Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lavigne, former teachers in the Louis ville Schools, returned to their home in Tucson, Ariz., Thursday after spending the holidays with relatives and friends in Auburn and Louisville. Nola Noyes of Omaha, who had been visiting at the Bruce Hirsch home in Princeton, New Jersey, returned to her home Sunday so that she could re sume her teaching duties. Mrs. Jerry Pennington of Schertz, Texas, who has been visiting over the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Thurman, left Saturday for her home. Roger Pearson of Manley spent last week vacationing with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Baker. Little Cheryl and Marvin Pearson have had the measles this week. Mrs. Ralph Welt honored her daughter Nancy on her sixth birthday Wednesday afternoon by having a few children in to help her celebrate. Nancy re ceived many nice gifts and the children enjoyed playing games after which refreshments were served. Those present were Carol Swanson, Gay Griffin, Diane McGrew, Linda and Cheryl Smith, and Mary and Stanley Welte. Mrs. E. A. Ingram and Mrs. George Griffin were also present. J., to let them know he had arrived in the States from Germany Dec. 31 and that he was feeling better. He is in the States on a 25-day furlough and has to report back to Hahn Air Force Pa.se at Hahn, Germany, by Jan. 23. He and his bride plan to fly back to Germany when his furlough time is up. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Switzer of Weeping Water are parents of a girl born Dec. 31 at the St. Mary's in Nebraska City. She has been named Colleen Sue and weighed eight pounds. The grandparents are Mr, and Mrs. Gerald Switzer of Manlev and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Schoemaker of Omaha. Great-grandmothers are Mrs. Harrison Wade of Weep ing Water and Mrs. Mary Rob bins of Morrison, Colo. Great grandfather is Robert I. Switzer of Bertha, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Abbott of Plant City, Fla., are parents of a son born Dec. 29. He weighed seven pounds. 15 ounces and has been named Rick Lee. Mrs. Ab bott was formerly Jeanette Sluy ter of Manlev. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Abbott of Roehelle. Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sluyter of Manley. Mrs. Sluvter who has been vis iting at the Vern Abbott home is expected home this week. Friday evening visitors at the Irvin Franke home were Mr. and Mrs. William Williams and Mike and Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Wischmann and Laurie, all of Papillion. j Mr. and Mrs. John Bogard have announced the engage ment of their daughter, Eliza beth Ann to Brian Biggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Biggs Jr. Both young people graduated from Louisville high school and are now attending schools in Omaha. No date has been set for the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Terry berry of Lincoln were Tuesday evening supper guests at the Fred Terrvberry home. In the evening they attended the Louisville-Syracuse basketball game which Louisville won in a tight contest. Friday evening supper guest at the Richard Heim home was Marvin Prokop of Spencer. He is an armv buddy of Rodney's and after supper the two left to return to the National Guard Camp at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Ernest Beck received word Friday evening that his stepmo ther, Mrs. Amanda Beck of White Deer, Tex., had passed away that day at her home. Her body was shipped back to Mountain Grove, Mo., with bur ial Monday at Druery, Mo. She was also the stepmother of Mrs. J. B. Hutchinson and Ela Beck of Wabash. Mrs. Glenda Van Winkle of Plattsmouth was a caller Sun day afternoon at the Arnot Cush man home. Sunday supper guests at the Fred Terrvberry home were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Harms of Platts mouth. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Smith Jr. of Murdock are both ill with flu and Mrs. Fred Terry berry went there Thursday to take care of them.
