Mrs. Gerard died on Wednesday after having been ill for 3 or 4 years and had been hospitalized at different times. Mr. and Mra. Harold Doran of Lincoln, were dinner guests at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Doran on Sunday. Miss Bethel Jeanne Wulf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wulf was married at an 8 o'clock ceremony on Sunday, March 22 at the Lutheran church near Walton to William Mehrens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meh rens of Plymouth, Nebr. Pink and white Gladioli in fan-haped ar rangement with clusters of light ed white candles decorated the chancel of the church. The lines were read by Rev. Paul Schmidt of Nebraska City, rel ative of the bride and assisted by Rev. E. H. Prange of Eagle. Mrs. Paul Schmidt of Nebraska City, cousin of bride was the matron of honor and the bride's matron was Mrs. Marion Wulf Misses Susanne Oberle and Ruth Prange were the bridesmaids. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Patty May and Miss Carla Wulf Eagle. Mrs. Albert Trancke of Walton, played the traditional music and accompanied Mrs Lempke who sang "O Perfect Love", and for the bride's cou sin, Marion Wulf who sang, "The Lord's Prayer". Serving his brother as best man, was Duane Mehrens of Lincoln. Ushers were Jerry Reed, Lynn Oatman and Bob Washborn all of Lincoln. Michael May and Tommy May of Walton, lighted the candles. The bride appeared in a gown of Italian silk in the ivory shade Irridescent beading pattered the rounded neckline of the long sleeved bodice and was repeated on the flaring skirt which was accented at the back by butter fly panels extending to the hem line of the whisper train. The attendant's full-skirted frocks of polished cotton shading from pale pink to deep rose were com pleted by matching brow veils. Mrs. Mehrens is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and a member of Pi Mu Epsllon and Psi Chi sororities, is now study ing for his masters degree at the University. The bride is also at tending the University of Ne braska after graduating from the Eagle Schools. She has ser ved as organist at her church and accompanied on the piano for solos during her high school days. The couple took a trip and will return to their studies at the University to complete their successful future ambitions. The Dorcas Society of the Immanuel Lutheran church will meet next Wednesday April 1st. with Mrs. Rudolph Wulf hostess. The topic discussion will be con ducted by Mrs. Elda Schroder on "Living Worship." Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Neeman of Lincoln called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fleishman Sunday evening. Mrs. weiiie Stan, sutierea a fall on Monday morning and cut her head. She became dizzy and was unable to protect herself She received medical attention and is recovering satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kreck- low of Manley, were dinner guests at the home of her sis ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs Henry Fleishman Sunday. Dur ing the afternoon the above folks and accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gerhard and latter's grandson, Rady McCoy called at the Mmes' brother's home, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Win kler at Lincoln, returning home early evening. Mrs. Laura West was an ov ernight guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry West at Lincoln last Monday evening, re turning home by bus Tuesday morning. The feagle Methodist Church Is planning a sunrise worship service on Easter morning at 6:15 a.m. at the countryside of Mr. and Mrs. John Ronhovde where they offered the site near their home. Everyone is invit ed to attend and the service is arranged by the Sr. MYF. A breakfast will be ready for all at the church basement after the service. Gene Stall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Valjean Stall underwent a tonsilectomy Friday at Lin coln. The O St. Homemakers Pro ject club met at Mrs. Arthur Adams's home Tuesday. Mmes. Dale McLaughlin and William Helmink conducted the lesson, Let's Eat Fruit. Mrs. Adams served refreshments, pineapple tart and peach dessert. Next meeting will be at Mrs. Donna Bowne's home in April. Several members of the WS CS attended the annual meeting at the Trinity Methodist Church In Lincoln Tuesday and Wed nesday. They were Mmes. Es ther Lannlng, Laura Lanning, Laura West and Pearl Adams. They report 1600 women regis tered. The Eagle OES Kensington met at the home of Mrs. Ger ald Reber Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. David McKay of Alvo, called at the home of Mrs. An na Flfer Thursday. The families and members of the Eastern Star Chanter attend ed the family covered dish din ner at the Masonic Temple at Elmwood Tuesday evening. Jeanette Walker had the mis fortune to injure the muscles of her back while practicing vol leyball. Then she was injured in the Eagle-Adams game and required medical attention. She was absent from school a coup le days. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bird and family of California and his sis ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Schmidt and sons who re cently arrived in Eagle from Texas after he received his ar my discharge, left in the lat ter's station wagon for the Bird family's home Saturday. The Schmidt family will spend a few weeks visiting relatives in California before returning to Nebraska or locating any where permanently. Gall Lanning. son of Mr. and Mrs. Orris Lanning, his grand mother Mrs. Lucy Gerhard of Wisconsin who has been visiting several weeks with her grand daughters in Eagle and Elm wood, and Mrs. Chester Born emeier of Elmwood, left last Friday morning for Ocononom oc, Wis., Mrs. Gerhard's home. Mrs. Bornemeier and Gail plan to return after a few days visiting. He successfully com pleted his diesel training at the Milford Training School recent ly and hopes to secure a posi tion in that line. He intended to inquire in that area before re turning home. