Mrs. Mel vln Miller took her car full of friends of Mrs. Grace Copple to Alvo and drove over to see her. Going were Edna Miller, Emily Gondales. Edna Fleisch man, Daisy Moore and Ruth Manning. They tock refresh ments along. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Gonzales and Mrs. Emilv Gonzales drove to Cret eSunday to visit the John Weilaee family. Mrs. Weil age Is the former Ruby Baker and a cousin of Clark Gonzales. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Buell re turned Thursday night from a trip to Silver Spring, Md., to visit their son and family, the Noble Buells. The special oc casion was the hieh school grad uation of their grandson, Brad ford. They also took a trip to New Jersey to see a granddau ghter. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Miller en tertained for Sunday dinner the group known as the Owls. They are Howard Capwells of Lin coln, Mel Millers, Fred Pratts, Harry Arnolds. Grace Blessing and Richard Blessing. Mrs. Laura Hollenbeck Is pro gressing satisfactorily in the Bryan Hospital, Lincoln, follow ing a relapse. Her condition is much better now. Mrs. Bertha Ostertag is still recuperating at the Ebeler Nur sing Home where she went fol lowing a fall in her home some time ago. June 21. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Bornemeier drove to Hastings to visit their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bornemeier, Tommy, Barbara and Jon. Mrs. Nellie Sams Shoaf of Hot Springs. Ark., visited a week here with old friends as house ' guest at the Blanche Kuehn home. She left Monday to visit a month with her sister at La Noma Beach. Mrs. Jennie Sams Gains. Mrs. Jerry Lyle and Debra arrived from Rockmart. Ga., Tuesday to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herold Krecklow. As her husband. Jerrv Lvle. is in Guam, her stay here is in definite. Dale Krecklow underwent ma. Jor surgery on Thursday at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, for heart condition. His mother stayed with him from Thursday until Saturday and reports that Dale is getting along fine. While in Omaha. Mrs. Krecklow stay ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs Milo Cannon, formerly Else man. Nellie Neely Phelan of Lin coln writes from Memphis. Tejin., where she is visiting her daughter. Yleen and fam ily, Dr. and Mrs. Byron Brown, who announce the arrival of a new daughter, Susan Marie on June 12. Mrs. Phelan also vis ited her sister, Laura Holder ness at St. Louis who is a Red Cross worker, there. Dr. and Mrs. Brown have 2 bovs and another eirl also. June 23. Mrs. Frank Lorenz was vis iting relatives In Omaha and is now visiting Mr. and Mrs. Fay McClellan (Catherine Lor enz) at Council Bluffs. Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Turner of .Amarillo. Tex., were visitors at the Wm. Whitney home from Monday to Wednesday. He is a brother of Mrs. Whitney. On Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Whit, ney drove to Humboldt to see Mr. and Mrs. Charles Turner, her brother. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Irons were supper guests at their son's, Henry Irons's, home last Thursday evening in honor of Mrs. Irons's birthday. Later in the evening they called at the heme of Mrs. Wm .Vogt and El mer whose birthday is the same day as Mrs. Irons's and enjoy ed ice cream and cake with them. Chester Irons's cousin. Mrs. Lambert Wissink of Lincoln, was a visitor in their home. She is the daughter of Orval Irons of Lincoln. Last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Miller and son called on his parents, the Mel Millers. They had brought her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McBride home to Alvo. Thev had been visiting them at York. Sunday afternoon and supper guests at the Fred Pratt home were her brother and wife, the Dwight Schrolls of Fairbury. Spending all last week at the EUB Church Conference at York were Rev. Ebinger. Mrs. Harold Luetchens of Immanuel Church, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ei sele of Murdock and Mrs. Elda Lenz, lay delegate of Elmwood. The McCartney family had a get-together at Ted McCart ney's in Lincoln. They includ ed Mrs. Ed James, the "mother. and Mr. James, her three dau ghters and families and her sis ter from Akron. Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Ed James spent the past week, in Omaha visiting the E. P. Petersons, a daughter. Mrs. Gussie Jockens had as her Sunday guests Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kuhlenengel and Dale of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Jun ior Oehlerkinsr. George Stovall is here spend ing his month's leave with his mother, Mrs. Laura Stovall. Al so visiting with Mrs. Stovall Is her sister, Mrs. Susan Dankers of Neenah. Wis. They all sent to McCook and to Kearney to visit relatives. Bell Sutherland who teaches at Price. Utah, is spending va cation here with her mother. Mrs. Laura Sutherland. Sunday supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Glantz were Rev. and Mrs. Jam es Hansen, Pat and Laurie. Dr. and Mrs. Miles Totman have completed their moving back into their home which was kept all the time they were gone. 4-H News ELMWOOD (Special) The Double B 4-H Club met at the home of Marv Ami Hall June 16. The president Gloria Hansen called the meet ing to order. Roll call was answered by the girls girls telling how many times they made and changed their bed. 4-H camp was discussed and most of the girls planned to at tend the later part of July. The girls taking "Lets Sew" showed their aprons. Mrs. M. R. Hansen showed them how to make hot pads. The girls taking "Lets Cook" made apple crisps. Mrs. Ful mer served lunch. Next meeting will be July 14 at the home of Barbara Zierott at 7:30 p.m. Al members and mothers were present. Kathy Hammer, news reporter. Live wire G and C 4-H club met Tuesday June 23 at the home of Mrs. Turley Wall be cause of the mumps at the Bob Wall home. Eight members and one visitor were present. Meeting was called to order by the pre sident, Lila Jo Wall. Roll call was answered by something ex tra they had done for their rooms. The 4-H pledge was re peated. Mary Wall gave a demonstra tion on making beds the 4-H way. Lila Jo Wall demonstrated on settin gthe table. The club is selling magazine subscriptions and the 'money earned was discussed and voted i to be sent to the Cass County 4-H camp site fund. If not en ough fund is raised for a county site its to be forwarded on to the State 4-H camp site fund. The next meeting will be a wiener roast at the Greenwood park. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Murdoch, Miss Bessie Murdoch, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Murdoch attended the wedding Sunday of Miss Valerie Denniston and Donald Stokes at the Methodist church at Ne braska City. Friday evening the Junior class held a picnic with the in termediate class as guests. The teachers are Mrs. Fred Hansen and Mrs. Dick Stone. It was held at the Stone home. Twenty eight were present. The girls and their mothers and sponsors were guests at a brunch at the Lin coln hotel. In the evening they appeared on T. V. Mr. and Mrs. Kent LSalfnur and family went to O.seeola, Nebr., Saturday to spend the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. liar old Hauberg and family. Marty Hauberg was their overnight guest Friday.
