Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Peteete and family of Ogallala, Ne braska are moving in the Ever ett Heier House. Mr. Peteete has been in Alvo this week and plans to move his family here next Sunday. They have six children. Mr. Peteete Is employed as a Postal Clerk at Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Oran Gilmore have a new granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnsen of Lin coln are the parents. The baby weighed more than nine pounds. Mrs. Esther Clark, Mrs. Char les Roelofsz, Mrs. Nancy Snavely and Ms. Elmer Rosenow attend ed a shower for Mrs. Karl Lee Clark at the home of Mrs. Alton Gartner in Unadilla, Sunday. Ray Rosenow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rosenow, and his band played for the Nebraska University Phi Delta Phi Frat- ernity dance which was held In the Terrace Room at the Lin coln Hotel, Saturday evening. George Young of Sidney, Ne braska visited at the H. M. Weiehel home last week Monday while his wife attended the Flower show at Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nickel and Keith were at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nickel and Paul, Saturday, at Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Edwards are with Mr. Edwards brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tal Edwards while they are remodel ing their house south of town, formerly occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Tal Edwards. Their plans are to be moved in by the last of the month. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Rueter left last Friday for Jefferson, Iowa to visit at the home of their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Voitman and help them celebrate their twenty fifth wedding anniversary. They returned Wednesday. The Iowa relatives were also present to help celebrate the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Claus Kranzen of Arcadia were weekend guests at the Phillip Nickel home. Mr. and Mrs. Oran Gilmore and sons visited their daughter and new granddaughter at the Lincoln General Hospital, Sun. day afternoon and then attend ed a family reunion at the home of Mrs. Gilmore's mother, Mrs. Dena Wismer at Firth in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tomes Jr. and Mrs. Frank Tomes Sr. of Plattsmouth were at the home of Mrs. Frank Tomes Sr. brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sutton this week. Countyans Purchase $45,519 in Bonds Walter H. Smith, county chair man of the savings bonds com mittee, reported that Cass Coun ty residents purchased $45,519 in E nd H savings bonds last month. At the end of September, yearly purchases totaled $666, 494 or 84.8 per cent of the "quo ta" for the year. Smith also said inquiries about E and H bonds have increased steadily since the Treasury De partment recently announced all savings bonds will pay a higher rate of interest and reminds ev eryone that bonds purchased since June 1, 1959, will earn 3 and three-quarters per cent interest when held to maturity and the rate on all older bonds has been increased by at least one-half of one per cent or more. He urged all bond owners to hold their old bonds and contin ue to purchase the new ones. State-wide sales during the month amounted to $5,619,361 and pushed the yearly purchas es by Nebraskans to $76,236,164 which represents 81.5 per cent of the Nebraska quota. Mrs. Crete Hopper, Brandon visited relatives here Saturday. She had attended teachers con vention at Lincoln. Carr were among other relatives who at tended a surprise house warm ing for their son and wife Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Carr in Nebras ka City Sunday. This was dinner and a gift was presented the Carrs. Mr .and Mrs. John Buckholz entertained at dinner honoring their 35th wedding anniversary last week. Edgar Mueller, Otoe had his arm caught in a corn sorter machine while working at Stec kley Seed Co. last week. The arm was badly bruised, broken and ligaments torn loose and was placed in a cast. He is at his home since being released from Bryan Memorial, Lincoln Saturday. Several from here attended funeral services for Lt. Charles Glenn Place Tuesday at Nebr aska City. He was the brother of Mrs. Roy Ruhge. Philip Maseman is home from Veterans Hospital, Omaha on temporary leave and visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bose en tertained at a Halloween High School party Wednesday. Mrs. Bond has moved her new trailer house on the lot recently purchased from Mrs. Dena Ruge. Mrs. Ella Gollner and Mrs. Marion Pittman attended fun eral services in Lincoln for Mr. Oleurine father of Joe Oleurine. Nine members of the Golden Rod Garden club visited the Vir gil Blumwurst gardens at Cook Tuesday. Mrs. Hans Jensen is a patient at Bryan Memorial Hospital, Lincoln following surgery last Tuesday. Mrs. Emma Rawalt is visiting at the home of her nephew Ralph Spencer at St. Louis this week. Relatives received word that Joe Habel, Louisville is a patient at Veterans Hospital, Lincoln. He is the husband of the former Lela Stovall. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nutzman and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Olt man, Idaho Falls, Idaho, visit ed relatives here Monday. Mrs. Oltman was the former Verna Nutzman. The Junior High entertained at a get acquainted tea for their mothers and friends recently. Barbara McDonald, Vicky Ahr ens and Ruth Ann Wessel serv ed the cake, candy and nuts. Carol Van Ackern fell on a piece of glass at her home Sun day and had to have several st itches taken in her wrist. Jack Hallstrom, Omaha, was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the State Education association this week. He is principal at Mount View elementary school in rural Douglas County. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Vander slice and Susan returned to their home in Long Beach after seveal weeks leave here visiting rel atives. He was reported to have been discharged recently which was in error. Mrs. William Emshoff, Nebr aska City is heme from the hos pital where she had surgery two weeks ago. Her daughter, Mrs. Mervin Havercamp Is helping her. Mr. Dunnigan is Pres ident of the Mens Laymens Fel lowship and he spoke on "Chris tian Higher Education". Mr. and Mrs. Richard Shipley and daughter, Omaha visited Sunday at her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Pummel and also called at the Tom Fletcher home. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman returned home from Bertrand last week where they attended the Nutzman reunion. Two fam ilies had perfect attendance who were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Nutzman and families, Mr. and Mrs. Omar Nutzman and famil ies, officers elected to serve for 1960 were Mrs. John Sweenie, Springfield and Mrs. Elmer Wes sel, Nehawka. Seventeen WAF the girls In Air Force blue took to the classrooms of the Noncommis sioned Officers Preparatory School at Offutt to receive the same Instruction that has been passed on to their male counter parts. The Initial group is composed of nine staff sergeants and eight airmen first class. Length of the course is four weeks.
