Markland of Weeping; Water, Nebraska were dinner guests of their sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Westlake, last Sunday. Funeral for Mrs. John Peter son of Harlow, Iowa, formerly of Kat?le. w;i.s held ut Harlow, f-ejjt. 0. Hurial was In the e.em t tery at Harlan where her hus band was burled In September 1040. Nanry Louisa Edwards was born Jan. 15. 1BK2 to Daniel L. and Mary Virginia Edwards, then residents of Pae.e eounty Iowa. At an early ae she moved with her parents, to a farm In County and lived near Irwin. Jefferson township. Shelby until July 31, 1007, at Council liluffs, Iowa, They established their home in Defiance, Iowa, then moved io Fare, Nebr, where they operated a erocery and Mercantile Store, until Mr. Peterson's death, 194G. She then moved to Harlan, Iowa to be with her relatives, where t.he has resided since. She be came ill, several weeKS ago anu passed away at the Avoca Nurs ing Hume on Sept. 4th, 1959 at the age of 77 years 2 mo's and 20 days. She was a longtime member and worker in the Eagle . Methodist Church. Survivors: A sister. Grace, Mrs. Minor Munson of Harlan) 2 brothers, J. H. Edwards of Downey, Calif; II. A. Edwards of Harlan: nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Her parents 8 sisters and brothers and hus band preceded her in death. Pallbearers were grand-nephews: Robert D. Blair, Milton Mueller, James Munson, Lyle Munson, Dean Luxford, Harold Jensen. The Trinity Lutheran Church roof has been given a new cover ing by several of the men mem bers of the church this week. Clifford Anderson Jr. is en joying a visit with his wife and parents at Eagle. He has been at Lancaster, Pa. having ,been with one of the base ball Leag ues. Imo Ileebner of Nebraska City Mr. and Mrs. Ray Reynoldson motored to Frankfurt, Kansas on Tuesday to take her sister Mrs. Berg, to visit other relatives. h' iii i t w Mr. and Mrs. Edward Porter visited her brother Friday eve ning. Mrs. Harold Piersol of Lin coln at .the Bryan Memorial Hos pital recovering from injuries of a car-predestrlan accident. His sister, Mrs. Chas Scattergood and Mr. Scattergood visited him at the hospital on Saturday after noon. The Eagle vs Waterloo, foot ball game was played at Eagle last Friday evening at Eagle. The home-team won. Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Gonzales left on Monday morning for Plainview, Nebr. to visit former Elmwood friends, continuing on to Hopkins, Minnesota to visit her son, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald McWilliams and family and also in Iowa with the Charles Gon zales family and other relatives of Mr. Gonzales before return ing home during the next two weeks. Eagle friends were sorry te hear of the death of Mrs. Ed mund Tfrnneke. Walton. Nebr Well known to the Eagle com munity. She has been bedfast for several months. Mmes Henrv Fleishman and Harvey Gerhard received word of the death of their aunt, Mrs. Kate Pentermon in Iowa. Fun eral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Elmwood. On last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Morgan, of Albion, Nebr. Mmes. Hazel Berg of San Clemente, California and Wal lace Peterson of Omaha were birthday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rey- 1 noldson and Ronnie, celebrating the birthdays of Mrs. Reynold son and her brother, Mr. Spen cer Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ander son Jr. are the proud parents of a baby boy, 6 lbs. 11 12 oz. born, Sun. morning, Sept. 13th at the the Brvan Memorial Hospital, Lincoln. The maternal grandpar ents are Mr. and Mrs. k.. n. mor ris and paternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs. Anderson Sr. both at Eagle, Nebr. Both mother and bert Munn baby doing fine. A family get-to-gether was en joyed at the Clinton Westlake home, on last Sunday afternoon and evening when the following families gathered to help Mr. Westake celebrate his birthday. H. N. Erskine's and Faye, Eagle, D. E. Hutchinsons. Orest Ersk ines, Don George's and Ray mond Siekmans', of Lincoln. Mrs. Albert Schwegman of Lincoln, formerly of Eagle, un til a few weeks ago had the mis fortune to fall from a swivel roekine chair and broke her hip. She lives in an apartment near her sister-in-law. She was taken to the Bryan Memorial hospital via ambulance and on Tuesday a pin was applied. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Anderson are enjoying a trip and visit to Iowa and other places of inter ests before returning home, for several days. Mr. Clyde Wenzel of Ft. Col lins, Colo., arrived at Eagle on last Tuesday, tending the nec essary needs of his farm near Eagle for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Umland and daughter left on Thursday morning for a trip via Kansas and Colorado remaining at Og niinlla. Ner.. to visit Mrs. Urn- land's mother for several days before returning home during the 2 week's vacation. Mrs. Nellie Stall died Wednes day afternoon following a stroke earlier In the day. Fun eral services were Saturday af ternoon at the Eagle Methodist Church, RW. Bowne officiat ing. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Muen chau visited her sister and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Copple's near Alvo Tuesday evening and saw the infant niece born to the Copple's a few days ago. The Muenchaus also visited his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Muen chau during the same evening near the Copple home. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bassett and daughter Beverly of Den ver, Colo., were overnight guests at the John Fischer home Wednesday evening con tinuing on to Bedford, la., via Unadilla, Palmyra, Weeping Water and Omaha where they visited relatives, enjoying a va cation from their motel business at Denver. They are former Eagle residents and Unadilla. Schmidt is the pastor. Mrs. Tena Butt is home now after having spent several weeks at her brother's home, Mr. Fred Wenzel near Praire Home and also at her daughters home, the Emil Glaser's at Lin coln. Mr. Eddie Fraucke took ill at home and was taken to the hos pital for medical attention sev eral days ago. He was able to leave the hospital on last Fri day and is convalescing at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Silkman until able to return to his home at Eagle.
