Plattsmouth lodge No. G, AF & I AM. Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist church in this city on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. A. L. Embree and Rev. Harold Mitchell offic iating. The casket will be closed at the church. Interment will be at Oak Hill cemetery. Dial 289 Cass Drug WALCREEN ACENCY "Drugs With a Reputation" Dcibcrt Ray Thornc Funeral Held At Nehawka Friday Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock the residents of the Nehawka community gathered at the Ne hawka Methodist church to join in their last tributes to Delbert Ray Thome, 16-year-old youth, whose untimely death Tuesday evening had brought a deep re gret to the friends and acquain tances of this popular young man. Rev. C. F. Weideman, pastor of the church, officiated at the service. The body had lain in state at the church from noon until the hour of the funeral. The burial was at the Cowles cemetery in Wyoming precinct in Otoe county, with school fri ends serving as casket bearers, Roger Balfour, Milton Bond, Terry Briley, Bobby Garrens, Jerry Harshman and Dwain Hobscheidt. Girls from the Nehawka school where Delbert was a junior, ser ved as flower bearers. They in cluded Judy Attebery, Connie Dietl, Marlene Eaton, Mary Hen derson, Linda Kearney, Bonita Lacy, Gloria Miller, Norm' Ross, Norma Tipling, Sandy Waller, Cheryl Weike. Near relatives surviving the passing of this fine young man are the parents, Kelly and Edna Thorne, brothers, Leonard and Evelyn; grandmother, Mrs. Ka therine Crow, grandfather, Ro bert Thorne, niece, Cheryl, sister-in-law, Darlene. Leaves On Sad ! Mission To Kansas Harry Johnston of this city i was called to Manhattan, Kans., by the death of his mother who died Saturday. Mr. Johnston, an engineer at Omaha, only recently returned 1 from a visit with his mother at the holidays. Mrs. Grossman Dies after Freak Road Accident LOUISVILLE (Special i Mrs. Charles Grassman, 49, of Col umbus, died Friday morning in a Kansas City hospital of injur ies received in a freak accident on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Grassman, for mer Louisville residents, were driving to Florida for a winter vacation. Near the town of Har risonville, Mo., they met a truck carrying signs. A sign slipped off the truck and struck the windshield of the Grassman car. Both Mr. and Mrs. Grassman were injured in the accident and were taken to a hospital where Mrs. Grassman died Friday. Mr. Grassman was brought home Friday but is in serious condi-1 tion. His injury was caused by j glass penetrating his eye. ' Mrs. Grassman is a sister of j Mark Partridge of Louisville, ' and they had lived' in Louisville for many years, having moved to Columbus when Mr. Grass man was transferred their by his employer, the Lyman Richey Company. Funeral was Monday in Col umbus. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Partridge drove to Columbus Monday to attend the funeral. Obituary of Mrs. Watters WEEPING WATER (Special) Mrs. Anna Prall Watters, 96, a retired teacher, who took a 're fresher course" at the Stanford University at the age of 69, died Dee. 22, at Santa Barbara, Calif., after a brief illness. She is survived by a son War ren Watters and a daughter, Mildred Watters of Santa Bar bara California, one brother Milton Prall of Weeping Water and one sister, Mrs. E. B. Wil liams of Omaha, one grandchild and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Watters was born June 8, 1862, in Morrisville, Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Issac Prall. She began her career as a school teacher at the age of 18. She was a member of the Me thodiit church for more than 74 years. Mr. and Mrs. M. Prall at tended the funeral services at the Haynes and Roeder Funeral Horn in Omaha on Saturday, December 27. Call Your News And Social Items To 241 Death Of Mrs. C. H. King, On The West Coast Word has been received by Mrs. Virgil Perry of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Charles H. King, who had been ill for some time. Mrs. King died in a nursing home at Hermosa Beach, Calif., Jan. 4. Funeral services were held at The Little Church Around the Corner in Inglewood, Calif., Jan. 6. Rev. John R. Ste wart, Presbyterian minister, of ficiated. Interment was at For est Lawn Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Minor of Kankakee, 111., and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Minor of Burbank, Calif., attended their aunt's services. Edith Patterson King, young est daughter of the late James M. and Ellen Campbell Patter son was born in Plattsmouth Oct. 11, 1874 a few months after the Patterson family moved to Plattsmouth from Rock Bluff where they had lived since 1861. Mrs. King was educated in the Plattsmouth schools and at tended Northwestern University at Evanston, 111. She was active in musical circles here, sang in the Presbyterian church choir and was a member of Chapter F, P.E.O. She was married June 2, 1900 to Charles H. King, whom she met while attending Northwest ern. Two children were born to this union, Richard Patterson of Los Angeles, and Marion Elizabeth, now Mrs. Milton O. Fredrickson of Hawthorne, Calif. The Kings