry McKin- stry of Manley are parents of a son born Jan. 5 at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City. He weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and has been named Eugene Alan. Mrs. McKinstry was formerly Alberta Graham of Louisville. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George McKinstry of Weeping Water and Mr. and Mrs. John Graham of Louisville. Great -grandmother is Mrs. William McKinstry of Louisville. Todd Phone 2441 The Union Woman's Club met at the home of Mrs. L. G. Todd Jan. 5. Icy streets and roads made it difficult for the ladies to get to the meeting but with several husbands to act as drivers, 12 members were able to attend. Mrs. Clarence Beccard acted as secretary protem in the ab sence of the secretary, Mrs Lewis Mougey. Roll call was answered by each member telling about and displaying old coins they had brought to the meeting. Mrs. Clifton Garrison was the leader of the meeting and her topic was "Old Coins." She pre sented Don Wolfe, Union, who has been collecting coins for several years. Mr. Wolfe gave a talk on old coins. Mrs. Wolfe was a guest with her husband. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting by Mrs. Todd, assisted by Mrs. Melvin Todd Sr. Charles Swan who is serious ly ill was taken by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital last Wed nesday. Russell Easter who was a pa tient at St. Mary's for several weeks, suffering from pneumon ia, was able to be brought home last Tuesday but will have to remain in bed for some time. Mr. Griffin is recovering nice ly since returning home from the hospital and is now able to get about some, even out of Soors. He reports this is ' doc tor's orders." Con Watkins received word the other day that his father, James Watkins, was ill and ta ken to Big Springs Home at Humans ville. Mo. Mr. and Mrs. James Frans and daughters Barbara and Pa tricia of Milford surprised Jim's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Frans, last Sunday by driv ing to Union for a visit wtih the parents. Correction Herman P Meisinger, whose death brought a great regret to the community, was a long time and devout member of the Lib erty Evangelical United Breth ren Church, Mynard, in the years he lived in that commun ity.
