Mrs. Emily Gonzales and Mrs. Ruth Monninn accompanied relatives liom Iowa City and Silver Spring, Md., early Sunday morning, to Benkohnan, Nebr. There a number of relatives ga thered to enjoy a picnic din ner. They returned home Mon day and the eastern folkj left for Iowa City Tuesday a.m. Fairview Woman's Club met with Mrs. Howard Miller Oct. 15. The project leaders Mrs. Mel Miller and Mrs. Lloyd Miller, gave the lcson on "Skillet Meals." The next meeting Is to be with Mrs. Ray Fenterman, Nov. 19. The WSCS of the Methodist church met Oct. 29 for their "Quiet Hour." Leaders were Mrs. 11. L. Bannln, Mrs. E. Men denhall, Mr. Strabel, Mrs. J. Hansen and Mrs. Guy Clements. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lannin are parents of a daughter born Oct. 28. Her name Is Lorie Jeanne and she ha 2 brothers and a sister. Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Stolz and Mrs. Harry Lannin. George Mickel is great-grandfather. Lena Relke spent two days last week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ross Nails (formerly Clista Schlanker) In Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Dlxson of Arroyo Grande, Calif., visit ed her mother, Mrs. Wm. Cook, for a week leaving for their home Friday by car. Mrs. Dix son; LeRoy Cook and others went on a hunting trip. Attending the American Le gion district meeting at Utica from here were Mrs. Strabel, Mrs. Emily Gonzales, Mrs. Har old Strabel and Harold Strabel, elected County Commander. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Geweke of Tecumseh called on the Edmund Steiners last Sunday. Silvia Steiner will give her senior organ recital Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. at St. Paul Methodist church in Lincoln. The public In invited. Quite a number of Elmwood people attended the Cass Coun ty Christian Fellowship meeting In the Christian Church at Weeping Water Sunday evening. Next meeting will be at Elm wood MethodLt in December. The office force of Drs. Lis ten and Knosp Sunday evening surprised Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hemke who will .oon be leav ing for Texas to live. Mrs. Hem ke will be greatly missed as of fice nurse. They were pre;ent ed with a decorative wall clock. Mrs. W. E. Austin of Nebraska City attended church here and called on Mr. and Mrs. Floyd La Fever and Mr. and Mrs. Hughej. Her husband was a minister and recently passed away. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Creamer, Mrs. Mary Churchil and Steven were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lorenz of Hickman. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Ebe- ler Nursing Home for Mrs. G. J. Kahl of Burr. It was held here as her husband is also a pa tient here and not able to leave. Monday, services were held in Burr. G. J. Kahl was banker in Burr for many years and when your writer taught school there, years ago, he was president of the school board. Hubert Bishop who had been working moit of the summer in Denver, returned home several days ago. Mrs. Ed James was happy to have her daughter and grand daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Don Boudreau and Jim stop in to see them Sunday and to stay to supper. Mr. Boudreau is a soil conservationist at Mullen. Mr. and Mrs. George Dilger and son Charles of Omaha stopped to see her mother, Mrs. Lena Bornemeier, on their way to Lincoln last Sunday. In spite of the rain last Fri day evening there were 75 chil dren came to the EUB church to be taken out in groups to call on everyone in town. They col lected $83 for UNICEF. Mrs. Eric Chat ling, Methodl t; Mrs. Skyle Miller, Christian; Mrs. Lester Ro.ser.ow, EUB were the lead ers. The children enjoyed a sack lunch when they returned from touring the town. Sunday afternoon callers at the home of Mr. and Mr0. C. A. Bronn were Mr. and Mrs. George Bronn, Lincoln, Mrs. Ray Hoy of Waverly; Mrs. Good rich, Lincoln; Dr. and Mrs. Rus sell Gorthy and children and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jame, and Jelfrey all of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. William Coakley were Sunday vistors of his mo ther, Mrs. Belle Coakley. Coak ley is county .surveyer and they live in Plattsmouth. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Borne niier drove to tairbury last Thursday to attend the district convention of county officials. There are 20 counties included. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Eve land accompanied by Mrs. Bla.iche Kuehn and Alice have been on a trip to Ohio and will return soon. Greenwood Mm. Frank Hurlbut Phone 2685 Orville Sandy was a Sunday guest of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Nelson in Lincoln. An open meeting sponsored by the Greenwood Woman's club will be Nov. 10 at the Greenwood Methodist church basement. Mrs. Bize of Lincoln will elvfi a talk and show a film on the State Hospital of Lincoln. Mrs. Turley Wall, Mrs. Robert Wall and Mrs. Ro e McDonald are the hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Lad Bednar of Lincoln spent Sunday afternoon and evening at the John John son home. Mrs. Ronald (Xburn and chil dren of Lincoln spent Sunday at the C. W. Osburn home. Mrs. Eugene Brown returned to her home Monday at Phoenix, Ariz., Monday after spending a week visiting her mother, Mrs. Ella Laune of Waverly and sis ter, Mrs. Vernon Greer and family. Mr. and Mrs. Merril Stewart of Lincoln called on Mrs. Nancy Erickson Tuesday. Mrs. Norma McNurlin spent the pa.t week visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Brandes at Wichita, Kans. Mrs. Brandes brought Mrs McNerlin home by car Sunday. Mrs. Nell Anderson of Lincoln also accompanied them as she had been visiting at ine Brandes home. Rodger Osburn suffered a bro ken collar bone during football practice recently. The Knolles came to attend the Homecoming at the University of Nebraska and the football game. Mrs. Elsie Marvin received word Thuursday evening of the death of her brother, John Kim beriey at Prescott, Ariz. Mr. Kimberly formerly lived at Greenwood many years. Sunday afternoon visitors at the Kenneth O'Rourke home were Mrs. Max Ma! one and neice of Waverly. . . Mrs. Ken Carpenter ,and Gus Brakhage accompanied Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Brakhage of Lincoln to Lexington Saturday and Mrs. Gus Brakhage returned home with them. Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Grady and Mrs. Bill Rosencrans and boys spent from Thursday ev ening to Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. John Gakemeier at Faribault, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fitzgerald and Lloyd Koch of Lincoln were Saturday supper guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kirk in honor of Mrs. Fitzgerald's birthday. The Senior MYF group enjoyed a Hallowe'en party at the Glen Marolf home Friday evening. Mrs. Robert Wall and Mrs. Georgia Bench attended the Parent Twin Club in Lincoln Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Schroe der, son and two daughters called on Mr. and Mrs. Mardy Gustafson Saturday evening. The two girls, Diane and Shar on, stayed over till Sunday ev ening when Mr. and Mrs. Gus tafson took them home.
