WEEPING WATER NEWS Mrs. Edward Van Horn Phone 252-W The Weepini Water, Louisvillo, Nehawka. Elmwood and Avoca fire departments were called to the scene of a fire Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. FA Slattery and family, west and south of Weeping Wa ter. The barn burned but with the efforts of the firemen the other buildinus were saved. Paul Oerrard, a neighbor , had the misfortune to fall while at the fire. He was taken to the Bryan Hospital in Lincoln for treatment. He suffered a broken hip. Kiremen kept watch all night and Sunday morning until all danger was past. Mrs. Edward Van Horn and Mrs. Ed Freeman visited Sun day afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ereeman of Avoca. Mr. Freeman has been ill the past three weeks and was a patient at St. Mary's hospital in Neb raska City for x-rays. It was found that he has an ulcer. At this writing he has to remain at home due to excessive swell ing in his legs, face and stom ach. Mrs. L. F. Ehlers fell Satur day nlt'ht on the ice at her home and suffered many scratches and bruises on her arms and face. Nancy Ehlers of Avoca was a Saturday overnight guest. Carol Nickels and Shirley Up ton sanj a duet, "In the Gar den" for a special at the open ing of Sunday school at the Christian Church. Nancy Ehlers accompanied by Mrs. S. H. Harmon at the organ sang a special at the church services. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ehlers and Debbie were Sunday after noon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Al len Ehlers and family of Avoca. The second annual Southeast 8 Conference Band Clinic was held Jan. 22 at Weeping Water school. Myrna Van Horn and Eugene Kobler of Louisville were Sun day evening guests of Mr. , and Mrs. Gary Van Horn and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meising er were business visitors in Om aha on Monday. Lowrey of Ty lertown, Miss., and Mrs. Mo Kinstry of Louisville is paternal great-grandmother. Verna Jean Holscher of Om aha accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Charles Roberts to Weeping Wa ter where she spent from Fri day evening until Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Free man and family. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Roberts. Rev. I. C. G. Campbell is spending a week in Chicago at tending Ministers Week and tak ing a refresher eouurse. Myrna Van Horn and Eugene Kobler visited on Sunday after noon with Mr. and Mrs. James Stewart and Jenefer. Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Eiden miller and family were Mon day evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cooper. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Urwin and Sheri Cooper were Thursday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cooper and then took Sheri to her home. The Urwins were then evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Johnson of Nehawka. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bruns of Plattsmouth were also guests at the Johnson home. Family night was held Mon day at the Congregational ch urch with about 50 attending. Games were played by the youngsters and a grab bag was held for the younger children. Mrs. I. C. G. Campbell gave a talk on Religions in the Near East. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Cappen were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Lorensen and family. Sunday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Lorensen visited Mrs. Gayle Lorensen of Hum boldt at the hospital in Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ossen kop of Omaha were Sunday af ternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Sterling. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cooper and Ricky were visitors in Platts mouth Saturday morning. They visited with Mr. Norman Ur win enroute home. Mr. and Mrs. Urwin were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Coop er. Mrs. Mabel Mickle of Lin coln came Saturday afternoon and is visiting for a few days at the Cooper home. Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Fleming and family of North Bend were Saturday overnight and Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lyal Fleming. Mrs. Clarence Schmadeke ac companied Mrs. Nancy Sutton to Lincoln Wednesday afternoon where they attended a 4-H lead ers conference at the Cornhusk- er hotel. A birthdav party was held at the Power Party Parlor for the 16th birthdav of Gary Seeger. Twenty-nine members of the freshman class were guests. The evening was spent playing gam-j es and dancing.
