Mike Resso visited for a few days with his grandmother, Mrs. De Forest Philpot. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stoll were Saturday morning guests of Mrs. Philpot. Mr. and Mrs. Horace May and Billy of Kingsburg, Calif., and Mrs. Edward Van Horn and John were Saturday morning guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hyde and boys. Mrs. Ella Cook was a Sunday overnight guest of Mrs. Maude Philpot of Nehawka. This week the kitchen was papered by Mrs. Harold Thorns, assisted by Mrs. Marry Nannen, Mrs. Ross Kin ton, Mrs. Grace Harter and Mrs. Frank Pace. Friends presented Mrs. Sperry with curtains and blinds for the three ,rooms and this completed the re-decorating of three rooms as her birthday gift. Mr. and Mrs. Horace May and Horace Jr. of Kingsburg, Calif ornia arrived on Tuesday and visited until Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Van Horn and her brother and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Hern. Mrs. May was the former Mae Van Horn. A farewell party was held Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Mutter for Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nyrop. Mrs. Harold Elliott and Mrs. E. J. Bender were the committee in charge of the party Esther Tefft served punch at the lace covered table with Hazel Pool serving coffee. Cookies were also served. There were around forty friends present. Mr. and Mrs. Nyrop left Monday morning for Portland, Oregon where they will make their home. Mrs. Lillian Saxton Is visiting for a time with Mr. and Mrs. Murray Mutter. Mr. and Mrs. William Roloff and family of Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kirchhoff and girls were Friday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dettmer and family. A housewarming was held Fri day evening in Lincoln at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Smith, Loreli and Joe. Mrs. Henrietta Kirchhoff, Paul and Gene Kirchhoff were Friday overnight and Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kirchhoff at Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiles are the maternal grand parents. Mr. and Mrs. Carmillo Girardi of New York, City, New York are the paternal grand parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wiles arc the groat-grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stratton were Wednesday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Betts of Nebraska City. Mrs. Francis Thorert entered the Bryan Memorial hospital In Lincoln on Wednesday and underwent surgery on Thursday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Harlon Stock, Francis, Wayne and Char leen Thoren visited her on Sun day evening. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cook and children of Omaha were Sat urday overnight guests of Mrs. Adam Cook. Sunday they attend ed a family picnic dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Matsen of Norfolk, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Cook of Los Angeles, California. Others at tending from this vicinity were Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Cook of Nehawka, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Cook and family of Fremont and Mrs. Addie Wells of Camas, Washington. There were around 60 relatives present for the din ner and supper. Slides were shown in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. George Kirch hoff visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ottens of Otoe on Sunday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoffman entertained their pinochle club on Saturday evening with the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Wade, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mi hulke, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bruns and Mr. and Mrs. Don Tleken. Mr', and Mrs. Robert Wiles visited Mrs. Joe Girardi and Mark in the Bryan Memorial hospital on Sunday afternoon and later called on Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Minford in Lincoln. Mr. and, Mrs. Don Urwin of Louisville, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Baker and family and Mrs. Ves ta Baker enjoyed a picnic din ner in Lincoln on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kinton were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Martin of Shubert. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Rhinhart of Nemaha were after noon guests. Mr. and Mrs. Horace May and son, Mrs. John Van Horn and Johnnie Van Horn called on Mrs. Maude Philpot of Nehawka on Wednesday afternoon. Thursday afternoon ' they called on Mrs. Eugene Kobler of Louisville and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Van Horn and girls of Springfield. They were all Thursday supper guests at the Edward Van Horn home. Rev. and Mrs. Victor Schwarz left on Thursday by train for Denver, Colorado where they will spend a week attending the International convention of Christian churches. S usan Swartz stayed with Mr. and Mrs, Ralph Hyde and boys and Ron ald Swartz stayed with Mr. and Mrs. John Hammons while their parents were away. Mrs. Alvin Rodaway and