They left Omaha Friday morning. Mrs. Philpot jilans to .spend the winter there. Mr. Peterson was called here by the illness of his brother Fred of Auburn and his sister of Auburn. Both were hospitalized and are now Improved. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Behrns of Omaha were guests Sunday of Alvin McReynolds and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kime and Marlin. Mr. and Mrs. Kline at tended the state corn picking contest at Neilfih on Monday. Dr. and Mrs. L. N. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mayfield of Garland were weekend guests of the Shraders. Mrs. Lindquist and Mrs. Moore attended the banquet of the Eastern Star at Weeping Water Monday evening with the Shraders. Mrs. R. B. Stone, Mrs. Neil Pierce and Mrs. Walter Wunder lich attended graveside servic es of Dr. Frances Woods of Tucson, Ariz. The service was held at Nebraska City. A birthday dinner Sunday honored Carol Stone of Omaha at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs ..Chester Stone. Guests were Mrs. R. B. Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stone and sons. Mrs. Jim Attebery and daugh ters, Union, were supper guests Thursday of the Victor Turners. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Winland for several days were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos eph Mallett of Lewlsville, Ohio and cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Rob. ert Gooch of Croton, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Warlick joined Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. James Jensen of' Avoca and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Knake of Ashland at dinner in Omaha Saturday evening to observe the seventh wedding anniversary of the Johnsons. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred War lick attended the horse show in Auburn Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Salkill, Downs, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Arnold, Luray, Kansas were guests Wednesday and overnight of Mr. and Mrs. John Tyson. Mr. and Mrs. Salkill are uncle and aunt of Mr. Tyson and their guests visited Mrs. Irvin Rookstool of Weeping Water. Bill Mayfield had nine of his classmates for a birthday sup per Thursday. Gerald Swltzer recently made a trip to Colorado. He visited Mr. and Mrs. Chalmer Switzer of Minden, Nebr. on the way and also went through pioneer Village. In Denver he spent three days with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Clay Brown and at Newcastle he was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gerstel. Mrs. Sterling Ross and Shir ley, Mrs. Raymond Ehlers and Nancy, Mrs. Willard Briley and Ann went to Lincoln Thursday evening to get material for the girls Pep club uniforms. A fire was started in the Wm. Waldo car Saturday afternoon when a cigaret was thrown in to the car. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Long and two sons and Mr. Bonner of Council Bluffs were weekend guests of George Sheldon. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ross re turned Friday evening from North Platte where they attend ed the five day meetings of jthe Grand Lodge. Mr. Ross went as a delegate for the Encampment, Patriarch Militant and Odd Fel low lodges. Mrs. Ross was dele gate for Ladies Encampement Auxiliary and Ladies Auxiliary of the Patriarch Militant. Mr. Ross is quartermaster of the P. M. Mrs. Ross served as color guard. She was appointed as page of L. E. A. and right aide to the chaplain in L. A. P. M. for next year. Mrs. Dorothy Jo:e attended the meetings as a del egate of the Nehawka Rebecca lodge. Johnathan Cass The Jonathan Cass chapter of the D. A. R. planned to send gifts to St. Marys Indian school in South Dakota. They met with Mrs. Lois Tefft of Avoca Friday afternoon. The program was D. A. R. approved schools. Mrs. E. C. Giles of Platts mouth was elected registrar to take the place of Mrs. Marion Tucker, deceased. Dues are now in order. Mrs. J. J. Pollard gave the devotions. Mrs. Lawrence Wiseman reportd on national defense. Guests were Miss Jessie Robertson, Plattsmouth and Mrs. John Norris, Avoca. The next meeting is with Mrs. Ralph Keckler of Weeping Water. Those attending from Nehawka were Miss Evelyn Wolph, Mmes. R. B. Stone, Dwi ght Cook, J. J. Pollard and Ray mond Pollard. Claude O'Connor spent a week tarveling through Missouri, Kentuckey and Tennesee. They visited Mammoth Cave and at tended the Grand Ole Opry. En route home they came through Indiana and Illinois. Mrs. Doris Pollard accompan ied her son, Larry of Omaha to the game in Lincoln Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Murdoch visited Mr. and Mrs. John Chap pell of Plattsmouth Friday and found them in good health. Mr. and Mrs. Murdoch visited Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Warden of Union Sunday. Mrs. Ella Cook and Mrs. Edna Philpot of Weeping Water, Alvin Turner of Unadil la visited at the Murdoch home when Mr. Pete Peterson of Calif, was their guest. Mrs. Henry Thiele of Platts mouth accompanied Mrs. Wil don Switzer to Omaha Thursday on a business trip. Mrs. R. B. M ffll H An Blrf u feS When Traveling, Have Eagle Eye Out for Eagles By Mrs. John Fischer EAGLE (Special) You can go from Palmyra to Eagle in just a little while but you would not necesarily wind up in Cass County. A survey of the Atlas follow ing a conversation with tourists shows there are three other Eagles. One, in Wisconsin with 402 population, is in about the same location compared with its neighbor Palmyra (pop. 862) as Eagle is in relation to Palmyra in Nebraska. And, further observation shows there are 14 villages with an "Eagle prefix" Eagleville, Eagle Butte, Eagle Nest, Eagle Town, Eagle Bend, Eagle Grove, Eagle Lake, Eagle Pa:s and Eagle Rock. There are three Eagle Lakes, in Maine, Texas and Florida, Eagle Rivers in Wis consin and Micljigan. Eagle, Idaho, has 250 popula tion and Eagle, Colo., 445. Navy Mothers v Tag Day Saturday Navy Mothers will be out on the streets of Plattsmouth Sat urday Oct. 24 for the Navy Moth ers Tag Day. This group does welfare work for Navy Personel and families. They also give to Civic and Community Drives and help with bingo parties at the Veterans Hospitals. This worthy organization asks your support.
