Graves had a full day Tuesday in his court as some ten of the extra gang here to assist in laying steel rails on the Burlington were present in court. The group had staged a little celebration Monday night that left them badly bent financially after going through the mill of justice. The docket disclosed the record: Howard W. Browning, ftosemont, Calif., $10 and costs, or $14; Ira W. Jones, Topeka. Kansas, $14; Walter K. Pike, Boston, Ky., $14; John Sparrott, St. Joseph, Mo., $14; John A. Jordan Jr. Techamh, Wash., $14; Gilbert Stranek, Tacoma, Wash., $14; Francis C. Gibbs, Louisville, Ky., $14; Harry M. Smith, Every where, $14. Most of the group were able to pay the fines and were released. Other cases filed were: Glen R. Slaack, running red light, hearing set for July 20. Jay H. Speck, speeding, plea of guilty, $25 and costs, total $29. 4-II NEWS Sewing Suzies 4-H Club met at Garfield Park with Roberta Ramge, president, presiding. One member, Dianne Wiles was absent. We toured the Plattsmouth State Bank and enjoyed the vis it very much. We also made a purchase at a local store. Two guests, Betty Halferty and Judy Garwatcr were pre sent. Mrs. Williams was hostesses to refreshments. The Woodpecker Club met with Grant Thumann where they had their business meeting and repeated the 4-H pledge. Retiuiem mass services at 10: 30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick church Manley. Father Valery Burr in charge. Burial at St. Patrick's cemetery. Friends may view the remains at the funeral home as the cas ket will not be open at the church. Survivors are the daughter, Anna Marie Morin, Marquette, Mich.; son, Walter William Mockenhaupt of Manley and foster son, Arthur W. Mocken haupt of Santa Rosa, Calif. Also nine grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Rauth, Man- ley; Mrs. Elizabeth Cowan of Piere, S. D.; and sister M. Alexia, O. P., Omaha and Mrs. Agnes E. Huse, Dakota City, Nebr. Also two brothers, Leonard H. Tighe, Omaha and Paul A. Tighe of Homer, Nebr. Fusselman Funeral Home of Louisville in charge of arrange ments. Ex-Avoca Resident Dies at Nebraska City Mrs. Clara Wilhelmina Green rod, 70, native and longtime resident of Avoca, died Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, a short prayer ser vice at the Porter-Lett Chapel by Rev. J. E. Aeschbacher, at Nebraska City, and services la ter at the Congregational church at Avoca. Burial was in Avoca cemetery. Burn Oct. 30, 1888, near Av oca, she lived near Avoca until 1944 when she moved to Nebras ka City. She was married to Frank Greenrod Dec. 11, 1907. Surviving are the husband and the following children: Mrs. Fred Ruhge of Avoca; W. L. Green rod, Nebraska City; Harold Greenrod, Cleveland, Ohio; Ri chard Greenrod, Denver; Mrs. Donald Gude, Elgin, 111.; bro ther Fred Carsten, Avoca. A daughter. Ellen Marie, died at the age of six. Mrs. Greenrod was a member of the Lutheran Church, also a former member of the Reb ekah Lodge. Death of Former Resident Here Funeral services for Joseph ine Kuhney, 72, of 3869 N. Char lotte Ave., San Gabriel, Calif., were conducted Tuesday at Rain bow Chapel in San Gabriel with the Rev. Ernest D. Sillers offic iating. Burial was in Rose Hills Memorial Park. Mrs. Kuhney was born in Aus tria and died Saturday in a Los Angeles hospital. She is surviv ed by her husband, Charles of the home address; a daughter, Leona Hardy of Lemcn Grove; two sons, Earl C. of the home address and Lee P. of San Gab riel and three grandchildren. ' Frank Godwin, 53, native of Plattsmouth, was found dead In his bed at the family home at Fallon, Nev., early Wednesday morning, word received from his wife states. Mr. Godwin had been in very good health while here on a visit to relatives in June and the mes sage of his death came as a great shock to the relatives and friends in this city and vicinity. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Godwin and was born in Plattsmouth Sept. 2, 19 05. Here, he spent his younger years and was graduated from Plattsmouth High in the class of 1925. Following his gradua tion he attended the Peru State Teachers College to receive his degree. Frank was a great participant in high school sports and on graduating from Peru entered on a career of coaching and teaching at which he was most successful. He spent the greater part of his school activities In Nevada and taught there 25 years. At the time of his death he was super intendent of schools at Fallon. He was married in Platts mouth some 25 years ago to Helen Libershal, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John A. Lib ershal, who survives. Other survivors Include bro thers, Ralph, Omaha, Albert, Plattsmouth; sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Lewis and Mrs. Ruth Buffing ton, Murray. Funeral services will be held Saturday at Ross-Burk Funeral Home at Reno, Nev.. with bur-' lal at the cemetery at that place. Death Of Lonnic -C. Mead, Former -Union Resident ; Lonnie Overton Mead, 73, for-' Z mer resident of the Union com munity, died Monday at his I home in Nebraska City where he -has resided since 1949. He was born April 30, 1886, at -Fairplay, Mo., son of Mr. and " Mrs. James ,0. Meade. He mar- ried Nettie Wakefield at Fair play, Mo., in 1903. She died in Z St. Joseph, Mo., October 13, 1945. Mr. Meade was a resident of " the Union community from 1908 . -to 1940, then at Rosedale, Mo., until 1942. Z He married Mary Scott in -April 1949. Z He is survived by two children, Harry H. Mead of Fremont and Z Mrs. Nellie Hathaway at Van Nuys, Calif. Z Two children, William and -Mrs. Jessie Porter preceded their. Z father. - - Also surviving are a brother, " Z Robert, Bolivar, Mo.; sisters, -Mrs. Chuck Claridge, Amster- 2 dam, Mo.; Mrs. Harry Gunn, Z Kansas City, Mo.; eight grand- ; children and 13 great grand-.. children. Half brothers surviving are Magnus, Obie, Floyd, Lewis, Er nest and Olin Mead and a half sister, Mrs. Robert Smith. Funeral services were held at the Peterson mortuary, Nebras ka City Thursday. Rev. D. H. Mc Millian, officiating. Burial was at the Cowles Hill cemetery in Wyoming, Otoe county.
