Obituary of IsabeHe Macdella Todd Of Greenwood, Nebraska IsabeHe Maedella Todd was i born Sept. 5, 1895. in Plattsmouth to Philindia and Alvin Todd, i Her childhood was spent in this i city, Cleveland and Conneaut. i Ohio. She married Emil Meisinger of Plattsmouth Feb. 28. 1912. I To this union were born four i daughters, She and her family l lived in the Cedar Hill and the I Greenwood vi"initv since 1921. j She always took an active part j in church, school and commun I ity affairs until her health fail ; ed. j She died Feb. 14. 1959, after a long illness and much suffer ing and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, two half-sisters and a grandchild. She is survived bv her hus band, Emil, four daughters, Al yce Menitt of Omaha; Virginia Leesley of Waverly; Dorothy Green of Omaha: and Vivian Burbee, Bellevue; eight grand children and a irreat-Rrandchild; a brother. Chester Todd. Green wood; four nieces and a nephew. Mrs. Earl Mrasek of Murray is a niece. Services were held at Gretn WOOd Methodist Church. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery, Plattsmouth Feb. 17. Pallbearers were Kenneth Mer ritt, Joe Leesley, Clinton Green, Wendell Burbee. Robert Twe ton and Philip Hergenrader. Dairy cows are "heavy drink ers". They will take an average of ten drinks a day if they have free access to wate. The average dairy cow will drink about 15 gallons of water a day. and a heavy milk producer may need us much as 4 gallons. i HE PLATTSMOUTH NEBRASKA. Thursday, February 19, 1959 Death Of Mrs. Jennie Porter At Lincoln Mrs. Jennie Porter. 81. long time resident of thp Plattsmouth Community, occurred Monday at Lincoln where she had been living with a daughter, Mrs. Georgia Mitchell. She was born May 5, 1877, at Glenwood, Iowa, but spent the greater part of her life in Platts mouth and vicinity. She was a longtime member and earnest worker in the Methodist Church as long as her health permit ted. She was twice married, her fir.-1 husband being George E. Sullivan who died many years ago. She later married Earnest Porter who preceded her in death a number of years ago. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Georgia Mitchell. Lincoln: Kenneth Sullivan, in the armed service and station in Japan, and Stuart Porter of Denver; a brother, Joe Miles of Auburn, Calif., 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Dick Fischer of Murray is a granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Wadlows in Lincoln, Dr. Frank Courtmof, officiating. Cornekia Cole, or ganist. Interment will be at Lin coln Memorial park. Funeral Service For Dick March Held Tuesday Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'-1 clock at the Murray Christian church was held the last rites for Dick March, whose deatli Friday had brought, a deep sor- : row to the Plattsmouth and I Murray communities. The church was filled with friends and relatives to pay their last tributes to the friend gone on. Rev. Victor Schwartz, pastor of the church conducted the service at the church. Louis Sack was soloist for the service with Mrs. Richard Sack as organist. Burial was at Horning ceme tery south of this city with Ro-1 bert Walling, Howard Hirz, Ce cil Carr, Clement Woster, David Clifford and Gene Sochor serv ing as casket bearers. Mr. and j Mrs. Howard Younker and Ro ger Noell served as floral bear ers. Honorary pallbears were past commanders of the Lepert-Wol-ever post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Al Nierste, Ro bert Willis, Dale Bowman, Lloyd1 Fitch, Arthur McLean, Leroy Wilson. At the graveside military rites were given by a squad from Of futt Air base who tendered the soldier's last salute. The Saltier funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Obituary of Henry Vette AVOCA (Special Henry Vette was born near Peoria, 111., Dec. 15. 1873. and died in a Denver hospital Feb. 9. He came to Nebraska with his parents and lived around Avoca until 1923 when he mov ed to a farm near Levant, Kan. After he retired, he bought a home in Colbv. Kan., where he made his home until a few days before his death. He was taken to a Denver hospital for treat ment and died there His first wife was Alice Betts of Avoca and there were six children four of whom survive, Mrs. Clara Wade. Colby; Earl. Tucson, and Ed and Harold of Denver. Mrs. Frances Kunz and Lloyd Vette are deceased.. His second wife was Cora Wil helm. There were four children, Charles and George and Hazel and Audrey, deceased. His third wife was Edith Har ris who with Mrs. Donna Dale and Hcnrv Vette Jr. of Colby also survive along with two sis. ters, Mrs. Minnie Hemphill of Nebraska City and Mrs. Goldie Cozschin of Avoca. Burial was at Colby Feb. 13. Mr. Vette was a farmer and did a great deal of corn shell ing and threshing. Stohiman and wife Mabel, south of Louisville Feb. 6. Frederick Aucust Stohiman - - He had not been in the best of health for the past few years but up and about until the last week. He was born April 28, 1866. His parents were Frederick Phil lip and Kunigunde (nee Shoe man i Stohiman, homesteader pioneers who came to Nebraska from Wisconsin in 1858 and set tled four miles from Louisville. After marriage, he lived on. a farm a mile from his birthplace for 54 years, selling this in 1948. Mr. Stohiman was baptized by Rev. Hannewald and con firmed by Rev. J. Catenheu sen in 1884 at the Lutheran Church southwest of Louisville. On Sept. 12, 1394, he was mar ried to Bertha Emma Rupke, daughter of Christian and Em ma Charlotte Kupke at Trinity Lutheran Church. Murdock, the Rev. Baumgartner officiating. They were married 64 years, celebrating their 50th and 60th anniversaries with open house. Funeral services with Pastor L. Mueller officiating were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9 at Im mar.uel Lutheran Church and burial was at the church ceme tery. A trio, FJldred Thimgahn, Christian Stohiman and Verle Bruncho, sang. Pallbearers were Herman Stohiman. August Stohiman Jr., Walter Stohiman, Martin Stohi man, Herman Kupke and Carl Voightman. Mr. Stohiman is survived by his wife, Bertha Emma; sons Fred H. Stohiman, Louisville, Rudolph Stohiman, Altadona, Calif., Mathew Stohiman, Mont ibello, Calif.; daughters, Julia E. McCafferty, Altadena, Marie Fisher, Kirkwood, Mo., Gerald ine Helnbaugh, Louisville, Anno Kroeger, Omaha; Leila Metcalf, Riverside. Calif., Emma Lar son, Pasadena, Calif.; Ruth Simpson, San Diego, Calif.; Am anda Heil, Louisville and Min nie Althouse. Waverly. Bertha Morse and Margareta preceded him in death. A brother, August Stohiman Sr., Louisville, also survives a long with 31 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Mr. Stohiman was a lifelong member of Immanual Lutheran Church, Southwest of Louisville, a church he helped to build and further, donating much time and labor, hauling by wa gon team bricks and stones and ether materials long distances for its construction. He saw much of the rugged life of pioneers, such as prairie fires, Indians and wagon trains traveling westward. He recalled his parents' home having the floors of their modest house cov ered with sleeping women and children caught in snowstorms and severe temperatures and the family's sharing of their meager provisions with these people. As a boy, with other settler boys, he herded cattle on foot on the open prairies of Cass and Otoe Counties.
