Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Deles Der nier of Findley, Ohio visited at the home of his mother, Mr. Eugenia Deles Dernier last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Campbell of Lincoln visited on Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Shel don Smith. Ensign Marion Tritsch left on Saturday after visiting over the holidays with his parents. His father, Elmer Tritsch accompan ied him to San Diego and then planned to visit with his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Munz of San Bernadino, California. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Campbell returned on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Hurst of Platts inouth after a two weeks vaca tion with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Miller Hurst and girls of New Orleans, Louisiana. Mrs. Eugenie Deles Dernier fell on Sunday and fractured her hip. She was taken to the Clark son Hospital in Omaha, where she seems to resting as well as can be expected. Mr. ana Mrs. Charles Martin, Linda, Norma and Donna and Mrs. Walter Martin of Platts mouth returned on Monday after a 2 weeks vacation in California to visit wun Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Martin and family. 4-H News A meeting of the Master Swine Breeders 4-H Club was held Dec. 31 at the home of our leader, Bert Worthan. The following of ficers were elected for the new year. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Wort han. Ronnie Chriswisser, Re porter. Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Hvans of Glenwood, Iowa were guests on Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fltzpatrick and fam ily. The United Presbyterian Church appointed some new of fices on Sunday. Arlan Cundall will be the New Secretary and Lowell Rieke, Libraian. They succeeded Bob McKulsky and Gary Rieke. Mr. and Mrs. George McKul sky enjoyed dinner at Johnny's Cafe in Omaha with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Troudt and family. Gordon Doeschot and fiancee of Omaha called on his grand mother, Mrs. Eugenia Deles Dernier on Christmas afternoon. Don Yelick of Plattsmouth spent a week of his vacation visiting with his cousin, Dale Nickels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert Nickels. The Murray Homemakers held their first meeting at the home of Mrs. Henry Hobscheidt Jan. 8 with Mrs. Jesse Jorgensen as co-hostess. Plans for the com ing year were made, and secret pal names were drawn. Next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Frank Fitzpatrick. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Dwyer of Valley City, North Dakota, visit ed at the home of their niece, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fitzpatrick and family on Wednesday. Seven and eight tenths miles have been added to the Murray mail route and the extra service began Jan. 10. Some of the pat rons have expressed their ap preciation of having mail ser vice to their door. The Christian Womens Fellow ship met on Wednesday at the Christian churh. Hostesses were Mrs. Jim Eastridge, Mrs. Addie Park, Mrs. Clifford Rogers and Mrs. Louis Rogers. Leader was Mrs. Victor Schwarz and Wor ship leader, Mrs. Louis Sack. Plans were made for the An nual Mother-Daughter Banquet, Jan. 15. Mrs. David Kratz of Lin coln, wife of the Executive Sec retary of the Nebraska Fellow ship of Christian Churches, will be guest speaker. Parolee Given OK To Move To S. D. The Delbert C. Stoltenburg family of Plattsmouth, whose home was burned out at Rock Bluffs departed from Platts mouth Saturday night enroute to Clear Lake, S. D. Stoltenburg's two brothers who are prominent business men in Clear Lake came to Plattsmouth and offered their brother a new home and job in that city. Sheriff Tom Solomon, to whom Stoltenburg was on parole, oh talned permission from the court for the move. The brothers said they would make resitution of all bills owned by their brother providing they were presented to Solomon in due time. 2 Boys Committed To State School Two teenage boys who were serving a sentence for joy rid ing were committed to the Boys Industrial School at Kearney Thursday upon the County At torney's motion to the Court here to have the parole revoked. The boys admitted stealing a car in Plattsmouth, then taking another car, the property of Leo Scanlan, and driving it to Missouri where they were appre hended by a Missouri state trooper. At the time of the offense the youths were on parole for a pre vious auto theft in Plattsmouth. Union Items Mrs. L. C. Todd Phone 2441 In a recent letter at Christ mas time, that Mrs. Todd re ceived from Mr. and Mrs. Her man Swanson of Atchison. Kan., they wrote that their son Bob and Mr. Swanson were leaving on Christmas Day by train for Washington, D. C. Bob is a member of the "White Chapel Bell Choir," a group of 20 mus icians from the high school at Atchison. The group was invit ed to participate in a "Pageant for Peace" program on the White House lawn. Mr. Swan son is treasurer of the group. The young people gave a con cert earlier in December to raise funds to finance the trip. Mr. Swanson works for the Missouri-Facific railroad in At. chlson. The Swansons lived in Union manv years ago and Mr. Swanson was in the station here. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Rich and daughters were Friday eve ning supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beck. New Year's dinner guests at the Mitchell Rich home were: Mr. and Mrs. Lowell McQuin and daughters, Marcia and Ma ry, of Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs. John McQuin and son Johnny of Bellevue. Mrs. Carl Cross and Iva Mou gey entertained the Union Wo man's Club at their home Tues day. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cross, Mrs. Ray Cross of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Iva Mougey were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Mougey. Sunday eve ning supper guests were Mr. and Mrs. John McQuin and son Johnny of Bellevue. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wolfe and three children Donald. Carol and June from Riverdale. N. D., spent the New Year's holidays with their parents and other rel atives. They arrived on New Year's eve and on New Years day they were dinner guests at their parents' home, that of Mr. i and Mrs. Earl Wolfe. Other gu ests were Mr. and Mrs. Don Wolfe and two daughters Jan and Marv and Rube Foster. On Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Garrison's supper guests were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wolfe, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wolfe and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Wolfe and family and Mrs. and Mrs. Louis Burbee. The Bob Wolfes returned to their home last Saturday. By 1960, predicts the Secret ary of State's office, Illinois will have five million licensed auto drivers. Plans were made for the benefit smorgasbord to be held at the Nehawka auditorium Jan. 25 from 2 to 6 p.m. Committees were appointed. Mrs. Victor Ross and Mrs. Elmer Ross are chair men. Mrs. Harvey Bailer was appointed to bring the club his tory up to date. Next meeting, Feb. 4 will be with Mrs. Everrett. Members of the Holy Trinity i Guild voted to contribute $5 to Cass county and $5 to the Otoe county polio drive, Tuesday when members met with Mrs. Eheresa Meyer. Mrs. Leo Sch ram presided. She appointed a committee of four to assist with the polio and health benefit to be held at Avoca sometime in January. All organizations in the community will work to gether for this project. Mrs. Lewis Royal received the premium. Mrs. Richard Meyer was cohostess. Police Court Notes The weekend was very quiet in the domain of Judge J. H. Graves at the city hall, one hearing and two new filings. Terry McBride forfeited a bond of $20 placed for appear ance on a charge of using pro fane language to a police officer while on duty. The court gave a fine of $16 and costs of $4. Kenneth Morehead was char ged with operating a motor ve hicle while under the influence of alcoholic liquor. Hearing was set for January 17. Herbert V. Hild of Louisville was charged with intoxication while sitting in his car with motor running. Cash bond of $15 supplied for hearing Jan uary 17. David C. Reed, Nebraska City, was charged with speeding on Lincoln avenue, hearing set for January 17. They made Harlingen, Tex., their headquar ters and from there went to Port Isabelle and Brownsville, also to Monterey, Mexico and Laredo, Tex. They flew from Laredo to Mexico City. Their son Ray spent the time with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bower and Rory stayed at the Ronald Grebe home in Lincoln. All of Mr. and Mrs. Bowers families were home during the holidays. They were all married in a triple wedding. Mrs. Muhr and Mrs. Upton are twins. Mrs. William Finley entertain ed at a birthday party on Sun day afternoon in honor of the 12th birthday of her daughter, Beverly. Guests were girls of the 6th grade. Mrs. Walter Rasmussen and Helen Mather invited their Sun day school classes to the Meth odist church Saturday evening for lunch and then they went to Elmwood for roller skating.
