Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adkins are announcing the engagement of their daughter Sharon Kaye to Rodney A. Youngbauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Young bauer of Alma, Wise. A June wed ding is planned. Miss. Adkins will graduate in May and Mr. Youngbauer is attending school at Lincoln. Several students of Eagle schools entered the Amateur contest at Palmyra sponsored by the Palmyra Lions club re cently and won the challenge to appear on Saturday evening for the final awards for Dis trict winners. Those participat ing are. Solos Paula Embree, Jerry Ronhovde, Lee Westlake, Arnold Westlake. Piano Solos Susan Umland and Susanne Oberle, Vocal Trio Beverly Ronhovde, Glenda Wall and Sharon Donlan. The Seniors have planned a community entertainment with Basketball and Volley Ball for their Benefit drive on March 3, Tuesday evening at the school house. They sold boxes of candy recently and received rood response. Dale Bowman was the conductor. Mr. and Mrs. Orris Lanning and sons visited her uncle, Mr. Edward Gerhard at the Bryan Memorial Hospital at Lincoln Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Novak and sons of Crete were dinner guests at her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips Sunday. During the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Novak called at the E. J. Morton home at Alvo and con tinued on to Omaha, Nebr., ac companied by the Mortons to visit the latter's daughter, Kaye and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Allen and family. Mrs. Allen has been quite ill and was in the hospital, however is now at home. Mines Allen and Novak are classmate graduates of Eagle. Mrs. Russell Colbert of Louis ville, Kentucky came via plane to be at the bedside of her father, Edward Gerhard, who has been ill several weeks with flu complications and entered the hospital recently. She re mained for several days and planned to return home the first of this week if her fathers con dition continues to improve. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Caddy and son visited at the home of Mrs. Caddy's cousin and hus band, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Christensen at Plattsmouth, last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Polken went to Idabel, Oklahoma last weekend and visited her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Biggs and his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bell and family. The Womens Society of Christ ian Service met at church Wed nesday afternoon with Mmes Laura Lanning and Eleanor Muenchau co-hostesses. Devot ions will be led by Eva Scatter kood and Lesson directed by Olive Westlake. The open meeting for Eagle patrons of Eagle schools, result ed in opposing any redistricting at the present time. Mrs. Dean Oberle of Lincoln, entertained with a Pink and Blue shower for her sister-in-law, Mrs. Dale Oberle at her home, on Sunday afternoon. Eagle guests were Mrs. Carl Oberle and daughter Judy, Mrs. Fred Schwegman, Mrs. Claude Gerhard, Mrs. Dale Stall, Mrs Valjean Stall and Miss Valene Stall. Mr. and Mrs. Lester R. Vin cent of Lincoln visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ober le and Judy on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Fifer of Lincoln visited his mother, Mrs. Anna Fifer on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Rodaway called dur ing the afternoon. Mrs. Grace Copple of Alvo vis ited at Mrs. Anna Fifer's home on last Tuesday afternoon and both called at the home of Mrs. Hallie Stewart during the after noon. Misses Freda and Caroline Pei tter were co-hostesses for a Tupperware Party bridal shower at their home, honoring, Miss Mary Weyers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Weyers. She re ceived many very nice and use ful gifts, and will be married in the near future to Robert Nee man of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. John Weyers and family and Robert Neeman of Lincoln and Lewis Weyers, Eagle, motored to Omaha on last Sunday to spend the day with Messers Weyer's mother, Mrs. William Weyers, on her 92nd birthday. She is residing at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mailers. The aged mother is quite well and happy. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gerhard and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schweg man visited Mr. Gerhard's father, Edward Gerhard at the Bryan Memorial Hospital, Lin coln Sunday afternoon. The Trinity Lutheran aid members will meet Thursday March 5th P.M. at Mrs. John Rudolph's home. Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Erskine en joyed last weekend motoring to Columbia, Mo., to visit her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Whipple. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kemper and family of Walton and Mrs. Margaret Snokes and son Dale were dinner guests at the Elton Snoke home Sunday. Miss Mary Weyers was honor ed by a group of fellow employ ees of the accounting depart ment office of the Lincoln Tele phone Company at Lincoln with a dinner and bridal shower re cently. Another employee, Miss Delores Beltz of Lincoln was also honored at the same time with a bridal shower by the co workers, and will be married in the near future. Miss Kathy Einfelat was an overnite guest of Miss Carol Fischer at latter's home on last Saturday evening and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hites of Ashland visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Wright on Sunday. Mr. Hite's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Krueger of Murdock also visited at the Wright home during the day. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fanders of Lincoln, former Eagle resident, visited at the home of Mr. Char les Strabel on Sunday afternoon Mr. Carl Johnson Sr., and daughter, Mrs. Harvey Heiers of Alvo, were in Eagle Saturday morning. The Johnsons have been staying at the daughter's home for several weeks, having assisted at latter's home, while the Heiers went to Texas a few weeks ago. The parents plan to return home soon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wachter and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wach ter and family of Nebraska City visited at the C. O. Wright home on last Wednesday to help cele brate Mr. Wright's 81st birth day. Messers Wachter's are ne phews of Mrs. Wright. Both Mr. and Mrs. Wright are enjoying better health at this time. