There were 18 members present and one guest, Mrs. Wil liam Heebner. Mrs. S. H. Harmon, music leader,- led in the singing of "Oh, what a Beautiful morning." The club watched the "Jolly Janes" on TV. Mrs. Murray Mutter's sister was a member of the Jol ly Janes. Mrs. Everett Jose is a new member of the club. Devotions were given by Mrs. Mutter. The lesson on "Eyes that See. Ears That Hear" was given by Mrs. L. R. Lane and Mrs. Art Barkhurst. The May meeting will be with Mrs. Claude Hollenber ger with Mrs. H. E. Blaike as co hostess. The Sew'n'Sews met at the home of Mrs. Arthur Schmidt. Mrs. Martha Rhodes was a guest. The American Legion Auxiliary met at the Legion Hall on Tues day evening Twelve members and one guest, Mrs. Marion Er hart were present. Mrs. Erhart Is a new member of the organiza tion. Mrs. Richard Bickford pre sided at the meeting in the ab sence of the president. It was voted to donate five dollars to the cancer fund. Mrs. Mata A mick gave a report on the Coun ty Convention held at Eagle. Six from the Auxiliary attended. Mrs. Amick won the door prize. Mrs. Clarence Norris, chairman of the Cancer drive, showed a film on Breast Cancer. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Thom as Beins and Mrs. Vernon Duwe. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Rector and family, Mr. and Mr3. Thomas Beins and family Mr. and Mrs. La Neil Patterson and family, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Christen sen, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Duwe and David and Mrs. Harry Doty and Troy of Louisville surprised Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Patterson on their 51 st wedding anniversary. Plans were also made for the annual mother-daughter dinner, which will be held at the Congrega tional church parlors on Tues day evening, April 28. The Brownie Troop met Mon day after school. The afternoon was spent working on letter holders. Refreshments were fur nished by Susan Dohrman. Margaret Lorensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Lorensen and Joyce Domingo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Domingo were Initiated into the Order of Rainbow Girls on Tuesday even ing. Following the meeting Mr. and Mrs. Lorensen and Mr. and Mrs. Domingo were guests at the reception. Helen Mather and Oeraldine Michelsen served at the tea table. Cookies and punch was served. Mrs. Ted Cooper, Mrs. John Kunz and Mrs. Clayton Ten Hulzen of Auburn were the host esses at a surprise farewell party Wednesday evening at the Ho ward Rasmussen home, honor, ing Mrs. Rasmussen. There were 16 ladies present and three children. Mrs. Rasmussen was presented with a flash camera as a farewell gift. Mr. and Mrs. Ras mussen, Linda and Jane will move May 2nd to Des Moines, Iowa, where they will be custod ians of an apartment house. The evening was spent in playing games. Mr. and Mrs. Sigvald Jensen, Mrs. Lynn Rothe, Mrs. Nissley Marshall, Mrs. James Doyle, Mrs. Clarence King, Mrs. Eldon Moore and Mrs. Herman Aronson at tended the fifth annual Scout Recognition dinner on Tuesday evening, April 21 at the Pershing Municipal Auditorium in Lin coln. Kenneth A. Wells, National Director of Research of the Boy Scouts of America was the fea tured speaker. He is a native of Portland, Oregon and has been actively engaged in the Boy Scout movement since he joined as a boy In 1920. Free tickets were given to the Cubs and the leaders for this event. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Horn and John were Thursday evening Turkey supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kobler of Louisville, honoring Mrs. Kobler on her bir thday. Mrs. Van Horn baked the birthday cake. Mrs. Bernard Derby of Ralston Mrs. Gary Van Horn of Spring field and Mrs. Eugene Kobler of Louisville were Tuesday guests of Mrs. Edward Van Horn. Vicky and Becky Van Horn spent the day with Mrs. Van Horn while the ladies went to Murray and Plattsmouth on business. Mrs. Ted Cooper and Mrs. Cla rence Schmadeke were the host esses at a farewell party for the fifth grade Friday afternoon at the school, honoring Linda Ras mussen, who will be leaving soon for Iowa. Ice cream bars were served and Linda was presented with a gift. Shirley Upton was a Tuesday supper and overnight guest of Carol Nickels. The eighth grade class and their teacher, Miss Maude Bald win, bought a pin oak tree, using the money from their class trea surer, and planted it Wednesday afternoon on the public library grounds. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bauers are the parents of a son, born Tuesday, April 21, 1959 at the St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City.' Thomas Eugene weighed seven pounds three ounces at birth. