SEMI-WEEKLY JOURNAL PAGE TWO Monday, January 4, 1960 Miss Habel Weds Glen Nickels WEEPING WATER (Special) The wedding of Miss Judy Hubel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Habel of Louisville and Glen Nickels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nickels of Platts mouth took place Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Methodist church in Louisville at 8 p.m. Rev. William L. McCord officiated at the doub le ring ceremony. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of white nylon lace over taffeta with full elbow len gth sleeves and rounded neck line. Her double tiered illusion veil was held by a crown of seed pearls and iridescent se quins. She wore a corsage of red roses. Miss Jeanlne Habel of Louis ville, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a blue nylon chiffon ballerina length gown and wore a corsage of red roses . Don Jenkins of Plattsmouth was best man. Mrs. Wayne Gess of Louisville played the organ music for the wedding. The bride's mother chose a blue brocaded taffeta dress with navy blue accessories. The bride groom's mother was attired in a royal blue dress with blue ac cessories. They both wore white carnation corsages. A reception was held in the church parlors following the ceremony. Miss Anita Little of Louisville was In charge of the guest book and the gifts; Mrs. Zelma Sutton of Louisville cut the double tiered wedding cake and Mrs. Victor Woolhiser of Louisville poured cofiee. She has been named Lisa. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Plotier of Murray and Mr. and Mrs. W.. E. Harris of Platts mouth. Mrs. Clara Arnold of this city is a great grandmother of the newborn. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Harold G. Wag ner of this city are parents of a 7 lbs. 234 oz. daughter born Dec. 29 at St. Catherine's Hospital, Omaha. She has been named Tamara Jean. The couple also has another daughter, Debbie. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. E Wagner of this city and Mr. and Mrs. James Bole of Belle vue. L. M. Despite the inclement weather, 70 guests came to offer their congratulation's and best wishes. Mr. and Mrs. rnorns were mar ried December 29th, 1909 at Wa bash, Nebraska in a double wed ding ceremony with her sister, Miss Grace Hinds to William Copple. Mrs. Copple was in the receiving line with Mr. and Mrs. Norris. They started housekeeping on a farm southeast of Weeping Water, moving to their present farm a few years later, where they have lived 44 years. Mr. and Mrs. Norris have one son, Clar ence of Weeping Water, and two grandchildren, Jack of Colum bus, Nebraska and Mrs. Philip Starck of Kaneohe, Hawaii. Greeting the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Norris and Mr. and Mrs, Jack Norris. Those who attended both the wedding and golden wedding an niversary were Ed Lorensen, Eu gene Colbert, Mr. and Mrs. Gor don Heneger, John Norris, Er nest Norris, Mrs. Carl Tefft and Mrs. William Copple. Assisting with the serving were Mesdames Ernest Norris, Elmer Hallstrom, John Norris, Carl Tefft, Calvin Carsten and Tom Akeson. Mrs. Arthur Norris and Mrs. Richard Norris served the punch. Registering the guests were Miss Esther Tefft and Mrs. Jack Norris. Those In charge of the gift table were Mesdames Geo rge Domingo, Laurence Eiden miller, Arnold Detmer, Glen Heneger and R. P. Hobson. Din ing room assistants were the Misses Bonnie Noble, Maribelle Klliott, Karen Eidenmiller, Sally Carsten, Alice Lauritzen and Mary Alice Wood. The beautifully appointed table was covered with a lace table cloth over gold, centered with a long, low arrangement of gold carnations and white cus hion' mums and lemon leaves sprayed with gold. On either side were brass candlesticks with gold spiral candles. A matching lace cover was on the round punch table. Mr and Mrs. Norris wore or chid leis from Hawaii, a gift from their granddaughter and husband, Mr and Mrs. Philip Starck. A table display of relics, many pictures and a scrapbook depict ing the different phases of their married life attracted a great deal of interest. Preceding a short musical pro gram, Rev. I. C. G. Campbell offered a prayer and a few well chosen words. Victor Wallick sang, "Ah Sweet Mystery of Life" accom panied by Miss Kathryn Ellis, followed by Miss Maribelle El liott singing "Sweetest Story Ever Told" accompanied by Ric hard Elliott. Mr. and Mrs. Arn old Detmer sang "Through the Years" accompanied by Miss El liott. Mrs. Helen Smith and Miss Susan Wood furnished appro priate background music dur ing the afternoon. The Congre gational Women's Fellowship had charge of serving the reception. ENGAGED Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Mendenball of Elmwood are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Marilyn, to Dean L. Crewdson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Crewdson of Lincoln. Marilyn is a senior at Nebraska Wesleyan University, is a member of Barbs and is listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Uni versities. Mr. Crewdson is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He is now in the army and stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. An August wedding is planned. Church was the set ting Tuesday evening, Dec. 22, tor the Wedding of Sharon Bor nemeier of Lincoln, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bornemeier, Murdock and Rodney Helm of Lincoln, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Helm, Louisville. The Bride appeared in a gown of imported chantilly lace and tulle. Natural scallops framed the sabrina neckline and the billowing skirt was lifted to form scalloped side peplums over tiers of ruffled tulle. A crown of lace with pearl teardrops held her veil and she carried a white Bible covered with white orchids and feathered white carnations. Mrs. Donald Bornemeier was matron of honor, Mrs. Ervin Stohlman was brides " matron, and Miss Loralne Biggs of Lin coln was bridesmaid. Lighting the tapers were Miss es Sandra Backameyer and Ramona Streik both of Lincoln. Joel Heim of Louisville was best man, Ervin Stohlman and Nick Stolzer of Omaha were groomsmen. Serving as ushers were Carl Rhoten of Palmyra, and Marvin Proke of Omaha. After a wedding trip to Texas the couple will reside at 945 So. 14th in Lincoln. The bride attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and Mr. Heim is a graduate of Peru State College where he was a member of Alpha Mu Omega honorary. He is on the faculty of Millard Lefler Junior High school. Mr. and Mrs. Roy O. Cole had as guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cole and Darlene of Brule Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shera and family. They traveled by train. They visited the couple's son and family, the Dick Beverages at Oakland. This was their first meeting with their little grand daughter, Stephanie Lynn, three months old. They also were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warren and their family at Oakland. Mr. Warren is a brother of Mrs. Beverage. Another brother, Francis lives at San Diego, but they were un able to get-together due to their short stay. Monday the Plattsmouth cou-1 pie celebrated their 32nd wedd ing anniversary at a party with their hosts.
