Grandparents are Mrs. Helen Noerrliiwr and Mr. and Mrs. Levi Wilson, urrat Rrand niother is Mrs. S. Y. Smith. Mrs. Harry Marguardt was hostess at a party Friday after noon honoring Mrs. J. W. Bren del for her birthday. Guests were Mrs. Silas Kverett, Mrs. Clyde Bocard, Mrs. Harry Stull, Mrs. Maud Ruhge, Mrs. Henry Smith, Mrs. Fred Marguardt, Miss Ann Marguardt and the guest of honor, Mrs. Brendel. Earl Freeman has been sick this week and unable to bo at work at the Marguardt elevator. Mr. and Mrs. John Compton and Mr. and Mrs. Louie Allgayer attended funeral services for their aunt, Mrs. Fred Compton at Blair last Monday. Dinner guests Saturday at the Ray Norris home in observance of Mrs. Norris birthday were Mrs. carl Lefft, Mrs. Paul Wolph, Mrs. John Norris and Mrs. Min nie Burgess. Mr. and Mrs. Silas Everett, Mrs. Clyde Bogoul visited Sun day at the Len Brenton home at Elmwood. Mr. John Baien Sr., was able to return home from the hospi tal Saturday. Mrs. Caroline Benecke, 74, died Tuesday morning in a Lin coln hospital following a stroke. She had been ill four days. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mohr, she was born May 24, 1884, in North Branch pre cinct. She married Albert Ben ecke at North Branch church Feb. 6, 1907. He died March 21, 1947. She lived near Palmyra until the death of her husband, then moved to Lincoln. She was a member of the Lutheran chur ch. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Helen) Maaks, Lin coln, sons Vernon, Nebraska City and John, Garland, sisters, Mrs. Minnie Maseman, Lincoln, Mrs. Clara Holliday, Syracuse, brother John Mohr, Avoca, Gus Mohr, Hamlet and Ben Mohr. Also surviving are six grand children and one great grand child. Three brothers and par ents preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Syracuse. Burial was in Park Hill ceme tery. Pallbearers were Harvey Mohr, Lloyd Witt, Harry Mohr, Fred Maseman, Harry Jacobson and Calvin Pearson. Mrs. Clara Ruhge accompan ied Mr. and Mrs. John A. Ruhge to visit at the Wm Huffman home Sunday. birthday were Mrs. Paul Wolph, Mrs. Carl Lefft, Mrs. Ray Nor ris, Mrs. Minnie Burgess and Mrs. John Norris. Fred Marquardt is having some remodeling done on the house where Mr. and Mrs. Earl Freeman live. Fred Meyer is do ing the work. The 3-Way Benefit which was held Saturday afternoon and evening was well attended, there were 13 tables of cards in the evening. Prizes were won by Mrs. Allen Ehlers Sr., Mrs. Fred Mar quardt, Mrs. Morthr Ruhge, Mr. Fred Heine and Mr. Harry Eh mke. The door prize was won by Mrs. Fred Meyer. The Maynard Rippes moved their household goods to Mc pherson, Kans., Saturday where Rippe will enter the insurance business. Mrs. Ernest Haveman received word of the death of her brother-in-law, Mr. Alvln Reimerc of Palmyra. Mrs. Henry Maseman has been quite sick with gall bladder at tack while she was staying with her sister, Mrs. Rosa Ehlers of Bertrand. Mr. and Mrs. Louie Allgayer the Leonard Buehholz family went to the Louis Carsten home Monday evening to help Mrs. Carsten celebrate her birthday. Mrs. Charles Alt, Reta Peter son and Richard Place were sup per guests Wednesday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ruhge. Word was received of the death of Ruby Wilson Nelson in Last Saturday luncheon guests California. Mrs. Nelsen was the at the Wm. A special meeting was sched uled to be held at the Avoca HiRh School Jan. 29th to discuss the school situation for the fut ure but because of the bad wea ther it was postponed to a later date. The A. C. Hansen family of Sterling visited last Sunday even ing at the John Wolph home. Henry Maseman fell Thursday morning on the Icy streets. He was taken to St. Mary's hospitkl at Nebraska City Friday after noon to determine the extent of his injuries. The Social committee of the Congregational Women Fellow ship met with their chairman, Mrs. Calvin Carsten Friday eve ning to make plans for the Pan cake Feed which will be held on Wednesday evening Feb. 11 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Emma Rawalt left Wed nesday for Omaha where she joined her sister, Mrs. F. R. Amsbaugh. Thursday morning they flew to New York and Fri day sailed on the Empress of England on the Caribbean cruise. They will also visit the Canal Zone and Venezuela be fore returning home. Mrs. Raw alt is the guest of her sister on this cruise. ' The Norman Schutz family of Clay Center were here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Ed Schutz. They stopped to see Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ruhge and were'also guests at the John Wolph home. Those attending were Bonnie Renner, Pauline Frederickson, Annette Fitzpatrick and Lettie Stohl mann. While there they visited with Harold Hlavac. A dinner was held Sunday at the Edward Grell home honor ing the birthday of Mrs. Grell's uncle, Ela Beck of Wabash, Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Ela Beck of Wabash, Mr. and Mrs. John Beck of Weeping Water and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Beck. Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Wool hiser of Omaha were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Woolhiser. They took their children, Jerry and Linda home with them. They had spent the weekend with their grandparents. Vernon Feighner of Nemaha is visiting at the home of his son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Feighner and family. Friday evening callers at the Joe Woolhiser home were Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Grell and Jo Ann of Omaha. Little Keri Jo Feighner is re covering from a bad case of measles. Mary Jo Reichart and Mary Ella Parsons of East Hampton, N. Y., visited this week with Mary Jo's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Reichart. The girls en joyed a week's vacation from studies at the Agricultural Col lege in Lincoln due to mid--emester exams. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Deloske of Springfield are parents of a daughter born Jan. 26 at Clark son hospital in Omaha. She weighed seven pounds, eight ounces and has been named Ca thy Jo. Mrs. Deloske was for merly Mary Hinkle. Grandpar ents are Mr. A. C. Hinkle of Louisville and Mr. and Mrs. John Deloske of Gretna. Maternal The Happy Homemakers Ex tension Club met at the home of Mrs. George Rouse Wednesday, January 21 with 17 members present. Mrs. Ken Carpenter and Mrs. Elmer Leadabrand gave the lesson on "ParVnts and Purse Strings." Next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. M. R. Hansen February 18. , The Greenwood Woman's Club will meet February 10 at the home of Mrs. Clara Pershing. The program will be "New World of Ideas" and 57 slide pictures will be shown on 40 room setting presented by Celanese Corpora tion. Grace Circle met at the home of Mrs. Don Sacca Tuesday with 9 members present. Program was given by Mrs. Charlie Bell. Lunch was served by the hostess Mrs. Sacca and her assistants Mrs. John Grady and Mrs. Elgin Knudsen. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hergenra der are the parents of a son born January 22 at the Bryan Memorial hospital. He weighed 7 lb. 6 oz. and has been named Rodney Lee. The Granparents are Mr. and Mrs. Philip L. Hergenrader and grandparents Mr .and Mrs. Emil Meisinger all of Greenwood. The twin daughters Sandra and Sharon and son David of Mr and Mrs. Elgin Knudsen all under went tonsilectomies Wednesday at the Bryan Memorial hospital. They are getting along fine. John Anderson returned home Wednesday after spending some time in the hospital. , The Jolly Jokers Pinochle Club met Friday at the home of Mrs. Frank Welton.
