Campbell opened the meeting by leading the group in repeating the 23rd Psalm. The program topic for the afternoon was A Calling to Fulfill. Mrs. William Newham led in devotions and Mrs. Ras mus Laurltzen Jr. had charge of the program. She closed the program by reading a poem, A Plea. A white cupcake with a white candle and a scrip ture verse was at each plate. The birthday table was centered by the birthday cake, baked by Mrs. Leo Christensen with love ly candlesticks and candles on either side. Seated at the birthday table were Mrs. William Klemme, Mrs. John Van Horn, Mrs. Lynn Rothe, Mrs. Christensen and Mrs. Ed Freeman. The lights were turned off. the candles lighted and each lady read her verse of scripture. Following the dinner, Mrs. David Baxter presided at the meeting and, opened with the thought, The Call To His Pur pose. Mrs. William Klemme pre sented devotions on the topic, Give of Thy Wealth. Mrs. John Hammons read the scripture. Group singing was held with Mrs. Henry Knaup at the piano. Mrs. Lynn Rothe and Mrs. Char les Freeman gave circle re -ports. The Senior Circle will meet Oct. 8 with Mrs. Charles Free man, the Junior Circle Oct. 1 with Mrs. Leon Bond. The Senior Circle was in charge of the luncheon. Mr. and Mrs. John Hammons were Wednesday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. David Baxter and boys. Thursday dinner gu ests were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Zierott and son of Murdock. Ruth Wiles was a Friday eve ning guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ar vin Patton and family. The Brownies met on Tuesday after school at the home of the leader, Mrs .Lewis Baker, with 18 girls present. The girls made a health chart to take home. The girls sang several songs. The girls sent a get-well card to Paula Freeman who was a pa tient at the Lincoln General Hos pital. Mrs. Lee Stratton and Monty accompanied Mrs. Alvin Rod away and Helen to Nebraska City where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Betts. While there, they went to see the boat, the Avalon. A song and game workshop for Brownie and Intermediate Girl Scout leaders was held on Mon day morning and Monday after noon at the home of Mrs. Lewis Baker. The ladies holding the workshop were Mrs. Eleanor Webster of Marshalltown, Iowa, council advisor of the Girl Scout National Staff form the National Branch office at Kansas City, Missouri, and Mrs. Esther Bark hurst, district director of Jay Husker Council. Those attending the workshop were Mrs. Ray Hespen, Mrs. Louis .Witte and Mrs. Paul Phillipe of Syracuse, Mrs. Pat Wade and Mrs. L. N. Houseman. Another workshop was held in Syracuse on Wednes day. Sunday evening guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Richards and daughter Myrna and her friend from Lincoln. The Welfare Society met on Monday afternoon in the Odd Fellows Hall with Mrs. Tom Col bert, Villa Jameson and Mrs. Elmer Michelsen, Sr. as hos tesses. The ladies tied three comforters at the meeting. After the leg was put In a cast, the little fellow said the other leg hurt. He was tak en to the doctor and it was found the other leg was also fractured. He now has casts on both legs. . The Band Mothers met on Monday evening in the new Band Room for their regular regular meeting, 21 members present. Mrs. E. J. steckiey, ine resident, presided. She thank ed members for cooperation at voted to buy new music stands. Mrs. Ivan Rector was elected vice president and Robert Dap pen was elected treasurer. Fol lowing the business meeting, a reception was held for Mr. and Mrs. Dappen. Cookies and cof fee were served. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rehmeler were surprised Sunday when 60 of their friends and relatives came to their home with a bas ket dinner to honor them on their 45th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gibson and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Keck ler will hold open house Sept. 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the aud itorium for the 50th wedding an niversaries.
