Sand Phone 2708 JMsiei:::::::: Mrs. Ellis Lacy presented a program on The Local Church Faith through Works Wednes day when the WSCS met at the church. , Mrs. Lacy discussed the top ic with a panel, Mmes. Will Ost, Ona Kunkel and Harvey Bark hurst. They brought out the fact that through the church organ ization and all who work with the church, the community and the world receive the benefits of their works. Mrs. Gilbert Ed monds gave devotions. Mrs. Emma Nutzman presid ed. Plans were made for the year, also plans for a teacher's reception Sept. 4. Mrs. Oren Pol lard, chairman, distributed the yearbooks. Mrs. Nutzman at tended Mission School at Wes leyan in Lincoln. Hostesses were Mmes. Ous Neumelster, Amelia Balfour and junma muzman. tsiner BaiK hurst of Lincoln was a guest. American Legion Auxiliary Mrs. Jake Stapert presided at the meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Tuesday af ternoon at the auditorium. Mrs. Arthur Johnson read a paper on VJ Day which gave the orig in and results of the bombings by Japan. Debbie Spear and Kay Nutzman sang. The members voted to serve the 25th anniversary luncheon of, the Junior Woman's Club in the spring. Membership cards have arrived and dues are In order now. Mmes George Kime and Gil bert Kime advanced the colors. Hostesses were Mrs. Sadie Sh rader and Mrs. Gene Fitch Nehawka Flower Club Mrs. Elmer Stoll presented a program on Wild Flower Bloom ing in August Wednesday eve ning when the Nehawka Flower Club met ,with Evelyn Wolph. Mrs.' Stoll opened lfer program with Ten Wise Wishes by the late W. Reid Hunt. She display ed wild flowers. Mrs. Sadie Sh rader showed a group of flow ers from her jiffy Planter. Mrs. Stoll gave a combination of In gredients to use in starting plant so they do not "damp off." Roll call was My Interest in the Fairs. Mrs. Martin Rose read an article on the origin of the tulip. Plans were completed for the annual flower show Sept. 13, 2 to 5 p.m. at the auditorium. En tries are welcome from the com munity and nearby towns. The theme is Melody in Flowers. Mrs. Floyd Joerger, Mrs. Gus Ncumoister and. Mrs. Emma Nutzman are the committee to plan the show. Mrs. Joerger an nounced the state flower show date in Lincoln Is Oct. 13 at the First Federal Savings and Loan building. Guests were Mrs. Tillie Mark land, Mrs. Emily Olive, Weeping Water and Miss Minnie Bischof, Nebraska City. In the dairy show Monday at Seward, the Triple T Dairy Club won many honors. Besides being chosen Queen, Marilyn Pollard received two blues and two reds on Holsteins; Margaret and Richard Loren sen both received a blue and a red on Guernseys; Dennis Goch enour a red on Guernsey; Lar ry Bond, a blue on Holstein; Richard Hohman, a red on Hol stein, and Phyllis Hohman, a white on Holstein. Malcolm Pollard Is the lead er and Otis Bond, the assistant. Marty Hauberg of Osceola Is a guest of Beverly and Neil Bal four. Mr. and Mrs. Louie Chris topherson, Mr. and Mrs. George Kenyon, Mary, Donald and Charles, all of Holman, Wis., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Stapert and Sandra. All attended the rodeo at Sid ney, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Houptman and granddaughter, Jean Ful op of Dayton, Ohio, were guests Monday and Tuesday of Mrs. Fred Beatty. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Johnson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Guthals and Marcia of Union returned home Saturday from a week's vacation to the Royal Oaks at Alexandria, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kreck low and family of Preston, Kan. were weekend guests of the El lis Lacy family. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Royal were guests of the Leslie Behrns family. Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Sand spent several days with their daugh ter Mrs. Ernest Nabity and fam ily at Chapman. Miss Minnie Bischof of Nebraska City, Mary Jo and Gary Zech of Douglas accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Ander son and Jeffrey spent Friday and Saturday with the Robert Romans family at Manhattan, Kan. Rickey. Kurt and Signe Romans returned home with them for a week. Signe went to Plattsmouth to visit the En no Ahrens family. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Briley and family went to Stanton, Iowa, to join a family reunion at the Elvin Arterburn home, complimenting Mr. Briley's bro ther, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bri ley, Connie and Kathy of Eu gene, Ore. The Ernest Briley family and Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Briley and Larry, also of Eugene, were guests the first of the week at the Willard Bri ley home. Mr. and Mrs. Henning John son and Mr. and Mrs. Tom John son and Lynette of Syracuse were dinner guests Sunday of the Dick Johnsons. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meising er, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Gan semer, Murray; Mr. and Mrs. Randall Switzer and Nancy, Mr. and Mrs. Dugan Gregg and sons picnicked and fished on the Mis souri River. In the evening, they picnicked at the Randall Switzer home. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Hansen and family returned home Tuesday evening from an eight-day va cation. They visited the Gavins Point and Ft. Randall Dams, Yankton, S. D., the Black Hills and at Burwell were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Peters and family; at Loup City they visited the Howard Hansen fam ily and were also guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Opp. COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS Office of County Commissioners Cass County, Plattsmouth, Nebr.' Minutes of the last session ap proved and the following busi ners was transacted in regular form: Motion was made by Borne meier and seconded by Todd au thorizing the County Surveyor to let Bids on a new Panel Truck for the Surveyor's use. Motion carried. A delegation from Rock Bluff met with the Board concerning the repair and spot rocking of the Rock Bluff Road, from Platt?mouth thru Rock Bluff and the Rock Bluff School road. Motion was made by Borne meier and seconded by Todd that the County enter into contract with the Missouri-Pacific Rail road for, dirt removal at the crossing near Manley, Nebraska. Motion carried. Agreement sign ed. . The County Treasurer filed a report of the disposition made on the distress warrants issued in 1958. Total amount 'ssued $15,531.65. Warrants returnsd uncollected $6,343.86. Motion was made by Todd and seconded by Bornemeier that the County purchase a Lowboy, pur chase price $1,950.00. to be paid 'in monthly payments of 195.00 per month for 10 oqual pay ments. Motion carried and used Lcwbov was purchased from the Nebraska Tractor & Equipment Co. of Omaha, Nebr. The Board signed a Resolu tion approving vhe substitution of securities for the Corn Grow ers State Bank of Murdock, Ne braska. M. with the following present: Mayor Orant Roberts, Council men L. W.' Moore. A. W. Hueb ner, Wm. G. Highficld, C. W. Rhylander, City Clerk Albert Olson. Absent: none. A petition signed by Maurice V. Sheil and nine others was presented for the creation of a Street Improvement District for the improvement of the follow ing described streets by paving: FOURTEENTH STREET from the North property line of Four th Avenue, also known as Rock Street, to the North property line of Highland drive; HIGH LAND DRIVE from the East pro perty line of Fourteenth Street to the West property line of Fifteenth Street in the City of Plattsmouth, together with all included Intersections. The petition having been ac cepted and Ordinance No. 983 entitled "AN ORDINANCE CREATING STREET IMPROVE MENT DISTRICT NO. 144 IN THE CITY OF PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA: DEFINING THE BOUNDARIES THEREOF AND PROVIDING FOR IMPROVE MENT OF THE STREETS DES CRIBED HEREIN BY PAVING AND SUCH OTHER WORK AS MAY BE INCIDENTAL THERE TO", was passed under suspen sion of rules. Pursuant to Invitation for bids on tires for the Road Grader of the Street Dept. five bids were received and after tabulation of bids, motion carried to accept the bid of Cloidt Service for 2-1000-24 8ply tires $97.70 each and 1-700-2 lOply tires $58.42.