made their home in Waukegan, 111., for many years then moved to Los Angeles where Mr. King died in 1933. The two children and one grandchild, Kathy Fredrickson, survive. Obituary of Emery Brant WEEPING WATER (Special) Emery J. Brant, was born Oct. 17, 1876 at Rockford, 111. He was a former resident of Weeping Water. He was the last Spanish Amer ican War Vet. of Johnson Co unty. He died Dec. 23 at Lincoln Veterans Hospital. Funeral services were Dec. 26 at Sterling. Burial was in Sterling Ceme tery with a military graveside service by the Sterling American Legion Post. S. L. Brant of Weeping Water is nis son. South Door Courthouse, Plattsmouth, Nebraska Death Of Life Long Resident Of Nehawka Mrs. Ida Jane Lopp, 90, a life long resident of the Nehawka community, passed to the last rest Thursday afternoon at St. Mary's hospital, Nebraska City. Death came after a lingering Ill ness that has covered the past four years. Her death removes one of the pioneer residents of the county and whose life has been interwoven with the dev elopment of her community. She was born on a farm near Nehawka on April 28, 1869, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred erick Ingwersen, pioneer resi dents. In the community of her birth she spent her girlhood, and gave her years in her care of her home and family and will be greatly missed by those who had the priviledge of knowing her. She was married to Henry W. Lopp, who preceded her in death on June 29, 1917 at the home north of Nehawka. She was a member of the Uni ted Brethren church, the Royal Neighbors and a very devout worker in the Ladies Aid soc iety of her church. Survivors include a son, Geor ge Lopp, Nehawka; a daughter, Mrs. Abbie Lacy, Los Angeles; a brother, Richard Ingwerson, Weeping Water; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Mast, Tonka, Okla.; Mrs. Laura Wilson, San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the chapel of the Caldwell Linder funeral home in this city, with Rev. Ivan Kilpatrick, of the Evangelistic United Brethren church conducting the service. Music for the service was by Mrs. Twyle Hodges, organist. Burial was at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery near the old home with William Jorgensen, Guy Mur doch, Vilas Ketelhut, Marion Hoback, Merritt Sodson and Glen Rutledge serving as cas ket bearers. The Caldwell - Linder funeral home of this city were in charge of arangements. Schmidt's home on Thursday afternoon at her house. The Dorcas Society of the Im manuel Lutheran church met Wednesday P. M. with Mrs. Clarence Althouse hostess. Mrs. Ivan Althouse was topic leader. W.S.C.S. met at the Metho dist church Wednesday with Mmes. Florence Jacobmeier and Aletha Henrlksen co-hostesses. Mmes. Alice Frohlich and Syl via Muenchau conducting the devotlonals and the lesson. The study group was to start their second series of study Jan. 12 at the home of Mrs. Arthur Adams. The executive commit tee will meet at Mrs. John Fis cher's home, on Fri. afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The church will meet mittee of the church, wil meet at the Fischer's home on Tues-I day evening at 7:30 p.m. The Camp Creek Club mem bers met at Mrs. L. K. Swarts home on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Hardnock gave the lesson on "First Aid". Wayne Lewis, Plattsmouth, Nebraska Learns Of Sudden Death Of Father Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lamas cus of this city were called to Troy, Kans., by the death of her father, Jim Blanton. The father was stricken with a heart attack and died Satur day. The learning of his death was a great shock to the fam ily here. Da kota visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jacobmeier, during the Christmas Holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Finke and family near Bennet, Nebr., were also present for the family get-together. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vickers en joyed a trip and visit to Denver, Colo., during the holidays. Mr. Walter James, son and daughter of Van Neys, Calif., visited his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Underwood last Sunday evening and Monday. Several Eagle folks attended the installation of ofifcers of the Eastern Star and Masonic lodge at Elmwood Wednesday evening. Rev. and Mrs. Prauge are new subscribers for the Plattsmouth Journal this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Denison of Lincoln, Rt. 8 and son, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Denison and family of Roca, Nebr., were diner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Earl and Gary Sunday. Mrs. August Schwegman has been 111 with the flu for a few days during the week. The Paul Embree family have been ill for several days with a scarletina epidemic. At this time all are recovering without com plication, or having been very ill, we are glad to report. The Lion's club are sponsoring a Boy Scout Troop organization. Several of the members are co operating in directing the or ganization including Pat Don- Ian, Melvin Doran and Howard Root assisted by Fred Embree and Wesley Lowell. The meeting was held Wednesday evening at the firehouse.
