City Council Minutes Meeting of July 20, 1959 Council Chambers City Hall City Council met in special session at 7:30 P. M. at the call of the Mayor with the follow ing present: Mayor Grant Ro berts, Councilmen L. W. Moore, A. W. Huebner, Wm. G. High field, C. W. Rhylander, City Clerk Albert Olson. Absent: none. The Mayor stated the purpose of the meeting was for receiving the plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the construc tion of street improvements In Street Improvement Districts Nos. 136, 137, 138. 140, 141, 142 & 143 as prepared by Henningson, Durham & Richardson. Inc., Special Engineers employed by the City and to take such ac tion as the Council may deem advisable, and to transact any other business that may come before the City Council. The Mayor stated the first order of business would be to consider the bids on a street sweeper that were laid over from the July 13th meeting. After dis cussion, motion carried that if the Council does buy a sweeper that a new one be purchased, and to meet at 5:30 o'clock P.M. on July 21, 1959 to make final deci sion on the purchase of a street sweeper. Mr. Kenneth Wickersham re presenting Henningson, Durham & Richardson, Inc. was present and submitted plans and specifi cations and estimate of cost for the construction of street im provements in Street Improve ment Districts Nos. 136, 137, 138, 140, 141. 142 & 143. After discus sion motion carried that same be accepted and approved by the City Council and that Notice to Bidders be oublished to receive and open bids at special meeting to be held August 11th, 1959 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Motion carried that applica tion of Marion Endelicato for a Class C liquor license for place of business to be known as Win terset Inn located at Oak Street and Sunset Ave., be referred to the License Committee and that date of hearing be set for August 10th, 1959 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. and that notice of same be published. There being no further busi ness, motion carried to recess and meet at 5:30 o'clock P.M. July 21. 1959. Frady and seven others was read requesting that the necessary action be taken to vacate that part of 13th Street from 4th Ave. to 5th Ave. This was referred to the Council as a whole to make an inspection of the site. The Streets, Alleys and Brid ges Committee submitted a ta bulation of the bids as received on a street sweeper and on the specifications of the various ma chines as bid, and after con siderable discussion it was mov ed by Rhylander that the Coun cil hold the bids until the reg ular meeting Monday, July 27th, 1959 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in order that all of the Councilmen may review the machines in ques tion. M. with the following present: Mayor Grant Roberts, Councilmen L. W. Moore, A. W. Huebner, Wm. G. Highgfield, C. W. Rhylander, City Clerk Albert Olson. Absent: none. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Pursuant to published notice for calls for bids for a street sweeper, the following bids were on file: Highway Equipment & Supply Co. $8,293.00, $11,370. 00 both new, $2,750.00, $2,750.00 both used. D. D. and S. Equip ment Co. $9,976.00, Interstate Machinery & Supply Co. New $9, 455.00, used - $3,500.00, Cons truction Service Equipment Co. $8,995.00. Motion carried that 10 days be taken to go over speci fications before making a decis ion. Mr. Andrew Epperson was pre sent and submitted a plat of Ideal Heights, being a replat of Lot 17 in SE'4 SE'4 of Sec. 24. T .12 N, R. 13 E. Motion carried that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to approve and execute the plat. Paul Fauquet, Flood Control Adm. was present and stated the dedication ceremony at Dam 10A on the Eden property west of town will be held on July 31st at 5:30 o'clock P.M. Motion carried that the Audit report of the Board of Public Works for the year ending April 30, 1959 be accepted and placed on file. An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE FOR THE REGU LATION OF BINGO IN THE CITY OF PLATTSMOUTH, NE BRASKA: TO PROVIDE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS TO CONDUCT BINGO GAMES, TO REQUIRE REPORTS AND TO IMPOSE A TAX ON THE GROSS PROCEEDS OF BINGO GAMES; TO PROVIDE A PEN ALTY FOR VIOLATORS; TO PROVIDE FOR THE DIVISION OF SUCH TAX AND TO RE PEAL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH." was introduced and designated as Ordinance No. 978, same was passed under suspension of rules. The things have been falling in his garden and on his house at a maddeningly increasing rate. Ten so far have dropped in. Tanaka's home lies at the bottom of an S-turn on a high way. A policeman was survey ing the damage done by one motorcycle when another whiz zed in. scoring a near miss. Ear lier seven plopped into Tanaka's yard within an hour.
