I i Weeping Water News Mrs. Edward Van Horn Phon 252-W The Junior Circle of the Chris tian Women's Fellowship met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. James Stewart with a good attendance. Mrs. Maurice Hammons, chairman, opened the meetlns with pray er. Mrs. Edward Van Horn pre sented the devotions on Open Your Eyes to See God in Change. Mrs. Stewart assisted with the Bible reading. Mrs. John Hammons gave the mis sionary lesson on The Churches That Work In Town and Coun try. Mrs. Lynn Rothe and Mrs. William Klemme and Mrs. Ham mons presented a playlet on this subject. Plans were made for the coming year. The group will meet Aug. 6 with Mrs. Stanley Schroeder. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Horn and Johnnie visited Mrs. Carl Nickels at St. Mary's hos pital in Nebraska City Thurs day evening. Mrs. Nickels was feeling a little better at his writ ing. The Van Horns attended the celebration in Avoca later in the evening. Dr. and Mrs. Duane Harmon and family left for their home In Moorhead, Minn., after visit ing In Weeping Water with Dr. Harmon's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Harmon and with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Bro kaw In Lincoln. The three Har mon children stayed an extra day and night with the Harmons. They were all guests at a seven o'clock dinner at the Brokaw home In Lincoln. The Duane Harmon family had completed a 6,000 mile trailer trip through .the Black Hills, the Rockies, New Mexico, Old Mexico, Tex as and Oklahoma the past three weeks. Dr. Harmon goes to Peace Gardens, near the Canad ian border to teach in a music camp which is patterned after the one at Interlochen, Mich. The rest of the summer, Dr. Har mon will teach In the Moorhead State Teachers College where he Is head of the music depart ment. Mrs. Hazel Deerlng of Phoen ix visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Keckler. Mrs. Fred Klep ser entertained at a luncheon and an afternoon at bridge. The guests were Mrs. Keckler, Mrs. Deerlng and Mrs. H. C. Wilkin son. Susan Hobson, daughter of Mrs. R. P. Hobson, received her master's degree in education at the 68th commencement of Cou cher College at Baltimore, Md. Miss Hobson received her BA degree in '58 from Pomona Col lege In California where she majored in sociology. Mrs. Hob son went to Maryland to atend the graduation. Mrs. Hobson and Susan took a sightseeing trip a round Washington, D. C, and visited relatives and friends en route home. Mrs. Gordon Heneger entered Clarkson Hospital in Omaha on Monday afternoon for observa tion. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kirchhoff and girls and Charles Caleu teria of Lincoln were Monday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hy Klrchoff. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wood of York visited with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Day, Mr. and Mrs. Char les Gibson Monday and with oth er friends in Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Up ton and family and Mrs. John Upton spent Sunday at the Got tula home. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Schroe der visited on Tuesday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Horn. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rothe and three boys attended the Family Camp Reunion of the Christian Churches at Fullerton from Fri day to Sunday evening. Famil ies who had attended family camp at Lexington in previous years attended the reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Terry of Lincoln called on Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Patton and family Sunday morning. Victor Schwarz, pastor of the Weeping Water Christian church showed two films Sunday eve ning at the church entitled Mon ganga and David Livingstone. Both told the story of missions at work in Africa. There was a good attendance to see the films. Afterward a fellowship hour was held In the church parlors. The Sunny Hill Aid Society held a picnic supper Sunday eve ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Nielsen with about 30 attending. Mr. and Mrs. Ma- rion Manshot of Omaha were ex tra guests. The August meeting will be with Mrs. Ernest Norris of Avoca. The boys have been cleaning up around the cabin and plan to fix up the interior. Mrs. Harry Potts entertained at a pinochle foursome Wednes day afternoon. The ladies attend ing were Mrs. Wilson Bickford, Mrs. L. E. Johnson and Mrs. Byron Baker. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Joyce and Mrs. James Kivett and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jameson and fam ily attended the wedding Sunday at Ralston of Sharon Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mel vln Johnson of Ralston, and Bernard Bitters. Jerry Joyce and her brother, Richard John son, were ushers. Bill Jameson and Joyce Johnson were the at tendants for the wedding. Kunkel vis ited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. John Boomer and son at St. Louis, Mo. Mrs. Stanley Miller Jr. under went surgery at the Memorial hospital in Syracuse. Mrs. Rob ert Renner and Betty Hermann visited Mrs. Miller in the hospi tal. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Stratton and boys and Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Stratton and Monty were Monday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stratton. The Busy Bees 4-H Club met at the home of Mary Louise Det mer. Roll call was answered by naming a fabric. Sewing and things to be done were discuss ed. Hostesses were Margaret Lorensen and Beverly Finley. The girls will meet again on July 11. The Valley View Hustlers had their meeting at the home of Susan and Clark Steckley with all members present. Mr. Steck ley demonstrated fitting a lamb for the Fair. The next meeting will be July 26 at the home of Charleen and Wayne Thoren.
