Kearns Post 56 held Its regular meeting on Thursday veening in the 40 and 8 clubrooms. Mrs. Euuene Vro man, president, presided. Membership committee report ed 142 members for 1959. Mem bers of the membership com mittee will be honored at the Department Convention and a century pin will be presented Mrs. Vroman for signing up 100 members. Others to receive a wards are Mrs. Fred Feldhou sen, Mrs. Gene Krings, Mrs. John Schutz. Mrs. Melvin Mor itz. Sick committee. Mrs. John Kalasek. sent two cards and one bouquet of flowers. Historian Mrs. Wra. Maston gave a brief sketch of the year's history. She has prepared a his tory for the department pres ident and will prepare the his tory book to be entered in the District contest. A call for the 39th Conven tion Julv 17-19 In Lincoln was read. Delegates elected were Mines. Lloyd Fitch, Charles Ault, John Schutz, Eugnee Vroman, Eugene Krings, Wm. Maston, Raymond Larson and Miss Mildred Hall. Alternates are Mmes. Don Warca. Sophia Wolcver, Oliver Schiber, Mary Rea, Fred Feldhousen. Melvin Moritz. Kenneth Young and Rus sell Schalk. Mrs. Robert CapDell was thanked bv the unit for taking the Girls Stater. Susan Sharp, to Lincoln to attend Girls State. Mrs. Cappell also brought Sus an home after her week at the event. The nominating committee, Mrs. John Schutz and Mrs. Ol iver Schiber presented their re port and election of officers was held. Elected were: president, Mrs. Lloyd Fitch; first vice presi dent, Mildred Hall: second vice president, Mrs. Russell Schalk; secretary, Mrs. Charles Ault; treasurer, Mrs. Raymond Lar son; historian, Mrs. Lucille Gai nes; chaplain, Mrs. Harry Por ter; sergeant-at-arms, Mrs. Ken neth Young; colorbearer, Mrs Merlin Jochimsen; and execu tive committee. " "i l ; . 125 at Fete For Embrees An evening of fellowship, food, and fun was enjoyed last Wed nesday evening by approxima tely one hundred twenty five members and friends at the Me thodist Fellowship dinner which was given in honor of Rev. and Mrs. Embree's return to the church for another year. After a wonderful and bounti ful dinner Mr. Howard Davis very graciously welcomed Rev. Embree's return and spoke of their very successful year just finished. A solo was sung by Eileen Por ter. Mrs. Richard Kucera ac companied and also for the group singing of old popular and familiar songs, which were great ly enjoyed by all under the dir ection of Phyllis Bourch. Hostesses of the evening were members of the Gleaners Circle. Out-of-Town Guests At Ahrens Home Mr. and Mrs. Joe Doedvns and familv. Bishop, Tex., and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Romans and familv. Manhattan, Kan., were weekend guests at the En no Ahrens home. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Ander son and Jeffrev ioined the group Friday evening. All attended the Schroeder Johnson wedding Sunday after noon at Weeping Water. ' 4 ft CAFE Surprise Farewell For Local People Mrs. Dorace Mvers and dau ghter Phyllis were honored gu ests at a surorlse farewell par ty Tuesday evening. Fiftv church friends gathered to present them a timely gift and wish them well on their journey. Rev. Geo. Smith served as emcee. After a week in Wayne and several weeks in North Platte, the Myerses will leave for Pas adena, Calif., to live. Baltz Meisinger Family Reunion Sixty - one members of the Baltz Meisinger family held their annual familv reunion on June 27 with a picnic dinner at Bethany Park in Lincoln. The oldest member present was L. A. Meisinger of Platts mouth, the only survivor of the family of eight chidren. Most recently were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Meisineer of Weep ing Water. They were wed on June 7 at Louisville. Two births were recorded. Jerry Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Conkel of Burr and the mcst recent, Linda Jean, new daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hawkins, nee Martha Alice Mei singer, of Cogona Park, Calif. Mrs. Hawkins Is the daughter of Elmer H. Meisinger of Ash land. New officers elected for the following year are Emmons (Mike) Meisineer of Nebraska City, and Katherine Meisinger of Plattsmouth. After a bountiful dinner, the afternoon was spent in visiting, viewing pictures and reminisc ing. Miss Schroeder Weds Mr. Johnson WEEPING WATER The Christain Church here was the j scene of the double ring cer emony of Miss Mary Ellen Schroeder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Schroeder of Lou isville, and Warren Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson of Murray Sunday af ternoon. The bride's brother, Larry Schroeder of Manhattan, I Kan., performed the ceremony. Matron of honor was Mrs. Valarian Rezac of Valparaiso. Miss Irma Kirchhoff was brides maid. Stanley Schroeder Jr. and Donna Schroeder of Louisville, both of Louisville, lighted the tapers. Clifford Cooper was trainbearer. Rita and Richard Johnson were flowergirl and ringbearer. Eugene Johnson of Omaha was best man. Dale Nielsen of Weeping Water was grooms man. Seating the guests were Gerald Terry of Lincoln and Larry Meyer. The bride chose a gown of white chantilly lace and nylon tulle styled with a torso bodice and a sabrina neckline. A tunic effect of lace fell to a chapel train edged in a lace and tulle ruffle. Her fingertip veil of il lusion was held by a half hat of lace and seed pearls. She carried red roses on a white Bible. The bridegroom attended Om aha university. Father Max Kors officiated at the four o' clock ceremony June 28. The bride was given In mar riage by her grandfather, Mr. Paul Winborne. The princess bridal gown of white parchment satin was enchantingly simple with a bell-shaped chapel length train, traditional long sleeves and stand-away collar edged in tiny pearls. The bride wore a Danish fairy crown beaded with pearls and crystals and a fin gertip illusion veil and carried a prayer book with floral sprays of stephanotis. This gown was created by the bride. Carol Faris, Ellen Sprieck, Mary Stone and the, minister of the Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Joe Barr, returned Satur day morning after spending a week at Camp Kitaki at South Bend. Rev. Barr was a spon sor at the camp and the girls had an enjoyable time. Mr. and Mrs. Bob McKulsky and family entertained at a pic nic dinner at their home. Daughters Mr. and Mrs. Ronald March of this city are parents of a daughter, born June 25 at St. Catherine's Hospital, Omaha, weighing 6 pounds, 4'i ounces. She has been named Carolyn Marie. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Emil Lemon of Om aha and Mrs. Julia March of Plattsmouth. James Lemon of Unadilla is great-grandfather. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Newburn of Fairoaks. Calif., announce the birth of a daughter Debra Mae, 8 lbs. June 28. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Marion Rou.se and Mrs. Bcrnice Newburn of this city. Ann Begley, dressed identic ally to the bridesmaids, was flower girl; Michael O'Donnell was ringbearer for the double ring service. Mrs. Earl Roades, the bride groom's mother, wore embroid ered tulle over forget-me-fliot blue with blue accessories, com plimented, by a corsage of red roses. Mother of the bride, Mrs. Margaret Cognac, wore hya cinth chantilly lace with lilac accessories and a corsage of pale pink roses. The reception was held at the Lions Club following the cere mony. Guests were greeted by Miss Marilyn Hendricks in charge of the guest book. Hos tesses were the Misses Karlene Senf and Mary Iverson. The couple will reside at 418 North Fourth Street and will be at home to their friends after July 15. Rev. Melvin Shafcr Returned to EUB Church at Mynard The annual conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Nebraska closed its meeting at York with the an nouncement of assignment of pastors and elective officers. The assignment of pastors was made by Bishop L. L. Baugh man of Kansas City. The residents of this section of Cass County are pleased with the return of Rev. Melvin Sha-1 fer as pastor of the Mynard! church where he has served soj faithfully and well. Rev. Sha fer has done a great deal In keeping the church at its high standard and attracting many to the church. Other sections of the county have also had return of pas tors who have served their churches in an inspirational manner and added to the church growth. Rev. F. C. Ebinger was returned to the Elmwood and Murdock churches and Rev. O. W. Matzke to the Murdock Eb enezer Church. The Nehawka church will again have the serv ices of Rev. From Omaha, were Mrs. Hu go Wardel and Mr. and Mrs Ramon Koubek. Harvey Meisingers Celebrate 25th Wedding Date Mr. and Mrs. Harvev C. Mei singer were honored on their 25th wedding anniversary Sat urday evening at 7:30. A surprise reception was held at Holy Rosary Hall for sixty relatives and close friends. The event was planned bv the cou ple's two sons and daughters-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth V. Meisinger and Mr. and Mrs. Geroge R. Meisinger. The evening was spent in play ing cards and the pleasure of old friends and relatives renew ing memories and. events of the past years. A buffet luncheon was serv ed later in the evening. The de corations of the tables were car ried out in silver and white. The traditional decorated cake of silver and white served as the centerpiece. The couple received many beautiful gifts and cards which will be cherished in memory of their 25th wedding anniver sary. Mr. and Mrs. Meisinger were married at Holv Rosary church June 27, 1934. They attended a 7:30 morning mass on Saturday at the church, where they re ceived the nuptial blessing of the church from Father Ban ach. - They have two sons, Kenneth V. who was married to Bar bara Anderson Dec. 25. 1955. and they have two children Ken neth Jr. and Katherine: and George R. Meisinger, the other son was married June 13 to Bernadine Lansink. York Visitors In Cass County Mr. and Mrs. Frank Woods of York are enjoying a visit with old time friends in Cass County . where they lived many years. Mr. and Mrs. Woods were among the best known throughout the. county for their activities in the community life. For many years he was head of the County Fair and in the activities, in and around Weep ing Wafer. Later they moved to York where for many years he served as superintendent of the IOOF Home. Mr. Woods was successful in management of the Home until his resigna tion. While here, they were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Jameson and Mrs. Nettie Hubbard, old neighbors at Weep ing Water. Williams-Snodgrass Ceremony At St John's Church Saturday (? - t ""' K ':.mtL Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dean Snodgrass Saint John the Baptist Church of Plattsmouth was the setting for the wedding June 27 of Miss Barbara Laurlne Williams and Mr. Roger Dean Snodgrass, both of this city. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Snodgrass. The main altar of the church was decorated with bouquets of pink and white gladioli. The bride's brothers, Harold and Wayne Williams, lighted the candles on the altar and assist ed at the ceremonv. The Rt. Rev. Monsignor Jo seph Przudzik. V.F., officiated at the nuptial mass at 12 noon, In the presence of 200 guests. Mrs. Roger Hild was organist and Mrs. John Bergmann was soloist. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in full length nylon lace. The bouf fant skirt was accented with a deep flounce of net ending In a chapel train. The scalloped neck line of the fitted bodice with cap sleeves was adorned with sequins. Her fingertip veil fell from a cap studded with pearls and sequins. She carried a bou quet of white carnations. Miss Barbara Krings was was maid of honor, attired in lavendar net. She carried a col onial bouquet of pink carna tions. The Misses Carol Fisher and Betty Jo Williams, sister of the bride, were bridesmaids. Miss Fisher was gowned In nile green net and Miss Williams in pink net. They each carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Terry McBride was best man. Leroy Walton, Dan Covert and Lannie Ray Mendenhall usher ed. Valerie Williams was flower girl and Debbie and Robbie Snodgrass were ringbearers.
