They were dinner guests VACATION BIBLE School of Southern Baptist Mission held recently by the Plattsmouth Baptist Mission was a rewardins ex perience for all who participated. The school was the first con ducted by the mission and far exceeded the expectation with a total enrollment of 52 children and workers. The school offered a variety of activities and Bible study to children ranging from nursery through intermediate ages. Rev. E. J. Hawn is the pastor. Saturday of Mr. old Schliefert. Henry Doerman returned home Saturday from Humboldt hospi tal where he was confined with pneumonia for a week. Virgil Miller of Weeping Wa ter was a Sunday dinner guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Grell and sons. Sunday evening callers at the George Bauers home were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stander and Gary and Ralph Meisinger. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Grell and sons were Saturday evening callers at the Amos Beck home and enjoyed the fireworks dis play at the South Bend Lakes. Wednesday evening callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Aus tin Finlay and Howard were Mr", and Mrs. Ben Howard of Green wood and Francis Green of Lou isville. The Happy Helpers 4-H Club enjoyed a swim and wiener roast at Steinhart Park in Ne braska City Wednesday evening. The wiener roast was also for the families of the 4-H'ers. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stander entertained at a picnic supper at their farm home for Mr. and Mrs. Meno Shreurs, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Leeser and family, Mrs. George Dings and children and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Thal ler and Carol all of Lincoln. Miss Diane Stander returned home with the Thallers to spend a week with Carol Thaller in Lin coln. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mather returned home Tuesday of last week from a three weeks vaca tion to California. Mrs. James Vaughn of Oma ha arrived Wednesday to spend a few days at the Leonard Vau ghn home. She had been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ju lius Hanseling and family of Seward and they brought her to the Vaughns'. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ward and family of Central Point, Ore., are visiting at the homes of his sisters and brother, the E. A. Ingrams, F. H. Brunsons and the Jack Wards. Gale Smith, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Smith, was taken to Children's Memor ial Hospital in Omaha Friday evening suffering from a sinus infection. Band rehearsals began Thurs day and will last for six weeks. All beginning students who star ted during the school year are to come to practice at 7 p.m. and those in the senior band report at 8 p.m. Senior Band will pre sent a concert at the end of the summer rehearsals. Melvin Schliefert was in Clark son hospital last week for treat m?nt. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Engelke meier were guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Paneitz and sons in Red Oak, Iowa. They helped their little grandson. Danny Paneitz, cele brate his 2nd birthday. Mrs. Clement Conrad and chil dren visited with Mrs. Dorothv Shrader and Jack Sunday and at tended church with them. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mather left Thursday for a few days vaca tion at Estes Park, Colorado. Cindy Joy stayed with her grand mother, Mrs. Evalina Hein in Omaha, until their return. Mrs. Mose Barr has been very ill at Ebeler Rest Home in Elni wood. The baby weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces and has been named Pamela Jean. Mrs. Woodman was formerly Norma Jean Ahl of Louisville. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hon of Louis ville and Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Woodman of Omaha. Great -grandparents are E. N. Ahl of Louisville and Mrs. Effie Mas ters of Kansas City, Mo. This is the second great-grandchild of both Mr. Ahl and Mis. Masters. All six living children and 16 of 18 grandchildren were present for the reunion. A good time was had despite the rainy weather and a good many pictures were taken, including movies. Clifford Stander entered the Bryan Mem orial Hospital in Lincoln the fol lowing morning for observation and check-up and was released Thursday. Frank Reister and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Puis and sons of Man ley enjoyed a picnic supper on Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Roe bor and family near Murdock. It celebrated the birthday of Kenneth Roebor. Mr. Reister and the Earl Puis family watch ed the fireworks display at Weep lng Water that evening while the Roebers visited with Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Roeber in Ash land. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Williams and family of Riverdale, Md., houseguests at the Elwin Isaac home in Manley, left Saturday for their home. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Beck were dinner guests at the Russ ell Coonts home near Springfield and supper guests at the Ela Beck home near Wabash.