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Betts and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bauers. Great grandparents are Mr and Mrs. Fred Betts of Nebraska City and William Sheehan, Sr. of Manley The Bauers have another son, Larry William Art Hammond entered the St. Joseph hospital in Omaha for observation and treatment. Mrs. Hammond and Mrs. John Van Horn visited him Friday after noon. RD3 Ronald Taylor is home on a ten day leave, visiting, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Taylor and Geraldine. He will report back to U. S. S. Abnaki at San Francisco on April 18. SSgt. James Wiseman left Friday morning for the Bakalar Air Force Base at Columbus, In diana after spending a 30 days leave visiting relatives and , friends In Weeping Water. Mrs. Wiseman, Dallas and Jackie will remain in Weeping ater until the schoolyears ends. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Lorensen left for an extended visit at the home of their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Lorensen at Rye, New York and with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Hock and children at Peoria, Illinois . Miss Margaret Murphy return ed to her home in Melrose, Iowa after visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Slattery and family. Mrs. E. Thomas Stacey enter tained at a birthday party Sat urday afternoon for her dau ghter Heather on her eighth bir thday. The guests were John Van Horn, Bill Saxton, Mike Saxton, John Thomsen, Ann Slattery, Debbie Pillfold, Susan Dohrman, Patricia Gwin, Joan Domingo, Sandra Baker and Mrs. James Kivett, their teacher. Balloons and May baskets were given as treats when children went home. Friday Heather passed out treats to the second grade at school. Dennis Gochenour passed out treats on Thursday to the eighth grade and the teacher for his 14th birthday. John Meeske also passed out bubble gum cigars as he was an uncle for the first time. His brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Meeske are the parents of a baby girl. Mrs. Willis Lorensen, Mrs. Mark Hohman, Mrs. William Kunz, Mrs. Edward Van Horn, Mrs. Arnold Upton and Mrs. Har old Meisinger entertained the eighth grade class and their teacher, Miss Maude Baldwin at a class party Friday evening at the Upton home. The evening was spent in playing games and dancing. Refreshments of sand wiches, Brownies and pop were served. The annual high school alum ni banquet will be held In the Agricultural Audtorlum on Sat urday evening, May 23rd. Re servations can be made by wri ting or contacting Robert Do mingo before May 20th. The banquet is open to all graduates of the Weeping Water high school and the Weeping Water Academy. Parents of members of this year's graduating class can also attend this banquet. Follow ing the banquet a dance will be held on he main floor of the auditorium. Mrs. Ben Olive entertained at a dinner Wednesday evening, honoring Mrs. H. C. Wilkinson on her birthday. Mrs. William Thornton was in charge of the program and presented Tommy Meeske who showed pxhlblts of models of clay and his draw ings. The next meeting will be with Mrs. E. O. Steckley with Fern Davis as co-hostess. Mrs. Homer Jameson will give a con vention report. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hohman of Manley and Gladys Hohman of Omaha were Friday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hohman and family. Clifford Cooper helped Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Cooper on Sunday to build a new cabin down by the River. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Urwln were Sunday evening sup per guests at the Cooper home. The LCPV Extension Club met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. John Rieke. Eleven members and two guests, Mrs. Harold Hudson and Mrs. Edna Philpot were present. Mrs. Lyal Schaeffer presented the lesson on "Lady at the Wheel." The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Schaeffer. Mrs. Carl Thorns and Mrs. Ed Slattery attended the St. Mary's Altar Society meeting Wednes day afternoon at the home of Mrs. John Murphy. Plans were made, for a bake sale which will be held at the Stubbendick Farm Store in Elmwood on Saturday afternoon, May 2nd. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ossen kop and Linda of Omaha and Edwin Sterling of Lincoln spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Alton Sterling. They visited the State Legisla ture where they were met and Introduced by Sen. Ed McHugh of Murdock. They visited a TV station and saw a homemakers program. They went on a guided tour of the Bank of Commerce. The remainder of the time was spent on the campus of the Uni versity of Nebraska, where they visited the Historical Society, Morrill Hall and the Planetar-, lum. President Dwlght D.