fam ily of Syracuse were guests of Mrs. Lee Stratton on Tuesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Harmon returned home on Monday morn ing after spending nine days with their sen and wife, Dr. and Mrs. Duane Harmon and three children of Moorhead, Minn esota. Dr. Harmon took their trailer to Pelican Lake and the two families enjoyed swimming, fishing and boating. Duane and his son Jeffrey accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Harmon to Lincoln to drive back another car. They returned to Minnesota on Tues day. Mrs. Lyle Choat and family of Naperville, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Parr Young and Lois Liv ingston of Nehawka were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Jewell and their houseguests, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Jewell and family of Liv ingston, New York. Mrs. Ross Kinton entertained several of her friends to a cof fee on Thursday morning. Mrs. Less Thorns and two children and Mrs, Harold Kear ney and children of Nehawka were Friday morning guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Van Horn and their houseguests, Mr. and Mrs. Horace May and Billy of Kingsburg Call. The Sew'n Sews met Wednes day evening at the home of Mrs. Richard Blckford. Mrs. James Stewart was presented with a farewell gift. The evening was spent in sewing and visiting. The Modern Teens 4-H Club held their Achievement day pro gram on Monday afternoon at the home of their leader, Mrs. Callahan, assistant leader, was present and the mothers of the girls were guests. The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance and the 4-H pledge. Jeannie Kunz read an article on Health; Shirley Upton read about the State 4-H Camp and the girls voted to give one half of their money from the song Mary Alice Wood read an article on clothes and the girls sang the two songs that were presented at the song contest, for which they won a purple. Ann Callahan gave a demon stration on putting In a zipper. Carol Nickels gave a demon stration on "Pressed Peanut Butter Cookies." Carol won a blue on this demonstation at the County Fair and will repre sent Cass County at the State Fair. Mary Alice, Ann, Leona Nichols, Susie Seeger and Shir ley Upton held a style revue with their skirts and blouses that were entered in the county fair. Hostesses at the meeting were Jeannie Kunz, Leona Nichols, and Dianne Ratliff. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Jameson and Mr. and Mrs. James Cook were Monday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook. Mrs. Robert Dennis entertain ed at a birthday party for four of her children who have birth days in August, Patty, Margie, Nolan and Lora. Fifteen child ren were present for the party and the afternoon was spent in playing games. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Rohr danz enjoyed a two week vaca tion trip to Boise, Idaho where they visited with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Hunt. Mrs. Henry Christensen was happily surprised when relatives came to the Christensen home for a basket supper; honoring her on her birthday anniversary. Those attending the supper were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ruhge of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Duwe and sons, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Rector and family, Mr. and Mrs. LaNell Patterson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Beins and family, and Mrs. I. L. Markland. The Brownie Girls met on Tuesday morning at the home of the leader, Mrs. Lewis Baker assisted by Mrs. Pat Wade. The girls gave the pledge of allegi ance and sang Brownie Song. The girls read stories they had written about "What I Did This Summer". Refreshments were served by Margie Zaloudek and Carolyn Bruns. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Cherry and daughters of Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cherry enjoyed a picnic dinner on Sun- day with Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Hill and family at a Park in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Burgen and Valerie of Denver, Colo rado spent Saturday night and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ed gar Burgen. Joining them for Sunday dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Qlark and Brenda of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Burgen or Ralston. Mr. Boyd sang, "I Love You Truly" at the celebration, a song that he had sung at their wedding 25 years ago. Other relatives took part in the program. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jameson and Sandra spent the weekend in Kearney with Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Stock and Judy. Sunday they all enjoyed a trip to Pio neer Village. Dr. Alice Martin and Mrs. were Tuesday night guests of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Jewell. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Holt were Sat urday evening guests at the Jewell home. Mr. and Mrs. Gor don Wlllcoxen, Helen Tyner and Mrs. John Mead were Saturday afternoon guests.