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ander son Jr. of Burlington, Iowa, were planning to arrive in Ea gle the past weekend coming from Missouri to visit her bro ther and family, the Dick Nor rises and will spend a few days visiting the parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Norrls and Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Anderson of Eagle. He will leave so as to be at Me sa, Calif., by the 30th to begin Spring baseball training. The Evening Eagle Exten sion club members did not meet at Mrs. Richard Lichty's last Tuesday evening as planned due to Mrs. Lichty having a virus infection. She hoped to have the club meeting March 24. Mr. and Mrs. Orris Lanning and Mrs. Laura West attended the funeral service for Mr. Chas. Sweet at the Presbyterian church at Palmyra, Nebr. on last Thursday afternoon. Mr. George Wagner returned home from his second hospitali zation, on last Tuesday. The Eagle Schools have two new Exits and fire Escape im provements one from the low er floor in the Agriculture of fice and another from the east side of the Assembly room at the far east of the building, wnicn is a requirement, lor a public school. The Eagle music contestants participated in the two music contests at Weeping Water coun ty contest on last Friday March 20th and the Mudecas contest at Bennet on March 23rd. They will also go to the District con test on April 16th and 17th at Wahoo, Nebr. Participants -Beverly Ronhovde, Paula Em bree, Sharon Donlan, Jerry Ron hovde, Ronnie Ronhovde, Fred Embree, Dennis Adkins, Lee Westlake, Arnold Westlake, John Weyers, and Dick Ostrandr vocal soloists, girls glee club, Tri ple Sextette and duet also en tered. The results from the County music contest on Friday, were very commendable. Contestants receiving "One" rating were: -Boy's low voice: Lee Westlake and girls low; Paula Embree, Boy's high: John Weyers and Donald Ostrander', Boy's meduim were: Jerry Ronnovda and Fred Embree, girls medium; Beverly Ronhovde. The Mixed Octette and Piano Solo Susanne Oberle also received a One. The con testants receiving a "Two" were Sharon Donlan for girls low Arnold Westlake for boys low, and the duet and girls glee club. Susan Umland received a three for her piano solo and the Triple trio also received a three rating. Mrs. Wilson is the music Instructor. Mr. Harold Siekman of Hast ings, Nebr. visited his mother, Mrs. A. H. Siekman last week end. Miss Kathy Elnfeld attended birthday party for a fellow em ployee Miss Geraldine Moeller nurse aid at St. Elizabeth's hospital on last Saturday after noon, at the home of latters' parents, in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kirch hoff and his mother, Mrs. Etta Kirchhoff visited his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Rippe at Avoca, Nebr. The latter had recently returned from the hospital, after undergoing sur gery, as the Syracuse hospital The Kirchhoffs also called at the home of his other sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. William Dettmer Avoca before return ing home on last Sunday after noon and evening. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Swarts of Ashland, accompanied his bro ther, Mr. and Mrs. LaVell Swarts, Eagle, the four, are enjoying a trip to Phoenix and Tuscon, Ari zona, for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kir chhoff visited her brother, Mr. and Mrs. John Minderman, at Burr, Nebr. on last Thursday. The Eagle Boy Souts attended the Eagle Methodist Church school and worship services, on last Sunday morning and also assisted in the worship services offertory and ushering, during the hour. Genie Stall, young son of Mr, and Mrs. .Valjean Stall under went a toiisillectony on last Fri day morning at Lincoln. He is re covering satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Siek man and family of Prairie Home called at the home of his moth er, Mrs. A H Siekman, on last Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Scatter good visited at the homes of their daughters and families, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Sorensens' at Ruskin, Nebr. and Rev. and Mrs. Wm. Doran's at Hebron, Nebr. Sunday The Eagle folks also call ed at the home of Mrs. Scatter good's cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Har vey Crawford, at Bruning, Nebr enroute to Ruskin, on Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Fischer and family of Loup City, Nebr. visit ed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer and Kathy E. on Sunday. The Women's Society of Chris tian Service members, will meet on next Wednesday aftrnoon. April 1st at the Methodist Church asement with Mmes. Syl via Muenchau and Flossie Trum ble co-hostesses. The devotional will be led by Laura Lanning and the lesson directed by Mrs. Laura West. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar McClum of Sidney, Nebr. visited her bro ther Mr. Gerard and her niece and family, the Clarence Vad ers during the weekend and at tending the funeral of Mr. Ger ard's daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ol ga Gerard, 33, at Lincoln, Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hester of Council Bluffs, Iowa visited their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oldfield and Ed, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Fifer of Lincoln and Mrs. Anna Fifer visited at . the Jake Rodaway home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Douglas and two daughters, of Palmyra, were dinner guests at the home of their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Rodaway's on Sunday. During the evening, the latters sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Malone and 3 child ren of Palmyra, called at the Rodaway home. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Emshoff, of Avoca, returned home Sat urday after enjoying a honey moon trip to Florida. They were married March 6th at the Eagle Methodist church. They will re side on a farm near Avoca, Nebr. and Mrs. Emshoff plans to con tinue her position at a Lin coln office, and drive to and from her home. The 'OST highway No. 34" through Eagle has been sur veyed and we are informed the pavement will not improvise the Gas stations, however, the high way proper will extend over to the south side on shoulders of the pavement lane. The Eagle Volleyball team won 3rd place In the tournament. The nominating committee pre sented the following ballot to the club to be considered: pres ident, Annette Fltzpatrick; vice president, Donna Neuman; re cording secretary, Marjorle Mc Clun; corresponding secretary, Bonnie Renner; and treasurer, Marguerite Streeter. The state convention is to be held in Lincoln April 8-10 with April 9 being Junior Night. Suzanne Pankonin presented material' received on the All State High School Fine Arts course to be held in Lincoln. It was decided that she would meet with Mr. Schaumburg to select a candidate. The program was given by Mrs. Earl Stiffler. Norma Nich ols and Donna Neuman. Golden Circle Club The Golden Circle Club met at the home of Mrs. Vera Mil ler with Mrs. Tena Nessen as co-hostess. Mrs. Eva Blair and Mrs. Stella Brown had charge of the program. Next meeting will be at ths home of Pauline Urwin. Glendale Club The Glendale club held their f amity. party March 13 at the Legion Hall. The evening was spent playing games. Next meet ing will be April 2 at the home of Lena Vervaecke.
