AVOCA One of the biggest scores in Cass County high school basketball history was josted here when Avoca defeated Elmwood. 100-76. Wayne Wohlers of Avoca cag ed 37 points, one of the biggest individual single game totals for a Cass County prep player. Avoca used just five players, scored 36 points in the fourth quarter. Mendenhall and T. Green led Elmwood with 19 and 18. The victory was Avoca's sev enth straight this season. It has averaged 76 points a game, Avoca won the second-team game, 41-33, for a 5-1 record. The home school's volleyball record was stretched to 6-0 with a 9-5, 9-11, 11-9 win over Elm wood. He slipped on the ice in the yard that caused the fall. He was taken to the St. Cath erine's hospital in Omaha where the injured member was set. Now The Cass-Otoe National Farm Loan Association, Weeping Wat er, became the Federal Land Bank Association of Weeping Water Jan 1, according to an announcement today by Harold C. Elliott, manager. The name change was made to more closely identify it with the Federal Land Bank of Omaha which furnishes funds through the association for long-term real estate loans to farmers in Cass and Otoe counties Land Bank funds are obtained through sale of bonds to private investors. The Cass-Otoe Association was the result of a consolidation of four associations in 1943 which had been originally formed in Nebraska City, Nehawka, Alvo and Greenwood. Mr. Elliott be came manager when his prede cessor Carl D. Ganz entered the service during World War II. The association now has $2,356,100.00 outstanding in the two counties. Mrs. Kay Miesbach, Elliott's assistant in the office, is the former Kay Watermeier. dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Watermeier of Burr. Clifford C. Cooper of Weeping Water is president of the associa tion's board of directors and Herman C. Kupke, Murdock, is vice president. Other directors, In addition to the two officers, are: Ivan G. McReynolds was charged with reckless driving and was given a fine of $25 and costs amounting to $29. Wayne M. Clark was charged with intoxication and given a fine of $15 and costs that was paid.
