Later the Boise visitors will leave for Silver Springs, Md., where they will be guests of Mrs. D. C. Gardner. On leaving Plattsmouth three months ago Miss Guthmann went first to Denver, Colo., and onto Santa Fe, N. M. to visit a nephew, Joe Guthmann. She visited in Farmington and Aztec, N. Mex., where she found the climate perfectly beautiful, and becoming very industrial ized. From Farmington she went to Gallup where she took a plane to Long Beach, Calif., visiting with Dr. and Mrs. Rogers and Mrs. Fred G. Egenberger. Mrs. Egenberger's health remains just about the same. She Is well known to Cass County residents. At Los Angeles Miss Guth mann visited with Mrs. Grace Goodchlld, a former Plattsmouth resident, and at Oakland, Calif, with the Paul Lempke family. Miss Guthmann visited in Boise, Idaho with relatives; was in Ontario, Ore. and enjoyed a fishing trip in the wilds of Idaho. The Plattsmouth lady enjoyed her trip immensely, but was happy to return to her home here. Christ Lutheran Ladies Aid Meets The Ladies Aid Sociey of Christ Lutheran Church met Aug. 26, in the church parlors. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. A. Lentz and Mrs. Phillip Hennings. After the business meeting devotions were read by Mrs. Herman Hennings. A musical program was select ed for the entertainment. Piano solos were played by Jon Fusselman, Elaine Stohl man, Donna Mayfield and Vo lene Alber; Mrs. Leonard Reinke sang a vocal selection accom panied by Miss Karyl Davis. A lunch was served by the hostesses. The next -meeting wll be held on Sept. 30, Mrs. Clarence Mel singer and Mrs. LaVerne Mei singer will be the hostesses. Theresa A. Smith To Wed Oct. 3 The approaching marriage is announced of Theresa A. Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tho mas Linhart of Plattsmouth and Donald O. Syverson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orning Syverson of Marshall, Minn. SSgt. Syverson is with the U. S. Air Force, stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. The bride elect is presently employed at the Plattsmouth Cleaners. The couple plans to be mar ried on Oct. 3. Pleasant Outing In Minnesota Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Smock and daughter, Tracy Ann, and Miss Janet Jacobs, have return ed from a most pleasant week spent at Shady Grove Resort on Rush Lake at Ottertail, Minn. While in Minnesota, they also drove to Lake Itasca, the head waters of the Mississippi River, and Itasca State Park, all of which was thoroughly enjoyed. Marriage Licenses John A. Kou bek and Daniel Norman Covert son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Cov ert Sr., of Plattsmouth were married Thursday evening at the First Christian church. The Rev. T. W. Taenzler solemnized the double ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a street-length melon-coJored dress with navy blue accessories. She car ried a bouquet 'of white crysan- themums with white lily of the valley. Attendants for, the couple were Ann Marilyn Wlnscot and Larry Gardner. A reception was held in the church parlors following .the ceremony. The couple is living In the Ruse apartments in Plattsmouth. The bride, a graduate of Plattsmouth high school, is em ployed at Central Electric and Gas Company in Plattsmouth. The bridegroom attended Platts mouth, high school, served four years in the Air Force and is employed by Omaha Public Power in Omaha. Starkjohns Home From Minnesota Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stark john returned home Sunday after spending some time at their cottage on Sanda's Beach in Henning, Minn. One of the highlights of their vacation was when their son Wm. T. and grandson Bill, John Harder of Papillion and Herchel Gaylord of Nebr. City and Henry went to Canada to fish in Gull Rock Lake and Red Lake. They report excellent fishing and the weather was perfect. They were in Canada a week, Wm. and son, Bill returned to Nebr. and the Starkjohns continued their stay at Sanda's Beach. They report that Charlie Peter sen and wife will be at their cottage until the middle of Oct. 4 -II News The 4-H Sewing Susies met at the home of Dorothy Lepert, with the meeting called to older by the president with eleven answering roll call. Offices elected for the coming year are president, Anita Glaze brook; vice president, Nancy Ramge; secreary, Vicky Lepert, news reporter, Pamela Williams and treasurer, Roberta Ramge. At the close of the buusiness meetng refreshments were serv ed by the hostess. Pamela Wil liams, news reporter. Iowa Parties Married Saturday while Judge J. H. Graves was engaged in watching the White Sox vs. Cleveland baseball game at his home he was called to the office in the city hall. He found Arvill E. Hillhouse and Mrs. Betty Brindle of Glen wood awaiting and the marriage vows were plighted before the Judge. Harry J. and Marie Droubough, also of Glenwood witnessed the marriage. Tlsikawka Mrs. F. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford O'Con nor and daughters were recent guests of the Claude O'Connor Jr. family at Fairbury. Clau dia O'Connor returned here with them to spend several days. Mr. and Mrs. Claude O'Connor Jr. and Claude O'Connor Sr. were supper guests Thursday at the Clifford O'Connor home and Claudia returned home with, her parents. Mrs. Amelia Balfour, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Redden and fam ily and Henry Ross-attended the 5th annual Balfour reunion pic nic at Steinhart Park Sunday. The oldest person present was James Balfour of Nebraska Ci ty who is 84, the youngest was Sharon Jacobson, a great-granddaughter of James Balfour. Thei towns represented were Covina, Calif., Omaha, Otoe, Council Bluffs, Shubert, Auburn, Dun bar, Union, Columbus, Nehawka, Nebraska City and Manhattan, Kan. RESTING Montorie, France To cele brate her 100th birthday anniver sary, Mme. Picot Briard told friends that she had retired from housework. Then she ex plained: "I'm doing it to please my doctor. Tuesday Night Cub The Tuesday Night Club met at the home of Myrna Larsen Aug. 18 with Norma Nichols as co-hostess. Fourteen members were preent with Fern Joch lm and Hazel Doran as guests. Next meeting will be potpon ed one week to Sept. 22, at the home of Laverne Braack. Tomorrow's Producers The members of the Tomor rows Producers 4-H Club were well represented with their ex hibits at the Cass County Fair. Mrs. Irus Gerdes and daugh ters Katherine and Julie and Jeannine Habel were in Oma ha Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Irus Gerdes and family visited Friday at the Earl Payton home in Platts -mouth. They also visited with Mrs. Gerdes's three aunt, Leo nard Miller and Miss Chloe Ful lerton, both of Buffalo, Mo., and Mr. and Mr, Delmar Stone of Oklahoma City, Okla. Sunday visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gardner Jr. and family of Papillion. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Koop have returned home after a cou ple weeks vacation spent in Yellowstone Park. They were there when the earthquake hit and the cabin they were in was shaken but they were not harm ed. They sent cards home the next day but somehow the cards were delayed because the Koops got home before the cards ar rived. Matzke suffered a stroke a week ago Friday and last Thursday was taken to the hospital for further treatment and observation. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Klemmc and family vacationed last week in Colorado, visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stock entertained seventy some friends and relatives on Wednesday eve ning in honor of their 25th wed ding anniversary, at the church parlors. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Elseman have as their guests the latter part of the week, Mrs. Elseman's sister and family from Wiscon sin. Mr. and Mrs. Don E. Borne meier and family returned the first of the week from Hamlet, Nebraska where they have been visiting Mrs. Bornemelr's par ents and other relatives.
