4 Weeping Water Jews Mm. Edward Van Horn Phone 252-W Then general meeting of the Christian Women's Fellowship was held on Thursday afternoon in the church . parlors. Mrs. Henry Knaup acted as president and opened the meeting with a thought for the day. Mrs. Leroy Zessin and Mis. Lynnn Rothe gave group reports. Mrs. Rothe lias been appointed librarian for the coming year and a number of new books have been pur chased for reading. Mrs. Charles Freeman gave an Inspirational devotional service on the topic, "Not One Soul Should Perish." Mrs. Ed. Free man and Mrs. Ai Bickford read the scripture. The devotions closed with sentence prayers. Mrs. Mabel Breckenrldge gave the missionary lesson on the same topic, assisted by several of the members. The Fall Round up for Christian Women's Fel lowship will be held September 14 at the Christian church in Plattsmouth. The Senior Circle will meet September 3 with Mrs. Fred Linville and Mrs. Victor I'lunkett, Jr as hostes-es and the Junior Clirele will be with Mrs. Leon Bond. The general meeting will be held September 17th with a birthday luncheon with the Senior Circle in charge. Hos tesses for this meeting were Mrs. Stanley Sehroeder, Mrs. Ai Bick ford and Mrs. Alton Sterling. Relatives present at the home of Mrs. Hattle Sperry in honor of her 82nd birthday, August 18th, were Mr. and Mrs. Steele Lockhart and Mr.. Pearl Griffey of Parnell, Missouri and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Currier of Leadville, Colorado. The American Legion Auxil iary met Tuesday evening in the Legion Hall with twelve members present. I Mrs. Wipf announced that the Auxiliary had received first prize on the float at the Cass County Fair. The Red Cross Blood mobile was in Weeping Wat er on Monday, August 24th from noon until 6 p.m. The quota for Weeping Water is 75 pints. The Bloodmobile is sponsored by the Auxiliary. Mrs. Richard Bickford won the door prize. The members had re freshments at the City Cafe' at the close of the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baker, Sr. enjoyed a vacation trip to Minneapolis. Minnesota where they were guests of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Hanson and family. She left Lincoln for Scottsblutf to join Miss Jacl Daugherty and the two ladies left for Anaheim, California where they will tearh school this fall. They were join ed in Cheyenne, Wyoming by MKs Susan Stone who will also teach in California at Santa Ana, Mrs. Robert Ackley and Mrs. Anton Nielsen were hostesses lor a pink and blue shower honoring Mrs. Leonard Wihelm of Lincoln, at the Nielsen home. The members of the Christian church held a farewell party for Mr. and Mrs. James Stewart and Jenefer Monday evening in the church parlors. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart will leave the last of the month for Anaheim, California where Mr. Stewart will teach in a junior high school there. Sev eral poems on Friendship were read. Mrs. Maurice Hammons played hymns on the piano to be guessed by the guests, divided into two groups. A fellowship sing was led by Rev. Victor Schwarz. Cyrus Livingston pre sented Mr. and Mrs. Stewart a gift from the church. Cookies and a drink were served for re freshments. Mr. and Mrs. William Buskirk, Sheryl and Tommy of San Ra faeal, California are visiting for three weeks with Mrs. Buskirk's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ake son. Mrs. Van Horn and girls later called on Mrs. Roy Conley. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rothe pur chased the old Congregational Church parsonage. They are tearing it down and will build a home with the lumber. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Friesel and fam ily have moved into the Mark land rental property. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Wade and boys have moved to Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. David Nielsen have moved into their home. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Hale and daugh ter purchased the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Starr and fam ily and will make their home in the basement and will rent the upstairs to Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Dappen and family, the mus ic instructor at the Weeping Wa ter school. Mr. and Mrs. Starr and family will move to Ral ston. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Boardman have moved into the Malstead apartments. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wildrickj of Louisville and Mary Tigner Mrs. Henry Mrs. John Marquardt is a sur gery patient at Rochester, Minn. The Congregational Church voted Sunday to continue the early summer service during September. The Church and Sun day School will take a two-week vacation Aug. 30 and Sept. 6. Calvin Carsten attended a lay men's meeting at Crete Sun -day. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mar -quardt held open house at their new home Sunday with 150 sign ing the guest book. A feature of their new home is electric heating. They will move in this week. Mrs. Clyde Bogard and Mrs. John Kunz and two grandchil dren are on vacation this week. Mr. and Mrs. Hans Jensen vis ited relatives at St. Paul, Neb., and helped Mr. Chris Christen- sen observe his 98th birthday. Mrs. Mary Ulspberger of Cook has been a houseguest of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Straub. Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Lempka, St. Mary's, were dinner guests Sunday. Mr. John Lingle Jr. received word of the sudden death of her father, Fred Lockman Fri day at his home. Mr. Lochman who was a resident of Otoe had been in business there and had been in ill health the past year. His wife, the former Dorothy Hillman and daughter, Mrs. De lores Lingle survive along with a grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ruhge announce birth of a son Aug. 20 at Syracuse Hospital. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. August Brinkhoff, Otoe. Patern al grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ruhge, Avoca, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Maude Ruhge, Avoca. Kathryn Rose Leefers, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lee fers was a graduate of Bryan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Sunday in a class of 26. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyer of Avoca announce the engage -ment of their daughter Joseph ine Erna to LeRoy Fricke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Fric ke, Lincoln. Their plans are for an October wedding. Sharon Stub bendick attended a Red Cross Camp at Columbus last week. Beverly Rippe accompanied the Vernon Dettmer family to her home at McPhersen, Kan. Lynn Hoback and Richard, Calvin Carsten and Steve return ed Wednesday from fishing in Minnesota. The Congregational Women's Fellowship had a general clean up at the church Tuesday. The Modern Teens 4-H Club, which won a purple ribbon at the County Fair in the song con test, will compete in the State Fair Contest Sept. 5. He came to attend the funeral of a sister in Dawn, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. John Chandler and Bar -bara were guests for supper on Friday at the home of Mr. Chan dler's sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dav id Martin of Denton and visited Mr. McGill. Saturday Mr. Mc Gill was an overnight guest of the Chandlers and attended the Ehlers-Meyer wedding at Weep ing Water with the Chandlers. Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Yost, Connie and Dorothy and Mrs. Matt Paber and Terry Lynn of Lincoln, Mrs. David Martin of Denton were guests or the day of the Chandlers. Mr. McGill returned to Lincoln with them and left for his home by plant; Wednesday.
