Meeting opened with the flag salute. Song lead er led In a collection of old songs. Business meeting was held and It was decided to have the family Christmas party Dec. 19. Safety and legislative chair man presented interesting re ports. The lesson leaders, Mrs. Au gust Siemonet and Mrs. Stuart Meislnger, gave an Interesting lesson on Skillet Meals. They prepared Italian spaghetti, Cae sar Green Beans, Corn Bread, and Skillet Cookies. Next regular meeting will be on Jan.' 14, 1960. Couple Welcomes New Grandson Mrs. Anna Schubeck went to Omaha Monday evening to wel come a new grandson born to Mr. and Mrs. JIarold Andersen, Nov. 23. The boy weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz., and has been named Har old Oeen, Also there to welcome the new baby was the paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amo Andersen of Omaha. Cook was hos tesss to the Dorcas Circle WSCS at her home on Thursday after noon, Nov. 19. Mrs. H. Jerry Gordon and Mrs. Martin Cole attended. Meeting was opened by Mrs. M. M. Munele, chairman, with all praying the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Lee Eastridge gave the devotions on the topic "Grace of Grateful." She also read an article by Evangelist Billy Gra ham "Our Christian Witness.' Mrs. John Schriener wa3 ap pointed Secretary pro-tent. Mrs. Raymond Hamilton told of the recent visit to the church of Dr. Frank Manton, from Bur ma. Mrs. Schreiner read letters from Sandy McCaig of Borneo. She is a Nebraska girl. Mrs. Ot to Wolfarth reported on M.Y.F. activities. The lesson from study book, "Contemporary Man and the U. N." wae given by Mrs. Percy Wheeler. A gift was presented to little Steven Cole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Cole. Mrs. Munele con ducted a stork game with the winnings deposited In a bank and given to the Cole baby. Hostesses served refresh ments. December meeting will be with Mrs. Karl Grosshans, with a gift exchange. Riverview Club Meets at Croups The Riverview Club met Nov. 19 at the heme of Mrs. John Group. There were nine mem bers ard two visitors present. Visitors were Mrs. Ed Group nnd Mrs. Ous Piatt. Mrs. Omar Persingir became a member. Plans were made for a family Christmas Party on the evening of December 12. The program for j 1960 was selected. I Mrs. Robert Schneider gave the lessen on Good Breakfasts. You'll want to add it to your collection. . . . V" Coin So Unit Auxiliary to Legion Meets November meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary to Hugh J. Kearns Post 56 was held at the 40 et 8 rooms. Mrs. Lloyd Fitch, president, called the meeting to order, fol lowed by the advancement of colors by Mrs. Oliver Schlber and Mrs. Melvin Moritz. The opening prayer was given by Mrs. Harry Porter. New members Mrs. Mary Pitt man, and Miss Shirley Morehead were introduced. Mrs. Eugene Vroman, mem bership chairman, reported 119 paid members for 1960. Scholarship Chairman, Mrs. Carl Morehead, announced "Need a Lift" booklets had been distributed to the public schools and library. The Rehabilitation Committee has completed the hospital as signment and sent the articles to the hospital. A contribution of $20 will be sent to "The Yanks Who Gave." Also $2 will be given to the TB Association for seals. A citation of merit with a Superior rating was presented to the local unit by the state. This Citation is given for meri torious service in carrying for ward the department program and contributing to the achieve ments of the American Legion Auxiliary. A Christmas party will be held In December, the date will be announced later. Following a silent prayer, co lors were retired and the meet ing adjourned. The evening was then spent making tarlaton gifts for the Veteran's hospital. Refreshments were served by Lucille Gaines. Margaret Fitch, June Jacobs. Louise Vallery, Geraldine Hirz, Eunice Griffin, Irma Bayley, Flossie Read and Nettie Ruse. Next meeting Wednesday, Dec. 16. Mrs. Frank Sands of this city was taken to St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City Tuesday wnere she will undergo examination and treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Land will entertain Mr. and Mrs. Con Watkins of Union and Mrs. Wade Arnold and sons James and Ed dy. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Larson will be in Omaha with their son and family, the Raymond Larsons, Jr. Also attending will be the senior Mrs. Larson's brothers and families of Lincoln and Council Bluffs, la. The Don Lorensen family will be guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Swits of Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Morrison and children Laura Jean and Thomas Dean will be in Bur chard Thanksgiving Day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hu bert Morrison, and will spend the weekend there. Mr. and Mrs Oscar Mussman and family will motor to Lyons where they will have Thanks giving Dinner with their good friends, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Behn and daughter Janice. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tesch and family will be guests of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Rahn in Newcastle, Nebr. Mrs. Paul Liedtke and son returned home Saturday from a visit in Germany with her par ents. The visitors have been gone since Sept. 16. 'Gratitude at Thanksgiving Has Many Facets' Thanksgiving gratitude is a "symphony of many move ments," Rev. R. H. Nagler of Papllllon told the Rotary Club in a special Thanksgiving talk here Tuesday. The Lutheran minister, who doubles as vacancy pastor for First Lutheran here, said the gratitude we feel at this time of year should contain these facets: humility, loreglveness, patience, worship, stewardship and the God-given ability to feel grateful for Thanksgiving Itself. He said the secret of Thanks giving is "that we praise God and honor Him in our works and lives." Rev, Nagler was introduced by A. W. Huebner, program chair man for the day. Members discussed the date and place for" our Christmas party. A motion was made the party be held at the Mynard unurch Dec. 30. The next meeting will be held Dec. 19 at the home of Rheda Boardman. Social Workers Flower Club Meets With Mrs. Thomas Social Workers Flower Club held their Nov. 11 Meeting at the home of Mrs. John Thomas with Mrs. Nettle Mumm as co hostess. President Mrs. Anna Kaffen berger called the meeting to order by all standing and repeat ing the Lord's Prayer. The secretary report was given by Mrs. Bette Kellison and treasurer report by, Mrs. Tress Peterson. Plans were made to sell lunch at Theo Schafer farm sale in December. Mrs. Bette Kellison showed how to braid rugs. She also showed a large display of ear rings, some that come from for eign countries. Mrs. Wilma Rice showed slides of her wedding and also that of her sister, Mary Kay Smith. There were 13 members pre sent. Mrs. Georgia Creamer was a guest. The Christmas meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Isola Kaffenberger with bake goods as a gift exchange. Fun-Service Club Formed at Nehawka Nov. 23, eight girls and a leader met in the staff room of Nehawka School to organize a neighborhood fun and service club.