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. George Kirchnoff and 2 sons of Weeping Water and his ne phew, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kirch hoff and family also of Weeping Water and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wohlers of Syracuse, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Her man Kirchhoff on Sunday. Dur ing the evening, Mr. and Mrs. John Kirchhoff and Carole of Weeping Water, called at the Kirchhoff home. Mrs. Etta Kir chhoff, mother of the Kirch hoff's now resides at the Her man Kirchhoff home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Starr Jr. and family of Lincoln, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eu gene West and family on Sun day. Mrs. Starr is the former Patricia Gettel and attended school at Eagle in elementary grades, a classmate of Mrs. West. Mr. and Mrs. William Wheatley of Lincoln, called at the home of his sister and fam ily, Eugene West's Sunday af ternoon and evening. Mrs. Paul Embree was substi tute teacher at Alvo elementary grade room on Monday. A miscellaneous bridal shower was honored, Miss Colleen Coat man of Lincoln, at her sister's home, Mrs. Roland Halverson on Sunday afternoon. Co-hostesses were Mrs. John Halvorsen, and Mmes, Talbert Edwards, Gerald Reben and Ralph Drea mer of Alvo. Miss Coatman at tended school at Alvo several years ago, prior to moving to Fairbury, Nebr., where she grad uated a couple of years ago. The honoree received many attrac tive and useful gifts. The out-of-town guests, were Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Coatman, Fair bury, tomes Roy Coatman, Lee Coatman, Ashland and Mrs. James Lake, Lincoln. The other guests were also relatives and friends, of Alvo. On Monday afternoon Mmes Laura West and Ida Luebbe vis ited Mr. George Wagner at the Veterans hospital at Lincoln. LOUISVILLE Mra. Ralph Wildrick Phone 251 1 Trouble Shooters The Trouble Shooters Tractor Club held their meeting at the home of Leonard Hild Feb. 9. Gary Reed was a new member. The club accepted an invitation from the Saddle and Bridle Club to go roller skating. After the meeting, junior leaders, Robert Hild and Robert Engelkemeier gave demonstra tions on soil erosion and how top soil and subsoil soak up water. Members judged our oats prepared by leader Forrest En gelkemeier. Jolly Workers The Jolly Workers 4-H club met Feb. 18 at the home of lea der, Mrs. Irene Johnson. Roll call was answered by naming a baking ingredient. There were eight members and one guest, Barbara Woolhiser, present. Each girl gave a demonstration. Center Extension Meeting was held Feb. 19 with Mrs. Leonard Stohlmann. Ten members answered roll call by telling of an interesting laun dry trick and showing valen tines from secret pals. Mrs. Her man Bergmann and Mrs. Regin ald Colbert gave the lesson on Laundry Tricks and Gadgets. A White elephant sale was held with the proceeds going to the diabetic fund. Next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Anna Harms March 19. Louisville Woman's Club "Music for Every Month" was the theme of Mrs. Laura Gess's program presentation at Wo man's club. Mrs. Frances Biggs Mr. Wagner underwent an ap pendectomy a week ago and is recovering satisfactorily. He has farmed Mrs. West's farm ground for several years. Georgia Ann and Ronnie Wagner visited their father on Sunday afternoon with their uncle, Dale Ossensop of Walton, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bird were supper guests at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bird and family at Lincoln on last Thursday evening. Mr. Fred Wilson of Imperial, visited his mother-in-law, Mrs. Hallie Stewart last Wednesday and Thursday. Mrs. Wilson is teaching in the High School and could not come. They have made plans to move to New Mex ico at close of the school term and are having a sale. They are now residing on Mrs. Stewart's ranch farm. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bird and son of California are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bird and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Wm Denny and daughter Barbara of Des Moines visited her parents, Roscoe Birds and visiting her brother and family of California during the weekend. A family gathering was enjoyed on Sunday includ ing Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bird and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bird, Miss Marilyn Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mach and family of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Wm Den ny and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bird and son of Califor nia. During the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Frohlich of Cortland, Nebr., and Mr. and Mrs. Honlan Kunz and family called at the Roscoe Bird home. The above family also called at the grandparent's home, Mr. and Mrs. Chas Frohlich during Sunday afternoon. Esther Tlustos was a guest and she became a mem ber. Leonra Ragoss and Albertina Vogler presented the lesson. Laundry Tricks and Gadgets. Next meeting will be March 18 with Verla Schliefert with the lesson on Let's Eat Fruit. Glendale Club Glendale Club met Feb. 19 at the home of Myrna Larsen, with Grayce Ahl as co-hostesses. Anna Heil was a visitor. Club gift was won by Ruth Albert. Next meeting will be a fam ily party. Everyone is to bring a 25c gift and two other items. This will be at the Legion Hall March 13 at 8 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Larson and Mike of Ralston and War ren Hawn of Papillion were Saturday evening supper guests at the Jim McClun home. War ren Hawn remained as an over night guest. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Fus selman and family were Mr. and Mrs. Milo Kincald and family of Columbus and Mr. and Mrs. Ron ald Roush and Vernon Johnson of Bristow. The occasion was the birthday of Alice Fusselman. F. W. Merril of Omaha has purchased the Herman Roeber farm southwest of Louisville and is taking possession and getting ready to begin farm operations in the spring. Mr. Roeber's new home which is being built near Third and Vine will be ready any day. Lillian Stander of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stander, Dick and Clifford of Murdock, Suzan ne Slattery of Weeping Water, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stander and children, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stan der and daughters of Weeping Water, Lena Stander and Paul O'Brien enjoyed a dinner at the home of Mrs. Frances O'Brien Sunday In observance of Mrs. O'Brien's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Eiwin Isaac and Frank of Manley were In Platts mouth on business Tuesday of last week and also visited with Mrs. Frank Pace In Weeping Water . Mr. and Mrs. Gail Wirth and family of Denver and Roy Ad dyman of Blackhawk, Colo., re turned to their homes Sunday after being here last week for the funeral of. Harry Wirth. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pearson of Manley drove to Havelock on Saturday and visited Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jenkins. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Stohl mann and children attended the silver wedding anniversary cel ebration of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rahn in Papillion Sunday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Smith Sr. moved from the farm south west of Louisville to Millard to be near Mr. Smith's work.
